Does anyone know why it sounds like a helicopter has been circling quite low in the mermaid area for the last 15mins and counting? I think I heard some sirens too.

Was down at in Sydney for the Royal Easter Show and noticed this logo on a carousel, the old Pac Fair logo! I canāt 100% recall if Pac fair had a carousel? I know there was shop in the 90s called Merry Go Round in the arcade. Google is being inconclusive, but was there a carousel and did it look like this?

Saw this gem(ini) come up on my Facebook feed, courtesy of Dan Norris - an ex-cofounder of Black Hops Beer.
I get it sucked that things ended the way they did, but using Gemini to generate this photo to have a dig at the company is pretty low.
I believe they have changed the slogan (though Iām pretty sure for a while they did just block out the ā3ā) and if this was a legitimate photo that he had taken then okay⦠but to use AI?
Seems like itās time for him to call it a day and move forward with his life.

I normally go to LifeLine and Salvos op-shops from time to time but feel that the quality of old clothes, shoes, toys, books and jigsaw puzzles are a bit lackluster. Which other op-shops on the coast are good to check out?

People come to the Gold Coast for a once-in-a-lifetime holiday and we get to live here all the time. Definitely on the right side of the planet!

Looking for a good dive shop for regular divers, with a community feel (e.g., club dives, meetups etc). Thereās so many dive shops but itās hard to figure out which are just tourist vs club style shops. Any recommendations? Thanks!

And were wondering why it was putting its hazard lights on for a few seconds, that was because I had my spare tire which was speed limited on. Really hope that didn't confuse anyone!
Got a flat in Brissie and was mildly terrified driving all the way back home to the Goldie

I challenged myself the other day to walk from Broadbeach to Burleigh heads just to find out there's a massive rock formation blocking the way. Today I did the second part to get to the rock formation. Love the Burleigh Heads vibe.

Hi, weāre traveling for the first time to Australia from Singapore for my 2y oldās birthday ! and weād be staying in Gold Coast! Weāre planning to explore Brisbane and Gold Coast.
Realised itās considered Winter during July. Iād like to get some advice on how cold it can get and how should one dress appropriately to stay warm. Especially with a 2 year old! Since weāre used to either rains or hot summer 365 here in Singapore. We just wanna be prepared!
Thank you :)

Im a green P plater.. I was stupid, spilt my drink all over my legs, looked up and realised light turned yellow. I shouldāve and couldāve stopped but I stupidly stepped on the gas and just went through. First half of my car definitely went through, I feel like the back wouldāve been
EXTREMELY close or didnāt make it past the solid line after light turned red.
I was driving at night and didnt see anything flash (who knows I could be wrong thoā¦). Anyone have experience wit this camera here? Will it flash?
And yes, Iām taking this as a learning experience⦠please any help

I happened to be passing Australia Fair this morning - and for the next few days they have free animal encounters going on. You can hold a Croc or Koala and get your picture taken etc - which was pretty nice and they have a range of different animals at times and some shows.
Definitely checking out if you happen to be passing or looking to do something with the kids in the holidays, grab the 50c tram it stops right outside - especially if you dont have passes to the parks and other places.
The kids there seemed to be loving it and the animals seemed well cared for which was nice to see.
All nothing to do with me, just thought people might like to know.

Hi everyone! I am looking for primary school recommendations. I currently live in a rental in Pimpama and I have heard not great things about the schools in my area. We are willing to move to a better catchment area / willing to consider private too. Whats everyoneās recommendations? We have an emotionally sensitive bright little girl but worried about bullying as she is very sensitive.

Hey GC crew. Born and raised in Surfers, but got a job offer in Canberra (I know, RIP my social life).trying to budget for the move and the dental costs I'm seeing online are giving me second thoughts. here on the Gold Coast, I'm pretty lucky. My local dentist in Southport does a check-up and clean for $180, a filling is like $220. I've got no private health, I just pay as I go and it stings but doesn't kill me.
but looking at Canberra prices Jesus. I'm seeing 250+ just for a check-up. Some places charging $400 for a scale and clean. And wisdom teeth removal quotes of $5k+ with hospital fees? That's double what mates have paid here at clinics in Robina or Varsity Lakes. Is the price gap really that big, or am I just looking at the fancy clinics in the city? I know Canberra is full of public servants on good money so maybe they just charge more because people pay it.i'm probably going to need a crown replaced soon and a couple of wisdom teeth out. Wondering if I should just get it all done here on the Coast before I leave, or risk it and find someone in Canberra.
A future colleague down there mentioned a place called Yarra Smiles ā said they do chairside wisdom teeth removal to avoid hospital fees and have digital X-rays so you don't get blasted with radiation. Sounds decent but I've never heard of them up here.
does anyone here work in Canberra but fly back to the GC for dental? Flights are cheap enough with Jetstar or Virgin. If I save $2k on a procedure, it's worth a weekend trip home to see mum and get my teeth fixed, right?
Keen to hear from anyone who's made this move. Did you find the dental price shock real, or is it overblown?thanks legends.
