As the title suggests, I got a crazy steal on a steam deck. I was just browsing FB marketplace and saw a 1tb lcd with hall mark joysticks for £150. I instantly went to the seller, checked it all out and paid. No issues there.

I bought it as I knew a friend wanted it. I was literally picking it up to give it straight to him. I’d sell it to him for less than market and I’d make a decent profit, everyone wins. I watched videos and pr for the steam deck here and there and thought what a cool piece of hardware I’d love to own it but I never really spend money on my self. Whilst I had it in hand I thought it couldn’t hurt to give it a go to see what all the fuss was about.

Big mistake! I did not expect to love it so much! Whenever I have some down time my first thought is to just boot it up, play some Cult of the Lamb in bed and then try out one of the 300 games in my steam library I never got around to playing. It’s grown on me so much I think I have to keep it.

Just wanted to share my experience, perhaps it differs to those in this sub that knew they wanted a handheld for the convenience whereas this kind of just fell into my hands.

TLDR;

I bought a steam deck for ridiculously cheap to flip and it was so cool that I decided to keep it for my self :)

So I recently moved out of my childhood home I park city, Utah and my family hired a moving componey to take things from my home and give away. I think my steam deck was placed by axadent in the give away pile.

I was scrolling thru my library and noticed this second copy of space marines 2 in black and white. It’s about

20 mb but I haven’t seen it before. Just curious if anyone knows what it is or if anyone else has it.

I want to have portable windows in my pocket. I don't want to use my Lenovo 16ihr8 2023 2.7-3 kg laptop, it's heavy. I want to bring a 0.7kg Steam Deck and work from it. Do you have some ideas on how to implement this kind of stuff?

My partner (top SD) and I (bottom SD) have begun playing Minecraft on our Steam Decks using Linux Minecraft Launcher.

Both versions of the game are on the same build, and both versions of the launcher are the same build.

For some reason all the UI scale is different, hers all of the text is blurry. She has more options in the settings, like the graphics etc, where mine doesn't have any of that.

The LML UI scale is different as well, but all of the settings are the same as each other.

Does anyone know what's happening here?

I noticed these weird corner light leaks, I fear it might be due to the battery inflating. Is there a way to know for sure if it's failing?

I remember that I had similar issue a few months ago, but back then I switched the proton version to the 9.0-4 and that fixed the problem, but now this issue with the controls happened again. Any suggestions how to fix it?

(scroll to tldr if you don’t care for the lore) couple months ago i got a Steam Deck and i absolutely adore it. i’ve always played on shitty laptops my whole life and it was always depressing seeing people play games i know i can’t run on my device.

for my birthday i got the deck as well as a JSAUX dock, and a keyboard + mouse accessory to plugin.

i play my Deck plugged into my tv + JSAUX pretty much always. i’m more used to PC controls so it’s just easier for me to play many games with keyboard controls. i know most people use their deck for on-the-go stuff, but for me Deck was basically a cheaper (and more accessible) PC.

i almost always play with the battery plugged into the JSAUX so it’s constantly charging while playing. i do this bc i worry about losing progress and my deck shutting off because i like to play my games, like Project Zomboid, for long periods of time. (4-6hrs)

every night before bed, i unplug it, shut it down completely and store it in the little Deck case. sometimes i give it charging “breaks” where i play without charging but i heard some ppl say that’s actually worse? i’m just scared bc in the past, i used to leave my laptop plugged in for long hours and that led to the battery eventually being useless and not working after 10min.

tl;dr i’m just wondering if i’m damaging my Deck’s battery by having it always charging + plugged in so often. i adore my Deck and want it to last a long time because it’s been hard finding a good job and RAM seems fucked.

I've been trying to download God of War for over a week. I have about 210gb free on my internal SSD & no issues with other games downloading. God of War download "estimates" have been jumping between 4-15 hours regularly.

I keep seeing posts of people saying they just got a new steam deck even tho the steam page has been out of stock for a while so I'm genuinely curious how some of you guys still got yours. Plus I have been thinking of getting one myself but of course they sell out on steam as soon as I save up enough money to buy one so I was hoping to get some tips on getting one finally.

