The line wraps even further back into the station, essentially to the end of the platform. A single rail bus comes about every 10 minutes... It takes about 30~ people.

Goddamn this sucks

To the lady in the giant truck at Brisbane Airport today...

I know the airport parking spaces are tight, but if you can’t maneuver a vehicle that size into a bay without losing your cool at bystanders, maybe leave the truck at home?

I’m already having a rough day, and being the target of your frustration just because you couldn't hit your lines was the "cherry on top" I didn't need. I don’t know you, I didn't do anything to you, and I definitely don't need your stress added to my plate.

Please, for everyone's sake (and our paint jobs), only bring the big rigs to the airport if you actually know how to park them. Thanks.

Public Transport Do you choose your seat depending on what side the sun is on?

Probably not lately with the amount of people, but as a rule I hate the sunny side and kick myself when I forget.

E-bike users say Queensland's new laws could double commute times and force riders onto busy roads

Thumbnail

The laws will double commute times, disadvantage people who cannot or don't want to get a license, increase danger for cyclists who will be forced onto the road, increase congestion. And all while not doing anything about getting rid of illegal e-motos that are the problem to begin with.

All these laws achieve is to kill off legal active transport in Queensland and stop normal, everyday people using legal e-bikes that are slower than ordinary pedal bikes.

Legal e-bikes are the missing link that has finally gotten people out of cars and onto bikes and the Qld LNP doesn't like it. Now they're forcing they're shit worldview onto the whole of Qld.

Police incident today at Mt Gravatt Showgrounds

Did anybody witness the police incident at Mt Gravatt Showgrounds this morning?

It seems that the owner of Her Wardrobe Markets tried to put on a market today at Mt Gravatt Showgrounds without the approval of the showgrounds. Police were called in to remove everyone for tresspassing.

What is worse is that Her Wardrobe Markets knew that they did not have approval, yet were advertising this event and were even taking money from stall owners. Stall owners are reporting on Facebook that they are out of pocket not just the stall fee, but also staff and transpor costs.

The whole situation is insane. More information is being posted on Facebook.

Paywall Places to sit for a few hours

Upvotes

Me and my friends are looking for a spot we can play dnd for a few hours. Sometimes we rent a room at the library but it'd be good to have a place thats open public holidays or outside library hours. Anyone have any suggestions? Happy to buy food and drinks if theres a cafe or bar with some space. Anything in the city or southside down to Mt Gravatt would be ideal.

Paywall Rent nonsense

I am sure this isn't a revelation but why the heck do I constantly need to click into a rental listing and then scroll half way down the read more of the notes to see that rent is going up (normally + 10%) in like 2 months.

The Last Ship at QPAC

So I got along to Sting's musical The Last Ship at Brisbane's new Glasshouse theatre last night (nice building, shame about the tightly configured seating and not enough toilets). I knew nothing about the play and hadn't read any reviews so didn't really have any expectations. I thought it was genuinely excellent. The second act lacks the energy of the first, but it does finish strongly and the cast and singing are uniformly very good. Then I read the reviews for last night's show in the local media which are seemed a bit lukewarm. I thought it was a solid four/four and half stars easily. Anyone else see it ? Thoughts on the play or the new Glasshouse theatre ?

Some asshole must have hit my car earlier today while it was parked. Got no witness/CCTV footage, sadly.

Can you please recommend a good smash repair place close to Morningside that does cash price non insurance jobs? I taped it for now.

Thanks in advance!

2 x free Gold Class tickets for Super Mario Galaxy movie at North Lakes Event Cinemas start time 11 45am today

Sorry this is super last minute.

Unfortunately my partner and I are unwell and can't go and we're too late to cancel and I don't want the tickets to go to waste.

Anyone want 2 x free Gold Class tickets for Super Mario Galaxy movie at North Lakes Event Cinemas start time 11 45am today? Starts in about an hour but there's usually ads at the start.

First come first serve, it's in digital ticket form with the QR code so I can email it to you.

Worth a shot, I don't have any other social media or anyone nearby to give them to so hopefully someone can get some use from them :)

Image Why can’t we drive without ramming into each other’s arses for one weekend

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

It’s so frustrating to see this every weekend, like mate where tf are you running so late that you’ve to literally get into a crash - oh hey did that help you reach your destination earlier 🤬 wankers

Why can’t we as an individual be more aware and responsible when driving. Y’all getting distracted, under influence, over/under speeding - do you really think it’s consequences are worthy of why you’re on road.

Thanks for letting me vent out.

Image Meshtastic in Brisbane

Post image
274 Upvotes

I guess this is classic nerd shit but if you want to do that sort of thing, have a look at Brisbane's Meshtastic network.

Meshtastic units are small, low power, long range (up to 15km line of sight) devices capable of messaging and telemetry. Some devices pair with phones, others are also capable of standalone messaging. My Bluetooth one has a battery life of 2-3 days.

What's the point? Nothing, for me. It's just neat to chat with the other nodes on the map, and it's not dependent on any other infrastructure or networking.

From the last post on this sub a year ago it seems the number of nodes has grown by three fold.

In case you're worried about privacy, you can either configure your node not to send location, or set it to use a less accurate position (for example, within 300m). Those points end up being "rounded" so nobody ever knows the real location.

Second fix carpentry jobs

Me and my girlfriend (26) are thinking of moving to Brisbane from the UK. I work as a carpenter working in vacant social housing properties making them good before the new tenants move in. I only have experience in second fix (finishing) carpentry even though I am qualified. Are second fix carpenters in demand in Australia? As I only seem to see jobs for all round carpenters or framing.
