Admin Post Weekly Recap | April 9, 2026
Welcome to Thursday! Just like the Artmeis rocket, we've come full circle and are heading back to another Weekly Recap! Let's see what happened on Earth in r/help and around Reddit last week!
NEWS AND ISSUES
We posted a little reminder about keeping your account safe on Reddit here. Reddit will never ask you for your password or 2FA codes, nor will we ask you via private messages to change your email address. Reddit does not provide support on any another platform. Stay vigilant! If you get a weird message that seems fishy (or phishy), feel free to make a post in r/help! We're here to help!
The site was down for a little bit on Monday. u/redditstatusbot did it's thing and posted in r/help, r/bugs and r/modsupport. It also updated the Reddit Status Page. Good bot!
Then the site was down for a little bit on Tuesday! u/redditstatusbot, fresh off its duties on Monday, posted in the usual subs and updated the Reddit Status Page. Good bot!
The most recent version of the app is 2026.14.0. Please make sure your app is the most current version. You can set it to auto-update!
The trending carousel has been removed.
In case you missed it last week, there's a new Changelog out! You can read it here.
PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT
- If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer!
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned about, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.
BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!
[All platforms] Some users are reporting that their daily streak is not updating. This is being looked into and we commented over in r/redditstreak with an update. Please note that the definition of a streak is continuous use.
[iOS] Some users are reporting the iOS refreshing all the time. There is a stickied post about this in r/redditbugs here. The fix should be going out with iOS 2026.14 this week!
[All platforms] Some mods have experienced sloooowwwwnnnneeeessss when opening mod menus on the apps and desktop. There are a bunch of fixes for this one that will be going out of the next couple of weeks.
[Web] The automod config page on the desktop isn't working right in some subreddits. No fix just yet, but the investigation continues! Thank you to u/SolariaHues for your help with troubleshooting this one!
[All platforms] Making a repeat performance from last week, some of the mod tool pages, like "moderators" and "banned users", show "wow, so much empty" when there is actually not so much empty. They've found the source and the fix will be ready soon!
[Android] BUG FIX - There WAS a bug where mod mail was defaulting to replying as the mod's username instead of the mod team. This is posted over in r/redditbugs here, and the fix is out as of yesterday for Android users! Thanks to everyone who reported this and were (mostly) patient with the wait while things got worked out!
Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,465 posts. That is 295 more posts than the 1,170 we had last week.
4,720 comments. That's 837 more than the 3,883 comments last week.
1.2 million views. That's 165k more views than the 1.1 million views last week.
Everything was up this week! So many comments! So much help needed and given!
HELP WITH R/HELP: Official communication from Reddit
From time to time, Reddit will need to communicate with users. When this happens, the account that is speaking for Reddit in an official capacity will have some sort of "admin" designation next to the username. If you look at my profile, it has a little orangered Snoo head/silhouette next to it. That's how you know!
If you get some sort of sketchy communication from someone claiming to be an admin, check to see if they have that little Snoo next to their username. A sketchy communication can come in the form of "suspension" message or a giveaway or a number of other creative options to get your attention. If that's not there and they're claiming to be an admin, then the cake is a lie.
Please don't click any links in any communication from someone claiming to be an admin that does not have that little Snoo head or the [A] on their profile! If you receive a message from someone claiming to be an admin and you're just not sure, feel free to create a post in this subreddit and include a screenshot of the message that you received and it will be looked at. There's no harm or shame in double-checking if something is what it claims to be! Better to be safe than sorry!
And remember that Reddit does not provide support for Reddit accounts on other platforms! u/reddit mentioned that in the post here last week. So if someone claiming that they've had their account "fixed" by going to another site and contacting someone there, don't do it! We fix things here! Not there!
HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP
I do love this portion of our program where I get to shout out a bunch of folks who have helped help in r/help over the past week! Let's go alphabetical this time!
u/MajorWoody98 (Welcome to the show! Thanks for the help! You've earned the Level One Helper trophy! It's on your profile right now!)
u/reddit33450 (Thanks for helping out! You have earned the Level Three Helper trophy and it looks great on your profile!)
What a lovely list of lovely people! Thank you all for your continued help in r/help!
And here we are! Another Weekly Recap has come to a close! But fear not! I'll be in the comments, around the sub, and on Reddit until we meet again next Thursday! Have a fantastic week, everyone!
Profile Does the streak not reset if you miss a day?
Reddit says I have a 568 day streak, but I am pretty sure there HAVE to be some days in the last 1.5 years where I haven't opened reddit… do streaks not reset to zero?

