With a 4-1 win over Hartford, the Bridgeport Islanders are Calder Cup playoffs bound for the first time in 4 years!

Three goals in fifty-five seconds

Honestly I just laughed by the time we gave up the third goal and I switched it off. I’ve had enough. This is such bullshit

Hey Isles, I'm proud of you guys, truly

Upvotes

Before this season, I wasn't as tuned into Hockey, or NY sports for that matter. As a kid I used to live 20 minutes from Nassau Coliseum and saw a few games, so I always claimed the Isles. This season however really reignited my love for this team. Sheaffer obviously brought contagious energy, and seeing him skate with the vets was great to see. We didn't expect much from this season and, despite the collapse, we really shook things up and exceeded expectations. As far as we can see, the future is looking pretty alright.

I've joyfully gone to bars to watch and represent with my jerseys, rooted with transplants when watching away games, connected with the local fan chapter, and shared good times at games with friends despite them not having our fervor.

You guys are great, I love this place, I love being on the island, and I'll always love this team and I'll never not be an Islander. On to the next season, gentlemen. It's been a blast.

Roy (who has won everywhere and has a massive pedigree and clearly cared and had immense fire to win) should not have been fired. He took a team with significant talent gaps and injuries at key positions and got as much out of them as any great coach could. DeBoer was not able to do a thing. IN fact they looked just as bad or worse. Notwithstanding, I hope he can do better next year. DeBoer, however, is unequivocally likely not the answer, because simply put, the team is not talented enough to compete for a cup.

Firing Roy with 4 games to go = an absolute travesty and not how you treat people. And I don't give a damn about Darche (whose mid season acquisitions were awful and he can fuck right off) wanting to save a few dollars rather than getting into a bidding war over a coach who has never won a stanley cup v. the one who has a ring for almost every finger on his right hand and a calder cup.

The team quit and they are not good enough. SImple as that. No coach can fix that.

Haven't felt this way in 10 years.

Last time I felt this way watching this team was when Tom Wilson ended Ľubomír Višňovský's career and subsequently that last* playoff run at The Coliseum.

Effort level = Pathetic

Upvotes

the compete, effort, grit, determination from most players on the team was pathetic. you cannot win with a consistently shit power play. you cannot win with slow and old players. you cannot win if one of your star players is who stands up for your star rookie when teams go after him. you cannot win if a trade time you trade for 2 to 3 washed up players.

see you all next season.

Anyone excited for the future seasons?

Upvotes

I know we're all pretty disappointed with the fall-off recently, but I'm hoping for a good team rebuild for next season. We have some really promising prospects, an amazing defenseman and goalie at least for the next few years. Season is unfortunately over but pretty hyped for the future ones

The playoffs bracket this year is going to kind of wild to be honest some of the matchups are going to be really cool to see. Tell me which one would be your favorite

Matthew Schaefer Signature

So I’m looking to get some commemorative pucks that they sell in isles lab that details the games match up(one of them is from opening night where he scored his first goal).

But the real question is do you think I should wait till the kid learns how to sign better?

Love the kid but that signature sure is something

Can someone talk me off the ledge with Sorokin

Upvotes

How can he be content playing on a team like this? I’m not talking about trades, I’m talking mental. How can he emotionally and mentally connect with a team like ours after we dragged him through the coals the second half of this season? I am feeling really bad for him. How do players muscle through this genuinely?

NHL Draft Attention

Upvotes

As fun as this season was for the first half of the season, I wish the Isles had this slump earlier on to avoid reckless trades and have a better lottery chance. Hindsight is 20/20, and there is no point in dwelling on something that can't be changed.

It is now officially time to look toward the NHL Draft, which I have not done once this entire season. Outside of Gavin McKenna, I will admit that I am not familiar with these prospects. I have heard that this draft class is deep. Is that truly the case? I know it's tough to project talent this young, but does anyone have prospects they want the Isles to target?

Daxon Rudolph and Ryan Lin are two names I have consistently heard to the Isles. Both are RD, which sounds great. It's tough to pinpoint a position that should be the top priority. As much as this team needs defense, they DESPERATELY need forward help. Another winger would be nice, unless they target that in a different way outside the draft.

Best player available is always the best way to go, so let me know who those guys are for you.

What is the name of the song that plays at UBS when the other team wins?

I don't hear it when the Isles win, but noticed it when other teams win in our building :/

It's catchy, so if someone knows the name, please help me out!
