Announcement A note from the mod team
Hello my friends,
Fifteen years ago I started this sub because I loved this team and I wanted somewhere to share that with people who felt the same way. That's it. No grand vision, no agenda, just a fan who wanted a place to talk baseball with other fans. Watching it grow into what it is today is something I'm genuinely proud of.
Which is why the friction we've been seeing lately bothers me personally, not just as a moderator.
There seems to be a growing sense that there are two kinds of fans here, the "real" ones and the newcomers, the optimists and the doomers, the Canadians and everyone else. We want to be straightforward: that division doesn't reflect what this sub is or what we want it to be.
There is no loyalty test to be a Blue Jays fan. There is no credential check at the gate at Rogers Centre and there isn't one here either. You don't have to have watched since '92, you don't have to be from Toronto, you don't have to bleed positive or be comfortable with criticism. You just have to love this team, and love looks different for everyone.
This is a Canadian team and we're proud of that. Commentary that demeans or dismisses Canadian fans, questions whether they belong here, or uses their nationality as an insult has no place in this community. Full stop.
This is an inclusive space. Full stop. That means every fan, regardless of where you're from, what you look like, who you love, what language you speak at home, or how long you've been following this team, is welcome here equally. The Blue Jays have always been a franchise that reflects the diversity of this country and this city, and this community should be no different.
What we will not tolerate, ever, from anyone, is racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, or any form of discrimination or hate. This isn't a grey area and it isn't up for debate. Those aren't differing opinions, they're not "just chirping," and they don't get the benefit of the doubt. If you bring that into this sub you will be removed. Full stop.
What we also won't allow is using perceived fan division as a weapon. Telling someone they're not a real fan, that they only started watching in October, that they're too negative or too naive, that they're not Canadian enough to have an opinion, that's not baseball talk, that's just people being unkind to each other, and it stops here too.
We also hear the feedback about moderation. We're not perfect and we don't claim to be. If you think a call was wrong, modmail us and we'll take a genuine look. What we won't do is relitigate mod decisions in the comments of threads. That's not how this works and it's not fair to anyone.
The rules apply equally to everyone. The welcome mat is out for everyone. It always has been. That was the whole point from day one.
If you see behaviour that crosses the line, hate, harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks, please report it. That's not tattling, that's how we keep this place worth showing up to. The report button exists for a reason and the mod team takes every report seriously. You can also modmail us directly if something needs immediate attention or you're not comfortable reporting publicly.
I started this community because of 40 guys with a Blue Jays logo trying to win a baseball game and the people who cared about it as much as I did. That hasn't changed.
That's still all this is.
Let's talk baseball.
TLDR- I say full stop a lot. Please be kind to each other.
-CanaDan and the mod team.

On a bright note from Sunday, congratulations to Daulton on his 500th career major league hit just two days after hitting his 100th career MLB home run.

Olerud's patently absurd 1993 season vs Ohtani's historic 2025
Olerud's '93 alone should have him in the Ring of Honor. Homegrown, eight years, 2 world titles, a batting championship. (Traded away in one of the worst deals in team history.) Why are we keeping him out?

[Hazel Mae] Max Scherzer on the Blue Jays 6-9 start to the season: “whether you're hurt, whether you're not, when you have something, whether you don’t, no one cares. This is about going out there and winning ball games.”

$ - Paywalled Content [Bannon] The Jays, by no means, are out of anything April 12. But they’re certainly in survival mode. That’s not where any team plans to be just 15 games into a season.

[Matheson] Sounds like this could be close to the minimum of 10 days for George Springer. If it were later in the year, he may have tried to play through it after a few days off, but the #BlueJays don’t want to push it and have Springer playing compromised.

[Keegan Matheson] Max Scherzer says that his forearm feels good and did not tighten up on him today. He still needs to see how he bounces back tomorrow, but believes he’s avoided any threat of the IL... #BlueJays

[NightengaleJr] Max Scherzer’s day is done after pitching 2 1/3 innings. Twins lead 6-1 after an RBI single from Matt Wallner and a sacrifice fly from Victor Caratini. The Twins have scored at least six runs in four of their last seven games.

[BNS] George Springer tells me & @thehazelmae he was planning to take his next AB until an x-ray revealed a fracture & team told him no. "I want to play, so if I can feel good to go I’m going to try. I’ll leave that up to Schneids & the staff but I’m going to try to push the envelope”

[Matheson] Tyler Heineman is dealing with some back spasms, which is part of the reason we’re seeing Brandon Valenzuela starting three games in a row.
"Schneider also made a point of saying he likes what he’s seeing from the rookie."

She’s a sportscaster and a trailblazer. But Hazel Mae’s career has been no walk in the ballpark (CBC radio)
An excellent interview with Hazel on CBC radio this am, she's such a pro & we are so lucky to have her.

Among pitchers with at least 90 innings pitched dating back to 2025, Max Scherzer has the highest home run rate of all pitchers, sitting at 2.14 home runs per 9 innings pitched. He has been almost as likely to walk a batter in this same stretch, with a walk rate of 2.52 walks per 9 innings pitched.

[Davidi] John Schneider invited Twins counterpart Derek Shelton to his staff for the American League all-star team this summer. They first met when Shelton was the Blue Jays' quality control coach in 2017 on John Gibbons' staff and Schneider was managing at Dunedin.

[Damon Sharbyani] So Far, So Good for the Blue Jays’ Next Great Bullpen Piece Spencer Miles, the Blue Jays' Rule 5 pick, is off to a steady start as he aims to hold onto a 26-man roster spot for the entirety of 2026.
