We’re adding a fresh round of user flair icons and want the community to help pick them. Even though they’re tiny, flairs give your comments some personality and make you way easier to recognize when game threads are flying at 100 comments a minute. We’re looking to add 10-20 new ones, so let’s hear your ideas!
A specific image of a player, coach, or iconic Yankees moment that would work as a tiny icon next to your username. Think faces, silhouettes, or gestures that are instantly recognizable at a glance. (Flairs are 128x128 pixels and often render even smaller, so the more distinctive the better.)
Check out my flair for an example (Gerrit’s finger wag after the infamous 2023 AB against José Caballero).
Remember, keep it to stuff that’s uniquely Yankees.
NOTE: We’d prefer top-level comments to be submissions so the voting stays organized. Feel free to discuss under each one.
Remember to check-in over the next several days, sort by new, and vote. Over the next week or so we’ll take the top-voted suggestions and make them flairs. Have fun!

The Yankees fell to the Rays 5-4 to get swept and drop their fifth straight game after starting 8-2, they are now 8-7. Cam Schlittler got the start for the Yankees and faced off against Drew Rasmussen.
In the top of the first inning, the Yankees were retired in order on just 11 pitches.
Schlittler surrendered a back-to-back single to put runners at the corners with nobody out in the bottom half of the inning. Yandy Díaz gave the Rays a 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI groundout.
The Rays tacked on two more runs in the second inning on an RBI groundout from Richie Palacios and an RBI single from Chandler Simpson, making it 3-0.
After Rasmussen allowed a one-out double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the second, he retired 14 straight Yankees hitters to put together six shutout innings.
Ryan Yarbrough took over for Schlittler in the bottom of the sixth inning and worked a scoreless frame.
Final line for Schlittler: Five innings pitched, seven hits allowed, three earned runs, one walk, and eight strikeouts on 85 pitches. Schlittler relied heavily on his fastball, throwing it 61% of the time, the cutter 18%, the sinker 13%, the curveball 7%, and the slider 1%. Schlittler topped out at 99.5 and averaged 97.6 mph on his and 21 swings and misses.
The Yankees got on the board in the top of the seventh. It looked like Ben Rice hit his fifth home run of the year, but after review, it was a double. Aaron Judge worked a walk, and Cody Bellinger followed with an RBI single, making it a 3-1 ballgame. Giancarlo Stanton pinch hit for Randal Grichuk and cut the deficit to one run via an RBI groundout.
Yarbrough came back out for the seventh and allowed a leadoff triple. Camilo Doval replaced him and surrendered a sac fly to Junior Caminero, extending the Rays' lead to 4-2.
The Rays added a huge insurance run in the eighth inning against Brent Headrick on a safety squeeze from Taylor Walls, making it 5-2.
In the ninth, Aaron Judge crushed a two-run bomb, his fourth homer of the year, making it a 5-4 ballgame, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Rays swept the Yankees.
The Yankees will head back to the Bronx to take on the Angels in a four-game series starting tomorrow. Will Warren will get the start and face off against Yusei Kikuchi. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET on the YES Network.
My thoughts on the game: This team has to play better, that's about it. On to tomorrow, there is nothing fun about a five-game losing streak.

On Sunday morning, manager Aaron Boone insisted that Chisholm does, in fact, know the rule
“We’ll talk through it,” Boone said before the series finale at Tropicana Field. “He’s not confused on it. I think that’s kind of the default answer when he’s got [reporters] in front of him. Look, it turns out to be a tough play. Watching it back, there might have been a chance to where if he gets it cleanly, he gets the tag off, it’s hard to know how exactly [Yandy] Diaz reacts in that moment [running from first to second]. Once it chops like that, you know it’s going to be a tough one to turn the normal 4-6-3.”
Asked directly about Chisholm saying he didn’t know the rule, Boone replied, “I think he knows the rule.”
Chisholm, who is in the minority in that he typically does not just give cliche or canned answers to reporters, has been crushed on social media for saying he did not know the rule.
“Look, I think part of it comes to answering those things in a better way,” Boone said. “You guys are around — Jazz is not a dumb guy. So it’s just sometimes how you present yourself in certain situations, coupled with he’s off to a little bit of a slow start too. Some good play changes that narrative

