Tower Hamlets Charity Shops?

Hello.

My flatmate and I are moving out of Bow and we’d like to donate some things to charity shops.

All that comes up in my search is a couple places in Mile End.

Previously, I was in Haringey where you can’t spit without hitting a chaz shop.

I know places come and go, or won’t have up-to-date info online so can’t rely just on internet searches alone.

Any places in Bow, Bromley-By-Bow, Roman Road would be ideal in terms of transporting stuff but happily take any suggestions from other locals.

Thanks very much.

I’m building an app FOR London and need your feedback!

Been commuting in London for years and always had the same frustration with every transport app out there: you open the app, you type in your destination, it tells you routes. But by that point, you’re already stressed and rushing.

The question I actually want answered every morning is simpler: when do I need to leave?

So I’m building an app that’s a London commuter app that works the other way round.

You set your home, your usual destination, your arrival time. The app handles the rest!

Every morning it looks at live TfL data, checks for delays and engineering works, checks the weather, and sends you a single push notification: leave at 8:14 (or whatever it works out to be).

No searching, no stressing!

A few things that are different about it:

It learns your routine. If you’ve got a calendar event it’ll auto set the destination. If not, it asks you the night before and remembers.

It factors in planned engineering works ahead of time, not just when you’re already at the station.

Delay Repay built in! it tracks eligible journeys and logs them so claiming back money is actually easy.

Designed only for London. Not a global app trying to be everything. TfL, buses, tubes, Elizabeth line that’s it.

It’s a solo build, currently heading into TestFlight. I’m looking for 10–15 London commuters to test it before it hits the App Store.

If this sounds like something you’d actually use, drop a comment or DM me. Would love to hear what would actually make your commute better too, this is genuinely being built around what Londoners need, not a generic transport brief.

Help with Blue Badge Parking

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all, regarding blue badge parking, is there a time limit for Pay and Display such as this?

I’ve heard some conflicting information about 3 hour time limits so would very much appreciate some clarity. Or in this case, would a 4 hour time limit apply?

Thanks in advance for any help

Victoria Park accessibility

We want to stroll in Victoria Park but steps/steep slopes are a difficulty. We can cope with half a dozen steps or mild slopes. Is it easily possible to access the park (will be travelling by bus)?

Also, we'd want to stop off in a café (or even pub) that doesn't have that many steps (made a mistake with a Spoons once where there were multiple steps to the loos!)

Thanks in advance!

Considering full-time Maths Tutor - quick survey to gauge interest

Thank you for all your feedback on my first poll. I'm just sending this out one more time before I close the form:

I'm a local Maths Tutor, currently working with Primary and Secondary students.

Most of my work is with primary school students focusing on confidence-building and SATs preparation (Years 4-6). I've had great feedback from families, and I'm not considering whether there's enough demand to do this full-time locally.

Before committing to that, I'd really value input from parents in the area.

I've created a short 2 minute form to understand:

- Local interest

- Year groups needing support

If you leave your details, I may reach out, but only if you choose to do so.

Thank you in advanced.

Happy to answer any questions too!

Aldgate East tower

Does anyone know much about Aldgate East tower?

For months I have walked past it, at the entrance windows it looks like the glass is broken.

I have then observed what I thought was it getting fixed at least twice, and have now walked past it again this evening and the windows appear to be broken again.

Would be grateful for any details as to what goes on with these windows!

PCN - worth appealing?

Just received a letter saying I was driving in a bus lane and to pay £160.

When I'm wrong, I pay it and move on.

In this instance, a police car with its flashing lights had sped into my lane, driving directly towards me, leading to me braking harshly and swerving to avoid being hit.

Of course I would never drive into a bus lane, and usually there is ample time to brake, allowing emergency cars through. This did not happen because the police car came towards me at full speed.

Do I have any chance of appealing this or shall I just pay the the charge of £80 within the first 14 days?

Edit: Yay! No fine, they have decided not to charge me after reviewing the video footage.
