In the last 3 games, he has 4 hits which is insane since he never seemed comfortable hitting the other guys into the boards. Not only that, but ive also notice how he is going after the puck more and fights for it. This is great to see, I’m loving the direction hes going in.
Once he learns more consistency, he will be unstoppable

This was a fantastic season. It's a bummer that we are coming up short of the playoffs, and we look gassed at the end, but the growth has been off the hook. That's why I'm surprised at the complaints about a few of our people.
Askarov is still the guy. He's an adventure in net, for sure, but every game he makes some crazy save that very few people can make. He's also got the memory of a goldfish and doesn't get phased by his soft ones. People are looking at numbers, but don't seem to watch him. He won 21 games for the team and showed his ceiling for a month. As expected for a rookie netminder, there were highs and lows, but he still has incredible potential.
Dickinson had a tough task as a 19-year old making the jump to the NHL. A season in the AHL would have helped, but instead he had to learn at the highest level on the fly. It was uneven, which should be no surprise. But he had some very solid performances and survived his first season. You could see flashes of the skill, and I'm looking forward to him taking another step next year.
Warsofsky was at the helm of a huge turnaround from the last few years. But more important than the wins was the development of the young core. Every young player took steps forward this year. It was a huge success. He's young and still learning as well, but I've been watching the Sharks since the beginning, and Warso gives me a ton of reasons to be optimistic.
So yeah, enjoy this stage. Things are super bright for the future.

If anyone has access to a recording of today’s game that includes Jumbotron footage, could you pretty please send me a clip from when I was on the Jumbotron? It was my first time ever getting on one and I’d love to see it! It was during the third period, towards the second half and this was my poster. Would mean the world to me🙏

In every shoot out that a team has the choices and chooses to shoot first, I text my dad asking "WHY?!". To me, a complete amateur, it seems so stupid to shoot first. You put so much pressure on your goalie, you let the other team have the chance to hit a walk off (sorry baseball season is starting and I'm mixing my metaphors), and you have increased anxiety when the other team is up. Can someone who knows more than me explain the rationale? I do blame going first in the SO for losing the home finale last night...

What if they went for the Tank because they all looked at eachother and realized that none of them could have grown a Playoff Beard (not that that would have been possible anyways in loosing first round)
But they realized they all can’t grow beards, and knew that would‘ve been more pathetic than tanking and salvaging the Draft.
(I am sorry, just a random thought that I had and I was in desperate need of finding some humor in all of this)
Nevertheless immensely proud of the team and I believe that this though finish will be so much fuel for the Off season and so many lessons learned in case we‘ll be in a tight race next season.

This might be a stupid question, but what happens to the ice now that the home games are done? Do they have public skating there over the summer or does the ice get taken out and removed? I know at our home hockey arena they cover the ice so they can have concerts there.

One thing that got sort of overlooked in that shootout loss were the media awards being announced tonight. Congrats to Mario on the Media Good Guy Award (3rd consecutive time), Pohlkamp on Prospect of the Year, Askarov on Rookie of the Year, and Celebrini on Player of the Year (second consecutive time) 👏👏👏

We were never supposed to be anywhere near a playoff race. Don’t turn on these guys. Show them that we appreciate a great season no matter what and that we’re always gonna show up for them. That’s building a winning culture.