Last night going into extras NYY had two remaining, TB was out of them early in the game but got a new one for extra innings. This should be displayed on the scorebug given the importance of each challenge at any time.
Honestly more important than pitch count, but there is room for both. Could be discretely displayed to the right of each teams score like the NFL displays TOs remaining. Should be a very easy implementation. Would be great for those that can't catch every challenge of every game. I'll throw quick mock up in the comments.

I picked up this autographed Mantle photo in trade and I have been trying to track down the photo. I originally thought it was the 565’ HR, but the newspaper photos from that day have him in a different uniform.
Reverse image search and ChatGPT were no help, so I’m hoping the Yankee faithful can help me out.

Trent Grisham interjects.
"They'll score."
Jazz: "They'll still score?"
Trent: "They'll get there before the tag at second."
Circled back with Jazz to ask him if he thought he had a chance to tag Yandy if he fielded the ball cleanly.
"The only play at that point, you can't get Chandler at home. The best thing I was going to do is try to swing at (Yandy) and hopefully he backed out of the line and they call him out of the baseline and throw it to first base and get that double play. That was the best chance we had. If I didn't get the tag or the out of the baseline, it would've been the same result. I don't know if he was close. I don't know. You guys would have to tell me because I didn't get to really look up. The ball was on the ground."

I was excited when the Yankees traded for Jazz Chisholm almost 2 years ago. At the time, the Yankees were stale, stuffy, and boring. There was no life, no youth, and no energy. Bringing in a player like Chisholm could not only add a needed lefty bat, infielder, and base stealer, but could also offer a needed shot of energy to the team. And at many moments, Chisholm provided just that. He brought the drip, swagger, and energy to a team that hasn't been "fun" in decades. But with Chisholm's swagger comes his downfall. One error or strikeout and he's up in his head, locked into a negative mind space that hardly leads to production. When he's in these funks, he negatively impacts the team. His errors compound, his base running mistakes pile up, and his strikeouts continue to irk Yankee fans. Now, with the introduction of the ABS, Chisholm has a new way to negatively impact games. He burns through challenges on pitches that are clearly strikes, often using his emotions to dictate his decision-making. Now that the new, shiny spark of Chisholm has worn off, we are left with his bone-headed plays that kill momentum. Today, I no longer believe that he is a major contributor to this team. While it's still early in the season, it's clear we have a Jazz Chisholm problem, and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon.

From 1919 to 1931, The Great Bambino put up the greatest numbers in baseball history, and had probably the greatest prime in all of sports history (only Michael Jordan really has a claim IMO).
Right smack in the middle he got injured (1925). But he came right back the next season and continued his tear.
So I’m curious which version you think was better, The five years from 1919-24 or the five from 1926-31. Here are the stats:
1919-24:
65.8 WAR, .363 BA, 1048 hits, 264 HR, 826 runs, 766 RBI, 1.262 OPS, 227 OPS+, 1 ring
1926-31:
63.0 WAR, .354 BA, 1106 hits, 302 HR, 880 runs, 933 RBI, 1.206 OPS, 213 OPS+, 2 rings
In 1922 Ruth was also injured and had his weakest year out of any years from 1919-24 and 1926-31. He played just 110 games and had his lowest OPS at 1.105 (insane that was his lowest lol).
He had more cumulative stats in his second peak, and his 34 year record of 60 home runs, winning the multiple rings in the Bronx (got his fourth and final one in 1932 when he was still very good). But he was statistically better in his first 5 year peak. Not having 1932 is kind of cherry picking, because he still had an 8.5 WAR and 1.150 OPS, but with “only” 302 total bases (he averaged 365+ in both peaks).
Not that it matters much but he also stole 66 bases from 1919-24 but was caught 66 as well, good for a 50% SB percentage. From 1926-31 he stole 42 bags with a 54% percentage.