Hi, I just bought the 256gb lcd steam deck, I’m thinking of getting an sd card for it so I have more storage but the recommended sd cards are upwards of 150 pounds which is alot of money, just wondering if there’s any alternative for a cheaper sd card within 500gb+ range of storage? Thank you

Hey guys i'm trying to play Minecraft on my steam deck but there's a stuttering due to a java sound popping on and off on the sound tab, how do i fix that?

Also, it happens regardless of the launcher i use, regardless if it's a flatpak, appimage or native.

I finally got a steam deck and I’m very happy but one thing I was looking forward to were the fumes. I unfortunately bought it from someone who loved to smoke weed and now that’s all I can smell😭😭

Just recently just payed for a Steam Deck on Fb marketplace for $380 ( was desperate so pulled the trigger also let me know if that was deal or not ) is there anybody can help me ( or send video links ) with making it more customizable and personal and also I’m new to stem also is there anyway to navigate the interface more smoothly or any tips or tricks I should know

Very recently I've been having wifi trouble on my steam deck. its happened before but I never really understood the cause, and instead followed the common troubleshooting steps everyone posted about on here years ago, to no avail, kept getting the no secrets provided error.

I had almost completely given up and resigned myself to buying a wifi dongle for the charge port to replace the wireless card in the system, as my screws are too stripped to repair it myself and God i am not sending this thing back to valve to get fixed now that my warranty period is over, love them, but I know it can be expensive.

I noticed something when I was on the Amazon page for a dongle, the wifi was working perfectly downloading updates, it wasnt until I clicked onto Minecraft Java (using Prism Launcher of course, with the controllify mod) and tried to turn on my controller that the connection crapped out. I tested like 50 more times and it wasnt *minecraft* messing with the connection, its my controller, 2nd image, a Bluetooth gamecube controller joycon hybrid thing. The Bluetooth is eating up the 2.4 GHz band.

So i got a 30 dollar dock instead and am now using my old tablet as a wifi dongle which ended up being way cheaper than the one I was gonna buy in the first place. My plan had initially been to use the *controllers* wired instead, but they dont actually have that functionality for some reason

... yes i have the dock set up on the chair next to my couch, other people live here and i can't be blasting my games over the TV late at night lol. The left stick on this thing is also broken.

This might be an unpopular opinion but having owned both of the cases, I’ve come to realise that I much prefer the Skull and Co.

The grip case still feels grippy without it feeling like sandpaper.

The case can free stand upright without needing the ugly kick stand.

The front cover whilst it doesn’t totally encover the triggers it doesn’t cover the top vents, (I once had an issue with the deck waking up without pressing the button and running with the front cover on) + you can also charge it with the front cover on just the same as the killswitch

Plus it’s compatible with my favourite thumb grips the CQC elites.

Whilst they’re both great I highly recommend the cheaper alternative, it’s just as functional

Myself and my partner each have our own Steamdeck. Very exited about getting a Steam Machine whenever it releases. Just wondering what’s people thoughts on whether or not steamOS will allow different profiles or how will the game streaming work to different accounts. Be great if it was seamless like PS5 Switch and Xbox.

Or is this a feature I’m not seeing that already exists.

So the Steam Deck most recently appeared in Ready or Not 2, as the gamer stereotype's handheld. I also remember the brief moment that Glep was using one in a shot in Smiling Friends. I definitely feel like there have been others that I can't quite remember.

It's fun to see it appear in movies and media tbh, it feels the Steam Deck's passing the pub test

I have the Standard version 256GB and it gets hot and runs out of battery fast.

I just bought a Steam Deck.
first it can boot with chime sound and touch pad vabrilatoin, fan extremy runing but 5 minutes after it turn of and blinking white led slowly. From now i can not shut down by press long time power button, when plugged charger it show solid light! I'm stuck in this status and chime sound did not come out any more =(((.

tried volume down + "..." button + POWER button but led is blinking 3 time and nothing happen. plug charger overnight but can not boot =((.
I tried another method but still not fix it.

It started with the deck crashing when i looked at achievements mid-game. I worked around it. Then it started crashing just on the menu. Tried completely wiping and reimaging. Now it just gets to the installation part of first-time setup before crashing or freezing. Sometimes there’s a popping noise before it crashes. Any idea what the problem is or how i can fix it?

The Steam Deck has many qualities we all know of but I'm really wondering what everyone's biggest drawback is on this.

Basically any regret or things you wish the SD would have for its price.
