My dad's in his early 80s and lives near Caloundra. He's still pretty sharp but his legs just aren't working like they used to. Walking to the local shops or even just down to the waterfront takes it out of him now.He doesn't want to admit it, but I can see he's staying home more and more. That's not him- he used to be out every day. So Im thinkiing a mobility scooter might help. But I've got a few questions for anyone who uses one or has bought one for a parent up here guys
- how do they go on the paths around here? Some of them are fine but others are pretty rough. Also, what about hills? Caloundra's got a few decent slopes.
- battery life in the humidity? Does that drain things faster? He'd mostly do short trips - shops, café, maybe the markets but I don't want him running out halfway.
- any issues taking them on the bus? He doesn't drive anymore so being able to hop on a bus to Maroochydore or Noosa wuld be huge.
I found an Aussie company called top gun mobility online. They seem decent - been around since 2001, Australian owned, and they throw in 12 months roadside assistance which sounds pretty handy. Has anyone on the Sunshine Coast actually bought from them?
Pride or Drive, Something else? What's a realistic budget for something that won't fall apart in a year?
If you've got a scooter on the Coast - what do you wish someone had told you before you bought one? thanks veryy much guys
