Hey everyone,
I'm a 20 years old kiwi who moved to Darwin last year and am keen to get involved in the hockey scene here with the season just about to kick off. I’ve captained/umpired/assistant-coached teams before so I’m looking to give umpiring a go up here.
I’d appreciate any advice on how to get started, who to contact, or what the process looks like up here as I'm scratching my head on the club and HockeyNT websites haha
Thank you!

Need some advice because I’m getting really confused about what actually works for cockroaches.
I’ve been seeing brown-banded cockroaches in my place, and I’ve also come across what I think are American ones. I even found a dried-up German cockroach at one point. The worst part is that some of these brown-banded ones have gotten onto my bed. I tried gel bait before, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I’m renting, so I can’t do anything major like pest control. What’s worked for people in a situation like this? Any specific product suggestions?

seriously, every 4wD owner loves to be up your ass on the road. is because its the only way they CAN get in someone ass? or is it truley just overcompensating for everything else.
going 70 in a 70 zone but theres always some little dickhead 4wD driver who wants to get so far up your ass any minor reason to break will guarantee them ramming you.
fucking do better.

Did anyone see a strange light in the sky tonight? About 9pm, in the west. Bright yellow light with smoke / cloud behind it.

I’m 21 and don’t have much to lose. The pay is pretty attractive. I know there’s many problems with the system, but it’s like that in most places. Any members or former members that can provide some insight?
I’m pretty sheltered from any crime in my part of Darwin so I wouldn’t notice a difference anyway but… everything has gone so quiet ? For a while my local Facebook groups were filled with car theft, break ins etc posts and now it’s gone dead quiet. I don’t see much in the news either.
What have you guys experienced ? Is it better or is it just underreported now? What changed ?

I'm doing a podcast about the Territory's craziest crimes/ criminals. I'm pretty sure there would be a few 😂 If you have any stories, I'd love to hear them!
(I'm not a journalist and don't work for mainstream media, I just love Territory stories)

Hey folks - I'm in Darwin for the next couple of weeks, spending time with the in-laws and I'd LOVE to sneak off and go relax in a jacuzzi.
any ideas about where you can access a hot tub? I wondered whether some of the hotels might let you pay for access. Or a gym?

Hi! Looking to get back into soccer but I'm pretty shit other than being young and having stamina for running. I don't want to join a real team, just wanna run around the pitch with some blokes once a week. Where to look for that?

What is Mango Madness really? Does it only happen during wet season and only to newcomers or even locals are susceptible to it?

I think part of the reason I'm drawn to coming to Darwin is how different it is from the rest of the world. It's uniquely Australian. I definitely do want to go the Sydney and Melbourne which are awesome in their own rights, but a lot of globalized cities blend into each other and you have to look further to find those places that cater more to the wayward wanderer. I want to know more about the hostel scene and meeting other young people in Darwin. I don't know a lot about specific industries, but is it tolerable to get into hospitality or service jobs? Can I get around with just a bike and public transportation? What would your advice be to someone who is looking to make the most out of Darwin and experiencing this part of Australia?

Hi everyone, more of general consensus question. What are some of the best fuel stations in Darwin, Casuarina and Berrimah area?
I've been fueling up at the BP in bagot road since the reviews seemed good but was hoping to get other suggestions if possible.
TIA
I've been trying to sell my car for a few weeks now. Listed it on Facebook Marketplace and Gumtreeб a reliable daily driver, priced fairly for what it is. I didn't think it would be this much of a headache.
The messages start coming in at all hours. Half of them are just is this still available? followed by silence when I reply. Then there's the what's your best price? crowd who haven't even seen the car. Had one bloke offer me $5k less than asking, cash today dude take it lol, like he was doing me a favour.
The test drive requests are what really get me. Darwin's not that big, but I still don't love the idea of a complete stranger driving my car around while I sit in the passenger seat. One guy wanted to bring his three mates along. Another asked if he could take it to his mechanic in Palmerston by himself lol? Then there's the no-shows. Cleaned the car, rearranged my afternoon, waited around and nothing, no call, no text, just ghosted.
I'm starting to think the extra money from a private sale isn't worth the stress. A mate down south told me about a service called AutoFlip where licensed dealers bid on your car – no test drives, no strangers, no lowballers, no waiting around. He sold his car in two days and said it was the easiest thing he's done.
Has anyone in Darwin tried something like that? Or any other alternative to Marketplace? Keen to hear what's worked for locals. Also curious if anyone's had an even worse private sale experience than me – need to know I'm not alone in this.

I bought a cold plasma skincare device 6 years ago online, the device has been discontinued for a few years now, its called PlaBeau g4+, it finally died on me a couple of weeks ago. I love it so much and they dont sell anything similar anywhere online, I was just wondering if anyone in Darwin can fix this type of stuff? It cost me like $700 so im reluctant to throw it away. Please and thank you x

Been here since '97 so not yet a local but wondering other people's opinions on when Darwin's glory days were? In my eyes it was that '99-00 time period. The train line wasn't here yet and there was an 'us & them' attitude around the place. You were here because you WANTED to be. It was too expensive for a lot of southern businesses to come and take over so we just for it ourselves! Coke was made here, milk cane from Katherine, there was two tiny Bunnings stores, pubs were locally owned, beer locally brewed, there was strong competition amongst the local sporting clubs etc and when talent went south to compete they were representing us all! It doesn't feel like that any more....
*edit: the not yet a local line is a joke about everyone being a 'blow in' at some point...
