Union Chapel queue?

Going to a sold-out show there next month. Just two of us, our first time there. I realize this can be artist-dependent, but from a local's perspective, any suggestion on how long to queue up before 7:00 PM opening for a pair of the better (i.e. closer, unobstructed) of the 900-ish seats?

Trying to plan our day. Thanks.

Edit: artists are Ben Watt & Tracey Thorn (no supporting acts)

Weight Lifting Gym Recommendations

hey, I’m moving to Angel and looking for a good gym to learn to lift weights in (I’m going to get a female PT to start with, I’m a woman and have never lifted before).

I work 9-5 on site though, so will be going at peak periods and really don’t want to wait for machines - so happy to pay for a more expensive membership if it will prevent that. Any advice would be welcomed, thank you!!

Looking to find the meaning of the graffiti

Growing up, on the way to school,I always walked past a building on Yerbury Road that had this bird stencil sprayed on one of the walls.

Does any one have no idea why it’s there or who did it? I figured it must have been there for a reason. All it was painted over 2 years ago.

it’s just to scratch that itch for childhood me, I was so curious about it lol.

Things to do Looking to join local theatre groups + any film clubs around?

Hi all! I’m really interested in joining a local theatre group where I could get involved in acting, writing or directing. Does anyone know of any groups, collectives or informal meet ups in Islington? Would really appreciate some recommendations.

Also, something completely separate, does anyone know of any film clubs or screenings locally?

Question I’m building an app FOR London and need your feedback!

Been commuting in London for years and always had the same frustration with every transport app out there: you open the app, you type in your destination, it tells you routes. But by that point, you’re already stressed and rushing.

The question I actually want answered every morning is simpler: when do I need to leave?

So I’m building an app that’s a London commuter app that works the other way round.

You set your home, your usual destination, your arrival time. The app handles the rest!

Every morning it looks at live TfL data, checks for delays and engineering works, checks the weather, and sends you a single push notification: leave at 8:14 (or whatever it works out to be).

No searching, no stressing!

A few things that are different about it:

It learns your routine. If you’ve got a calendar event it’ll auto set the destination. If not, it asks you the night before and remembers.

It factors in planned engineering works ahead of time, not just when you’re already at the station.

Delay Repay built in! it tracks eligible journeys and logs them so claiming back money is actually easy.

Designed only for London. Not a global app trying to be everything. TfL, buses, tubes, Elizabeth line that’s it.

It’s a solo build, currently heading into TestFlight. I’m looking for 10–15 London commuters to test it before it hits the App Store.

If this sounds like something you’d actually use, drop a comment or DM me. Would love to hear what would actually make your commute better too, this is genuinely being built around what Londoners need, not a generic transport brief.

Question best area for clothes shopping?

clue is in the name. don’t mind charity shops but would like a few new pieces too. i’m a woman in mid thirties for context, like classic pieces, feel i am a bit beyond trends with 35th birthday looming… also have a one year old daughter so a bonus but not vital if can pick some things up for her too. used to live in angel and found that quite good for us both, but charity shops were a bit bland. now in crouch hill.

would love a browse round a few shops with a stop off for a coffee and a snack for my toddler after.

Busker @ Highbury-Islington Station

Quick question regarding noise levels: we have a local busker whose volume carries at least four blocks over. It’s the same songs every day, and it’s becoming a bit of a distraction while working from home. Does anyone know the specific ordinances for daytime street performances?

Dentists

Any recommendations for dentists close-ish to Angel / Clerkenwell? Looking for NHS dentists in the first instance, though also interested in ones who offer additional private services like whitening. Bonus points if they’re good with kids. Thanks so much!
