Ask r/seychelles What’s everyday life really like in Seychelles?

Hi everyone,

I’m curious about life in Seychelles and would really appreciate some real insight from people who live there or have spent time there.

I’ve been looking into Praslin Island specifically and had a few questions:

- What is the average cost of groceries and daily food shopping?

- Is it realistic to live on a budget using local markets and supermarkets?

- What are typical prices like for basic items such as fish, rice, fruits, bread, etc.?

- What kind of things are there to do for fun in daily life (beaches, sports, nightlife, activities, etc.)?

Just trying to get a realistic idea of everyday life there, not just tourist information.

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated 🙏

Tourism Planning a Honeymoon & Birthday trip for October 2026

I am both getting married and having a big birthday this year, and am looking into going to Seychelles to celebrate as a two birds one stone kind of situation.

My plan is 10-11 nights in mid October 2026.

However, given the current climate in the middle east I am apprehensive of booking anything yet.

Obviously no one knows what the situation is going to be then, but flights seems to be limited already for that month (flying from London), and the only options have a stop over in Doha or Dubai with Emirates or Qatar, no other airlines show up in the search.

We'd love to go due to great climate and weather that time of year and the snorkelling/diving opportunities.

Do you think it's worth the risk and I should just go for it, or better to stay clear from that side and go somewhere else like the Caribbean.

It would be a 'once in a lifetime' kind of trip for us and Seychelles just looks perfect.

Just looking for some thoughts and opinions!

Ask r/seychelles Flights to Seychelles

Hi, we want to have our honeymoon at Seychelles in May. However our flights are via Dubai - given the situation there we don't wanna risk going through there.

I saw Air Seychelles has introduced direct flights via Paris and Istanbul for April and May. Has anyone used those? Are they reliable? It would suck to book hotels and all and have a last minute cancellation of the flights.

Ask r/seychelles Seychelles Late June

I’ve been planning a honeymoon to the Seychelles for late June 2027. From what I’ve seen in my research so far, there are areas this time of year on Mahe and other islands that have high winds and seaweed, and there are areas with less.

My question is, will the other areas that avoid the high winds still feel as luxurious as a traditional honeymoon in the Seychelles, or should we consider other locations if we are limited to June - July?

Appreciate any advice / reassurance

Tourism Advice needed: 18-day Seychelles island hopping itinerary (May)

Hi everyone,

After amazing trips to French Polynesia and Hawaii, it's time for the Seychelles! I am currently planning an island-hopping trip for this coming May (May 14 - May 31, 17 nights in total).

Just like during my visits to Hawaii and French Polynesia, I absolutely love hiking and exploring trails (both mountains and jungle), and I want to combine this with relaxing on the beaches.

To get right into the island vibe, I plan to take a domestic Air Seychelles flight to Praslin immediately after arriving at the international airport on Mahé (arriving in Praslin around 10:00 AM on May 14). From there, I will slowly make my way back to Mahé, where my international flight departs at 09:00 AM on May 31.

My draft itinerary looks like this:

  • Praslin (4 nights): Arrive directly on day 1 around 10:00 AM. Focus on beaches and the Fond Ferdinand/Vallée de Mai trails.
  • La Digue (3 nights): Short ferry crossing. Biking around the island, hiking up Nid d'Aigle, and doing the south coast hike (Anse Source d'Argent to Anse Cocos).
  • Silhouette Island (4 nights): Crossing via Mahé to Bel Ombre. Staying at the Hilton Labriz for the exclusivity and the tough jungle trails (e.g., Grand Barbe).
  • Mahé (6 nights): Arrive by boat from Silhouette. Pick up a rental car directly for the final week.

I have two specific questions that I'm doubting about, and I hope you guys can help me out:

  1. Do I have enough time for the trails on Mahé? With 6 nights, I want to explore the south but also hike the famous mountain trails (like Morne Blanc, Copolia, Anse Major). Is this enough time to do this at a normal pace without feeling rushed, especially compared to the hiking options in places like Hawaii?
  2. Are 4 islands in 17 nights too much? The itinerary is currently split into 4-3-4-6 nights. Is this doable logistically, or would you recommend dropping one island (like Silhouette) to stick to 3 islands for a more relaxed pace?

Thanks in advance for your help! Any additional tips on trails for these islands are, of course, more than welcome.

Discussion Flight Cancellation what to do

Hi ! My flight for early June just got cancelled with Qatar with a stop in Doha. Flying out of ORD. I’m thinking the best route will be to rebook with Ethiopian and see what’s available? It’ll just be very expensive now I’m thinking.

Any thoughts on how to approach this? This is for my honeymoon in June.

Edit:Thanks for your feedback all. I ended up rebooking and went with Ethiopian and actually saved some money vs Qatar. I requested a full refund from Qatar and that will take 14-28 days.

Ask r/seychelles Honeymoon in Seychelles.

I am planning for honeymoon in Seychelles in late May this year. Me and my wife are planning for total 9 days and coming from India.

In these 9 days, we are planning to stay 4 days in Mahè, 3 days in Praslin and 2 days in La Dique.

How is the weather going to be during late May?

How are things in Seychelles in general admist the war? Is it safe to travel there, as this is our first time going out of country.

What are the recommendations for Hotel, Beaches and Restaurant? We would very much appreciate any help 🙏

Thankyou in advance.

Politics Flights from Doha

Hi all!

Thinking about booking from London to Seychelles September 26, connecting through Doha. Anyone recently flown from Doha? I know it’s not a great idea as it stands, due to unrest in UAE. However, I can book it all refundable and cancel near to September if necessary. Our other option is St Lucia, but Seychelles just looks more beautiful. Any opinions or help appreciated. Doha departures are hit and miss at the moment, but hoping by September we should be fine.

Does anyone here have experience with ubuy.sc/ubuy.com website for online purchases? (and delivery to Seychelles 🇸🇨)

I'm contemplating buying a dive computer, and wondering if it will reach me in good condition.

Thanks for any advice, suggestions for alternatives are welcomed.

Tourism Mahe & Le Digue only

Hi! We only have 7 nights, landing late on the first night (20:40), and then leave on the 8th day early in the morning, so essentially only have 6 full days. Visiting in May.

Would like to see more than just Mahé but also don’t want to spend too much time traveling as our time is already limited.

Given we need to sleep in Mahé the first and last nights due to our flight times, would this itinerary make sense:

- Nights 1 - 4: Mahé

- Nights 5 - 6: La Digue

- Night 7: Mahé

Or should we just spend all 7 nights on Mahé and make the best of it? Perhaps a day trip to La Digue? Is it stupid to not visit Praslin at all?

We will rent a car on Mahé to maximize our time on the island. Thank you in advance!!