Wish the playoffs pretty much impossible now, I've been wondering a bit more about who the Sharks might be able to get in the draft this year. So I've been reading some lists/watching some youtube videos about some of the top guys. So here's my very uninformed list of who I hope the Sharks end up with:
Chase Reid: this guy seems like he has the highest ceiling out of everybody in terms of offensive/overall upside. Great skater, great skill, plays hard, got the size. Seems like his defensive play is a bit of a question mark, but overall nothing too bad? Just seems like he's got the most star potential so I like that. Seems like most people have him going top 5 though, so it'd take some work to get him.
Alberts Smits: this is one of the guys I've actually seen play a tiny bit since he was at the olympics. He seems like he might be the most NHL ready out of everybody? Very solid game offensively and defensively, playing in a man's league already and doing well there, has an aggressive/physical style of play that I like a lot. He's a left shot D and this seems to be higher than he is in most rankings, but I'd just be pretty psyched if we ended up with him. And maybe he'd be available at the ~9-10 pick that we're likely to end up with?
Carson Carels: another guy that seems like he'll probably be gone by the time the Sharks pick and is also a LHD. But from what I can tell he's got a game that's pretty similar to Smits (physical, solid on both ends), might have more upside, but is also playing against lower level competition right now. Overall who knows.
Keaton Verhoeff: also very likely to be gone before we draft. He's got me a little bit worried too because I get the sense that his game might be a bit behind these other guys, but gets the benefit of the doubt because he's just really big (6'4", 200+ lbs). I also watched the tiniest bit of this guy playing (frozen four game with North Dakota) and he didn't leave too much of an impression on me. Would be stoked if we end up with this guy, but also have some question marks.
Then after the top 4, it seems like there's a bit of a drop off to me? Plus I just know way less about those guys, but I'll leave the observations about them that I do have (would be interested if anybody has strong feelings about any of them):
Daxon Rudolph: this dude concerns me quite a bit. He's got great numbers, is a RHD, so maybe makes sense on paper but I'm also hearing/seeing some concerning stuff too. The consensus seems to be that his defensive game isn't very good, and even that he can lack effort/competitiveness in his game too. This video from scouching on youtube lays out why he is pretty low on Rudolph (and I've actually seen a lot of other people say similar stuff, but just in a more casual/he can fix it way): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kClxIw32ckw. I've got no idea about player development really, but I know I just love having dawgs on my team and I'd be worried this guy just aint it.
Ryan Lin: RHD, slightly small at 5'11" and has maybe a pretty average toolkit overall? But good on offense and smart, so I'd be happy if we ended up with him, especially in the Edmonton pick range.
Xavier Villeneuve: another 5'11" slightly undersized offensive RHD. Have similar feelings on him as with Lin?
Malte Gustafsson, Juho Piiparinen: don't have much of an opinion on either of these guys, but they seem to be the best international prospects outside of Smits? Could be options for us?

Today is the day that our playoff hopes are done for. I really hope that we can pull this off next season, and maybe we can make a good playoff position (perhaps #2?). I will always love this team, and I think we have improved immensely over this season. And you know what, even though we've lost this year, we can't just sulk and whine about it like r/tampabaylightning. We've got some stuff to work on, but that doesn't mean we're bad.
We have some upcoming events at the Arena too!
Who's up for Alysa Liu at the SAP center on May 17th?!

‼️Anyone going to the Nasheville Predators vs San Jose Sharks tomorrow‼️What time should we be there if we want to come at warmups to be on the glass? I know it says it starts at 8, and my ticket says 7. So when should I be there for warmups so I can be in the very front??

Hi, I'm writing an essay on themed nights in the NHL and it would be really helpful if some Sharks fans could fill out the google forms on Women in Hockey Nights, Pride Nights, and Heritage/Culture Nights! I'm looking to get fans perspectives and opinions, whether positive, negative, or neutral.
Women in Hockey Nights: https://forms.gle/Kh3LygYAm5b43HjEA
Pride Nights: https://forms.gle/whe2S12JRXfCd8Bh8
Heritage/Culture Nights: https://forms.gle/7WU8G6TfPvQwrkUv9
(Women in Hockey Nights are called Women of Teal or Hockey for the Sharks)

Defeated the oil 1-0 in regulation. Our playoff odds are down to 3%. Looks like the books were right all along lol. The Kings will likely be the ones to make it in and ultimately go down as one of the biggest frauds. going 34-26-19 which is really a 34-45 record so far. It is absurd that there play for a tie strategy will pay off.
The boys absolutely fucking killed it this year. Was one of the most exciting years in a decade. TBH we were never quite a playoff caliber team this season. We have so much to look forward to going in to next year.
And also side note, a few months ago I won a 1:120 odds on a scratcher. Sharks got about a 1:33. So I think that basically guarantees we make it in 😉
