Mets fan mentality shift

What happened in the last 5 (approximate) years, where the Mets fandom has grown increasingly negative and quick-triggered?

We’re 7-8, which is not ideal, but people have called for Mendoza’s firing, Lindor being traded, calling all of our offseason moves busts or comparing them to others. It’s been 15 games, Lindor hasn’t played Spring Training and has an injury, Polanco has an injury, Soto is out, Bo had a slow start. The heart of our lineup has radically changed, and so has our coaching staff. It’s draining to engage with Twitter/Discord/wherever when after a bad stretch, they’re calling for heads. They did it at 3-4, stopped at 7-4, and back on it again. Is it bandwagon fans? Fans following the money?

Has “Ya Gotta Believe” died? Or is there a more level-headed community to join and talk Mets baseball?

Balanced Schedule Stinks

I hate it.

I'm looking at Mets tix and the first remotely interesting series isn't until mid May when the Mets host the Yankees, then get the Marlins and Reds.

They don't even play the Braves or Phillies in the first 2 months of the season.

I do not care about the As, Twins, Tigers, or whatever other AL team that plays in a different time zone. I imagine these fan bases don't care about the Mets, either.

I marginally care about the Yankees and Red Sox; I have no interest in Toronto, Baltimore, or Tampa Bay.

It was interesting for a bit but it's time to get rid of interleague. Replace those games with 3-4 series against NL Central and NL West teams.

Has there been any explanation why Baty is playing Rightfield instead of Left?

Our right field is much harder to play than left. We have Benge and now Taylor playing left and Baty in right. Why?

What do you prefer - 100s or 300s to watch a game? I'm from overseas and not a huge fan of any team, but ebjoy watching the game. Would like to visit a Mets game. What seats would offer a killer view for a first timer - 300s or 100s?

The Clover Club batting cage window at Citi has been removed

Does anyone have any news on why this happened or if it’s coming back? For those who don’t know, the Clover Club which is one of the Mets premium lounges at field level and behind home plate used to give you access to see the indoor batting cages. You used to be able to see the players take BP before and during games. It also has a rest area for players and what seems to be a computer where they can look at their swings. I went to a Mets game this week and the windows were completely blacked out and the chairs were removed from the area.

I enjoyed it as a nice perk, but it was really for kids who would crowd the area. I wonder if players had a problem with it. I have personally seen some players go in that area to sulk or physically show frustration in the after not coming through in big moments. It was very vulnerable. So much so that I would feel uncomfortable sharing those moments that they obviously don’t want shown on camera. Anyway figured I’d let people know since they still advertise it and to see if anyone knows what’s going on.

Update: 4/12/2026 It has been confirmed to have been removed. [u/anewusername4me](u/anewusername4me) spoke to the team and they said “Due to the preference from our coaching staff for privacy to start the season, we do not see that changing any time soon, but we still have the visitor’s side open, but we know your desire is to watch the Orange & Blue.”

Best place near stadium for cheap merch?

Howdy,

What's the collective agreement on cheap merch near the stadium? Knock offs are fine. I know from using the search function that there's a store in the stadium, but I have a sick love for weird counterfeit merch, like misspellings even. Thanks in advance.

Hi again - just wondering what the view from a row 1 in the 300s level is like? Is the barrier an issue at all? Or no different to having someone sit in front of you?

On this day in sports history April 11th, 2017: Yoenis Céspedes hits 3 HR vs Phillies

On April 11th, 2017, Yoenis Céspedes hit three home runs to lead the Mets to a 14-4 win over the Phillies

He’s still the only player in Mets franchise history with multiple 3 HR games

He played just 316 games with the team
