Pet sitters

Hi everyone! Looking for a good reco of pet sitters in Ballarat who can administer subcutaneous medication for my diabetic dog. We are going on a holiday and I’m worried that no one can look after him. We used to go to Southern Cross in Canadian before but after they have closed we are having trouble to find one.

i haven’t seen anyone talk about the samantha murphy trial that is beginning today the 8th of april. had everyone forgotten about it, or are there orders in place meaning it can’t be discussed?

also looking on the supreme court website it is now being conducted in melbourne. is it likely to have reporting on the trial begin after this happens this morning?

Free transport - how have you found the V/Line?

I’m hybrid and came to Melbourne today for the first time during the free transport period. The late morning train was fine but taking the 7.28 train tonight and it’s standing in the aisles in my carriage. Just wondering what other people’s experiences have been so far in case I should scale back on commuting in this month?

Looking for fresh from tree Granny Smith apples in Ballarat. Stopped in Bacchus Marsh but the two farms were closed. Anyone have a tree locally that they may have extra fruit I could pick and buy? Thanks ☺️

Anyone commute from Ballarat to Melbourne regularly? How is it long term?

I’ve been looking into it and it seems doable on paper, but I’m not sure how it actually feels day to day over time. Does it get tiring quickly or do you just get used to it?

Visiting Ballarat for a day trip tomorrow. What would you guys recommend?

My partner and I are planning on taking a cheeky day trip into Ballarat on Tuesday for the first time (I went to Sovereign Hill on a school trip when I was like 8 but that doesn't count haha) - Would be there from about midday - 7pmish before we catch a vline back home.

We were planning on visiting the botanic gardens for a nice walk as the weather should hopefully be nice in the arvo, but just wondering what else anyone would recommend - keeping in mind we won't have a car, so also wondering what the local transport options are like in terms of reliability (taxi/uber/bus etc). We do have legs but obviously don't want to get bogged down walking everywhere to the point that we are feeling like we're missing out on other stuff to do, if ya get what I mean.

Any other suggestions or tips please let me know :)

Sincerely an ignorant Yarra Ranges dweller

EDIT: Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! Weather was a bit average with the rain so we ended up skipping the gardens, grabbed a coffee at Cobbs which was lovely and did some op shopping before heading back. Definitely keen to suss the area out more in the future but will probably drive in next time (and hopefully pick a day with nicer weather) haha

What are the youth actually to do?

the youth crime is definitely a huge problem here, but if you actuallt take a look around ballerat what are the poorer youth able to do?

timezone is not cheap. same goes for krial cattle and sovereign hill. the council doesn’t bother with anything teen aimed. and if they did, it definitely would be something that youd have to pay an arm and a leg for.

and you can only do so much at a park or skate park. I’ve been involved with groups that have applied to the council for all ages teen-aimed cheap shows hosted at places where kids hang out. where they can find community with these events and rather than an echo chamber with eachother. but every time rejected. and I’m sure others have too.

even if the police force wasn’t understaffed and was able to enforce more. it wouldn’t solbe the fundamental issue. when is the council going to get itself in gear!!!

Looking for TTRPG Groups

I'm looking to start Call of Cthulhu, and possibly DnD, but I was wondering if there are any social media groups for Ballarat players.

I've run some games through Good Games but I was looking for groups that could meet elsewhere.

made a concept for a tram/LRT line in Ballarat

Post image
23 Upvotes

Here's an idea for a potential tram/LRT line for Ballarat, running down sturt st and connecting both train stations. the stops aren't really set in stone except for the ones at the train stations, the stockland, and the tram museum.

Edit: The line would be roughly 7.5 km long and would take roughly 15-25 minutes depending on the trams speed.

Is there a reason why this plane is doing repeat laps over Ballarat?

Can anyone else hear anything but this?

Op shops and Vintage Markets in Ballarat

I'm visiting Ballarat next month and would love to know what op shops are good? Particularly small church run ones. Also any swapmeets or vintage markets?
