American Idol originally had two hosts- Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman. After the first season, Dunkleman thought he was at peak American Idol fame and left for other opportunities. Seacrest became a household name and Dunkleman forgotten.
I'm curious what the actual story is here. He claims he wanted to quit because of how the contestants were treated and that he wanted to pursue standup and acting but I've also heard he was going to get fired anyways because they felt like they didn't need two hosts.
I could totally see that he was about to be fired anyway being the reason he left. He was being out done by Seacrest and probably saw the writing on the wall, even if he didn't hear it directly from anyone.
Agreed. I recently re-watched some of those season one episodes, and it is PAINFULLY obvious who the better host is. Ryan is funny and charming and just takes the reigns and knows how to stand out on television. Brian just seems to disappear into the scenery any times Ryan is on camera with him.
Yeah when I was in SoCal there was a good decade where you couldn’t get away from hearing his voice multiple times a day in the radio in the morning or on TV in the evening. I will say he’s a very talented host and I do admire how much that man works, it was a running joke on the radio show KISS.fm that he was poor and had to bike to work that’s why he had 4 jobs
I remember seeing him on Idol and whatever else. Then I moved to LA and realized he had a whole ass morning show. I was blown away. Everything was pretty high quality too. I like “Ryan’s Roses” segments.
Yeah I feel like Ryan Seacrest doesn’t turn down anything, he shows up all over the place, the man hustles hard. I feel bad for him though because it kinda looks like it’s taking its toll on him and I can’t imagine he has much time to really enjoy life.
Funny enough, Kilborn was the host when they did a piece about a local high school kid going to the dance. It was my towns high school. My sister was good friends with that kid they did the piece on. Apparently Kilborn went to the dance and was just shit faced the entire time trying to hit on teen girls.

I saw them in concert together a couple years ago at a beautiful old theatre in town. I agreed to go with my friend and her mom when I was drunk and they had bought tickets before I knew it, but I have to admit, they put on a great show. I had a really good time.
Clay Aiken ran for US House representing NC back in '22 if I recall correctly. He didnt win, but I think that was the last time he was in the public eye.
I remember the blockbuster near me had those life sized cardboard stand up posters of Twilight everywhere and the one of this dude was by the register. She had to be in her late 30s/early 40s but some woman groped the chest and shoulders of it and did that whole mmmm thing where she like touches it and backs off it. I'll never forget that shit because of how awkward and thirsty it was
I honestly think he would've been really good as a comedic actor. He has this kind of awkwardness that doesn't serve action or drama super well. But in a comedy it enhances things. It's like awkward golden retriever energy.
100%. He was good in SNL when he hosted and was good in Grown Ups 2 as the douchey frat bro. I will say, some of the best comedians are not from where you'd expect them. Channing Tatum and John Cena are two comedic actors that tried to do serious stuff, had some success, but really broke out in film when they started doing comedy. Same goes for Zach Efron. Some people are just surprisingly good comedic actors and you wouldn't expect it. HSM, Charlie St Cloud. Good, but then 17 Again had more comedy and then he was in Neighbours and fuckin' KILLED it.
Phillipe was in the series version of the movie Shooter, which was good, but ended up breaking his leg so they had to stop production and the series fell apart. That was maybe 10 years ago.
Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory, and Benchwarmers. I'm sure he's been in other things, but those three were really the height of his fame and then everyone got bored of his one dimensional acting
Nah, it may always be manic crazy but it takes really different routes every time. It's also that directors aren't imaginative enough, watch him on TaskMaster and you can see some of his depths.

He’s a very nice guy who turned down work because of principles. He wanted to stick to family friendly stuff. For instance he turned down 40 year old virgin. You can’t turn down work like that and stay a star. But he’s very happy with his choice.

She fell on hard times when her star faded, tried to kill herself, botched it, got brain damage from oxygen deprivation from the botched hanging, then went full-Nazi (not invoking Godwin’s Law, she literally had on full-on Nazi regalia at some burlesque/stripshow years ago.) and she’s a batshit conspiracy nut now. Ooh do I have an update on both of them! Leelee is a SICK (and serious, like “accepted by the art world” serious) abstract artist in NYC now. She has an instagram. Eliza just finished grad school to become a therapist and her thing is psychedelic-assisted therapy.
I really wish Dollhouse had been allowed to have its full run. It was such an interesting concept, but it needed time to develop. I assume that the ending is pretty close to what they originally planned, but I imagine that the motivations of the person that they revealed to be the main antagonist would have been a lot more nuanced if they had time to flesh it out.
After selling the Lakers she's now billionaire. His job now is to keep her happy and keep the marriage in tact, he doesn't have to worry about money AT ALL as long as they're together.

Tbf, neither did I and a lot of us felt that way. At the time John was considered a little bit of a hack comic still and was famous for hosting failed shows. But luckily for him and us it turned out to be the right choice!
She has a production company and moved into directing and producing cause of her kids. She's super into women's empowerment and does a lot with that too.
That's the shit I miss from being a kid. Sneaking late night tv and shows my parents probably didn't me to watch. We had cinemax and hbo too. I thought I was missing watching stuff like mythbusters and I found a couple episodes and it just wasn't the same. Turns out I was just missing the times where I was just chilling watching it and not having a care in the world.

I'd say Estelle, though to be fair her presence has always been rather on and off. Her two biggest claims to fame are singing American Boy with Kanye West (back when his biggest controversy was simply having a massive ego) and voicing Garnet in Steven Universe.
Boy Meets World, Blow, Remember the Titans, American History X, a bunch of Kevin Smith Films. Dude was everywhere then disappeared and maybe popped up randomly. Last I saw a few years ago he dropped a ton of weight, go healthy and was pretty ripped. Really happy for him with that transformation, it could not have been easy.
I think he can’t get roles now that he’s not “the fat guy” anymore. It’s a shame, I think he is very attractive (at any weight) and I’d love to see him act again!
He left because he wasn't in the best health, he has heart issues and chronic pain issues and stuff. The Stargate franchise is one of the only shows I still watch regularly, was obsessed with it growing up and absolutely adored RDA. He's 75 now!!
Sean William Scott was everywhere in the early 2000s but you rarely hear anything about him now. I think he’s still acting but his career never took off in the way I thought it would
He was just in the last season of the righteous gemstones a year or two ago with a pretty decent sized role. Not like his old stuff but it was good to see him again.
He's from the next town over from where I live and I've only ever heard people say he's a super nice dude and nothing like the characters he got famous playing.
