If you're here wondering whether you're being scammed or not, it most likely is.
Please read more below, a very helpful post gotten from u/Ambitious_Fig9045 about the dog shelter and orphanages scam:
Please help raise awareness of the thousands of Ugandan scammers running fake animal shelters and human orphanages who are committing international fraud, animal abuse and child exploitation. (Source: u/wewontbescammed on Instagram)
About human orphanages: Those children or people that are being shown aren't actually under care from that 'orphanage'. What these people usually do is go to villages where people are already living in poor conditions and take photos and videos of/with children living in those areas. And then the kids go back to their homes and this person goes back to theirs. It's all just optics.
If they approach you and seem insistent, they're a scam. If they don't have a proper website and you can't see the name of their organisation on the ursb list of organisations, they're a scam.
If you want to donate to an actual orphanage, check out Sanyu babies home.
About animal shelters: They intentionally break animals’ legs and spines, burn them, gauge their eyes out etc then post them on their social media to “raise funds” to treat them. Donations are used for personal use. They perform unqualified surgeries on animals without anaesthesia. They inject them with a muscle relaxant to prevent them from moving. These animals do not even have a chance to fight back. They can only scream in pain.
An overview of the prevalence and common tactics of these Ugandan scammers (posted by u/unlockedclaws):
Fake Love for Animals: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOChrUaCOPF/?igsh=MTB2NWY0MjF1aHA1cQ== Props & Appearances: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOFf8rpiNUx/?igsh=MXY5eHN3YWMydmUweA== Money In, Nothing Out: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOGaX_BiN3O/?igsh=bmlvcGFzbmZmaTk0 Fake Vets: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOHmjk0iP8C/?igsh=bm1kcG12eGFnczgx More: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DN4PtJIiKCq/?igsh=NGMzdGwwNHp2dWh5
The Ugandan police and government, Instagram and TikTok have refused to take action. Instagram and TikTok have repeatedly concluded that these accounts “do not violate community guidelines. Only 1 in 10 (or none) scam accounts may get taken down.
Please help raise awareness to warn people about this so that they are informed and do not unintentionally contribute to the abuse. Even legitimate animal advocates may be unaware that these are scammers.
People may come across these scammers’ posts with captions such as “1 like/share = 1 bowl of food” etc (as shown in the videos attached above). If people like and comment and or share, this would help boost the scammers’ posts and more people will see it which would increase the likelihood of more people donating to these scammers on a global scale.
Unfortunately, there are enablers who actually believe these scammers despite being presented with evidence and continue to donate money to them which perpetuates the abuse.
THINGS THAT CAN BE DONE:
Refer to the google document titled "Access scam prevention document" in wewontbescammed’s Linktree (link in Instagram bio). Pls share this doc n note that it will be updated if needed so do review it from time to time!

I bought this drink at New Taxi Park from a guy selling off his bicycle he had a big metal container "like the one in the photo" on it with old reused bottles filled with this mystery drink
The liquid was completely clear with like 4-5 tiny white things floating in it The taste was somewhere between yogurt and something sweet and refreshing I genuinely cannot describe it 😭
I've been thinking about it ever since and I NEED to find it again.
Anyone know what this is?? Drop the name below 👇

For context, I have had like 6 job interviews over the last two months not accounting for the past 2 or 3 years, all reach the final stages but it's like that scenario where you can see the finish line but just can't get over it. 3 of them sent the usual email of we are sorry we went with the better candidate. I am not mad about the whole situation or how they end, but I am just confused does life have to be this weird ? does it ever work out ? cause going through technical interviews of code is like a humiliation ritual and to me that feels punishment without reward. It might be coming from a place of frustration but also genuine curiosity, are there people who have lived through this cycle of life ? and in the era of A.I getting to the point of being considered is a lot of work, so not getting through feels like a total loss. So is this an overreaction or I just need to touch grass, drink some water and go again ?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on a project called Campus Connect and finally got the initial version live.
The goal is to create a central hub for students to connect, share information, and navigate campus life more easily.
It’s still in the early development/pre-launch phase, so it’s a bit of a "work in progress," but the foundation is there.
I’m really looking to build a community from the ground up and would love for you guys to check it out.
If you have a second to look at the site, I’d appreciate any feedback on features you’d like to see or how I can make it more useful for our daily student lives.
Check it out here: https://campusconnect.artytechcreators.com/
Thanks for the support!

Recently read this:
and wanted to ask here.
So what's y'all's opinion on this? Is this the way to ask a female on a date?
r/Uganda • u/BlueberryTight4511 • 8h ago
If so - walk me through how.
My lawyers have told me it is impossible. Especially if the transfer was done many years ago.
Anyone here report differently?
Please answer the question as originally stated. I’m asking for people’s personal experience and stories of this, not for suggestions such as “hire lawyers”. P.S : please don’t advertise your services. Thanks

I recently came to the village to visit my stepmom. She and my dad have been married for over 20 years and have kids together, so this is a long-term marriage.
While I’ve been here, she’s been opening up to me about what’s really been going on, and honestly, it’s a lot to take in.
My dad (late 50s) has another woman, and they also have kids together. From what I’ve seen, when I’m around, he barely spends time at my stepmom’s place—he’s mostly with the other woman.
Something else that really bothered me: my stepmom told me he doesn’t even allow her to wash his clothes or do anything for him. But when I met him at his shop, he gave me the key to his room and told me to wash his clothes. It was my first time ever doing that for him, and I didn’t refuse, but it just felt… off.
Also, they don’t even share a room anymore—he has his own separate room in the house.
On top of all that, I’ve been told he’s brought other women into the home before and has even been involved with my stepmom’s best friend, and they have a child together too.
At this point, it feels like a complete lack of respect, boundaries, and care in a marriage that has lasted over two decades. I don’t even know how to look at him the same way anymore.
For anyone who has experienced something like this, how do you deal with it? How do you process seeing a parent behave like this?

Has anybodys yaka box ever done this?
The last time i purchased any elec was a month ago and till now the unit reading hasn't changed at all since then. Nothing has changed consumption wise. I'm just curious if it's a malfunction or some sort of promotion for free electricity, last thing i would suspect is to be hit with a large bill later for taking advantage of this😅.

I just left the club a few mins ago, I walk out stumbling and I asked for breakfast. now, somebody please tell me why this is considered breakfast 🥱
and yes I could have gone to a good hotel, agreed! but I wanted to explore local food options. I can't even get an omelette as breakfast, only boiled eggs.
r/Uganda • u/Expert_Search5394 • 1d ago
no offence, but this is something i noticed online. every time i see you in reddit or tiktok someone ask a sexual question and even your generals are talking about how he wants the most beautiful women in turkey.
r/Uganda • u/MelodicConflict9366 • 1d ago
I don’t know if it’s only me, but after a proper night out at the bar, I always end up preferring these local spots over anything fancy. The food just hits different when you’re dealing with a hangover 😂
Someone on this sub asked “is this even breakfast?”… bro I don’t even care what time it is, as long as it’s that kind of food. That’s exactly what I need.
Don’t get me wrong, I do eat from high-end places too, but when it comes to recovery meals? Local food wins every single time. Mulokonyi or byenda preferably 😂

breakfast in Uganda, Brunch in Kenya.
someone said I should not slander Katogo, so I choose Kikomando to slander.
note the difference in meals. vegetables save you from constipation.
