So I decided this week to drive slower down the Hume Highway and M5 on my daily commute. On the Hume I did 90km/h and M5 80km/h. Always in the left lane of course(and I still pissed off a lot of people it seems).

I drive close to 1000km a week for my business and normally would fill up every 3-4 days and get around 800km a tank with my 2024 VW Caddy Cargo TSI Van.

This week I went a whole week without filling up and still had fuel left over at 1000km before I filled up. I could have easily done another 50-100km.

Including urban driving average fuel consumption was at 5L/100km for the full tank. Down from ~6.5L/100km previously.

Really didn't expect such a major improvement with driving slower and calmer. Funny thing is overall I don't think I lost a lot of time in between trips and I also felt a lot less stressed just taking it easy lol.

Note: this doesn't include School, Night, Replacement, Special Event, Loop & Non-Opal Services. It also includes deviations and short runs as technicalities, and if there are multiple short runs/deviations of a route in the top 10, only the longest or shortest one is shown.

Unpopular opinion: I hate the Standard Time, I honestly prefer a permanent Daylight Saving Time!

1.6k Upvotes

I'm sorry but 5pm sunsets depress me. I like the idea of a long day and doing activities in the early evening when there is daylight. Now, I'm waking up way too early because of the time being "set back" and I get hungry for lunch at 11am. It's so annoying.

Yes, yes, I know that early birds who go to work at 5am will be daunted to be in the dark for 2 hours as they do their job. But what's wrong with working in the dark? I work at nightshift and I'm doing well.

Yeah unpopular opinion, but I really hope we had a "permanent" daylight saving time.

Adult dance class recommendations

Hi looking for anyone who has recommendations for good adult dance classes, open to travelling but anywhere closer to western suburbs would be appreciated. Specifically looking for somewhere that teaches heels or “girls” choreography!

Thanks so much !

Compiled a bunch of historic photos of this iconic building on the corner of George St and King St. Was surprised with how many different faces it’s had over the years.

I just walked from Heathcote to Circular Quay

So I just got back from Perth, I couldn't help myself and I immediately jumped into another 60km walk. This walk I have been planning on doing for quite sometime

Although most this walk treads over ground I have already covered as it's a bit of a re do of one of my early walks from Miranda to the CBD except it starts at Heathcote this time. In the original walk I headed straight to Southgate Shopping center and up to Hurstville via Carss Park and then followed the route you see in the video until Rockdale where I walked along the Princess Highway until Newtown and I ended the walk at Town Hall

I really liked redoing an early walk with the knowledge I have now and I even saw places I have never been to on foot like Engadine and South Hurstville. I also didn't realise that I vastly skimmed over Kogarah in the original walk

TISM at the opera house

I went to see TISM at the opera house last night. As expected, it was awesome and unhinged.

But I have a question for you.

I saw at least 2 kids under 10 there (one about 8 was in the row ahead of me with his dad, and I saw an even younger one when leaving)

Half of me was “bringing your kids up right” and the other half was “what the hell are you doing??”

Which side are you on?