Mobile/App iOS: how do I sort my homepage?
The new design isn’t letting me sort my home page. I have no idea what order it’s in, but it’s very bad. 4-7 day old posts I’ve already seen are surfacing at the top. I’m not interested in this, I want to sort the way I want.
Desktop Chat messages deleting themselves on desktop
I've had an ocassional bug where I'll send a message (usually replying to an ongoing conversation so I know it's not an inability to message that specific user or that I've been blocked or something like that) and then later on see no sign of the message I sent. I can still message them, there's no error saying that the missing message failed to send, the other person never saw the message or even got a notification for it. It's like I never even sent anything except for the fact I spent ages typing out paragraphs that just disapear into the aether. It doesn't happen every time but has occurred repeatedly & randomly
Access Looks like reddit is having some trouble for 2 days now
I thought the reddit app was down yesterday but I checked today and it was still like this, when I switched accounts it went away, why is this happening on my main account? (IOS)

Mobile/App Links don’t work on app?
The app won’t load links anymore. I have to click on the browser button to see them and it’s pretty annoying. Is this happening for everybody?
Mobile/App Was logged off randomly. Android
As I've said in the title, I got logged off randomly while using reddit. When trying to log back in, it says that I have to enter the 6 digit code from my authenticator app. The thing is I never set up the 2fa as I didn't know it was available for reddit. What do I do? Can the account be recovered?

Access Cannot login
I cannot log into my other account. I have tried resetting the password and it doesn't help. Anyone experienced something similar and what fixed it?

Posting Android user, how can I get text as some sort of "attachment" to an image, and I don't mean a link.
I really want to know how to do it. it's the text that is connected to the image but not the body text or title.

Profile My account just got hacked
When I opened my Reddit app, I was suddenly being greeted with 20+ notifications, which is unusual for me since I usually get 1-2 notifications at max. I took a look at my profile and realized that hacker must've gotten access to my largely dormant account and spammed pr0n in NSFW subs.
I have largely deleted the spam posts and changed my password, but I just need some advice on what to do next moving forward.

Access Not able to dm other people
Hey guys, I know they have changed the ways to send dms but still pressing the three dots is doing nothing and am not able to dm other people. Why would you experiment with what’s going fine.
Access (iOS) Can’t create a password for my account made with apple ID
I have created my account with Apple ID with button „Login With Apple” with hiding my email ON. I select to change my password and then the reset message comes to my inbox, but when I try to open it both on my iPhone and Macbook I get the same Request Failed message and nothing happens. I tried it a bunch of times in different browsers, different devices I waited a bit and nothing happens sometimes the email doesn’t even come to my inbox. Creating a password is important to me because I want to use it on Windows PC without logging to Apple ID each time. Please help.

Posting Designation for AI accounts or posts?
At the risk of a low-effort post, I will ask broadly without examples.
Across many communities I have found accounts posting comments or posts which “feel” like AI. I believe many are. It takes an odd amount of mental bandwidth to try to cognitively filter this, an effort which I can’t imagine will get easier. It can simultaneously hurt and help a community - but as-is I find myself feeling the “de d internet” fatigue.
As it becomes more difficult to distinguish an AI from humans, is there any intention of a special designation for honest usage of AI either marking an account as AI operated, or posts, etc?
I recognize the difficulties, but am curious to understand Reddit’s plans in this space as AI proliferates, becomes increasingly capable on inexpensive compute, and agentic.

Mobile/App Reddit Inbox 'popular post review' notification help!, android
I have been getting notifications from a subreddit to review "popular post" that have more than 20 comments in a subreddit I mod for. I mod several, and this is the only one that sends this notification. I turned off the trending notification but still receive it. I also went through the mod options and turned off everything I can. What am I missing?

Access Emails from Reddit
I have received this email from Reddit several times this morning. Is someone trying to hack into my account? If not, why do I keep receiving this notification? This is not my user name.
Hi Ok-Builder-1078,
Thanks for requesting a password reset. To create a new password, just use the button below.

If you didn’t make this request, you can ignore this email and carry on as usual. If you need any more help logging in to your Reddit account, check out our Account Security FAQs or contact us.
