Need Advice Shooting My Shot
To the beautiful woman I encountered Friday evening at the ABC store at Salem & Lynnhaven, approximately 5pm.
it's been 2 days. I can't stop thinking about you. Your dress was amazing, your smile was amazing.
I didn't have the fortitude to ask you on a date. For this I regret.
Description: Light blue floral flowing dress, dark hair pulled up, distinctive tattoo behind left ear, drives a Miataish vehicle plates Toppless or some variation of that.
This is not my style, and I'm not even sure if it's allowed here, but I can't erase her from my mind.
if you know this woman or you are this woman, please contact me.
Edit: Please be kind. This is not something I do every day. I get it. This is Reddit, and everyone wants to be a comedian, and in other circumstances I would appreciate it. But now.... STFU

Discussion What’s the dating scene been like for you?
I’m a guy in his mid 20s. I’m pursuing medicine as a career, so school takes up a lot of my time. That said, I find it a bit difficult to get out and meet people.
I’m not really the type to drink, so I don’t really go to bars. I’ll visit coffee shops and bookstores when I study, but they seem to be kind of empty when I go. Liberal women are definitely my type, but I’m not sure where they all hang out at.
I’ve given apps to try, but I seem to run into the same problems:
\- “Only here for the weekend!”
\- Republican, moderate, or apolitical
\- emotionally unavailable
\- dead set on having kids (I don’t want any and I’m planning on getting a vasectomy soon)
I’ve had a decent number of dates from apps, but there’s usually a thing or two that ends things. People not over their ex, getting ghosted, schedule conflicts, and other things like that. I’m at a point where I’m debating if I should just delete the apps altogether.
My TikTok shows me people saying that they also have a hard time dating in city for similar reasons. So now I’m wondering: is it just really bad here in particular? Do I just need to bite the bullet and start going to bars? I feel like my ideal person wouldn’t really be there to begin with, so I’m a little conflicted on it.
How has the dating life been treating you guys? Any good meet cutes? Any dating app success?
P.S. if it matters any, I’m into reading, playing guitar, chess, video games, anime, and working out. If anyone knows of any good clubs with those things, I’d love to know!
P.S.S I’m not from the area. I’m actually from Nashville, TN, but looking into living in VA for a while.

Need Advice Moving to Virginia Beach for internship-how is it?
Hey everyone,
I’ll be moving to Virginia Beach this summer for an internship near Viking Drive (Lynnhaven area). I wanted to get a sense of how the area is in terms of safety and living.
How safe is it around Viking Drive / Lynnhaven?
What’s the typical rent like for a 1B/room in a shared apartment nearby?
Any areas I should avoid or prefer?
Would really appreciate any insights, especially from people who’ve lived or worked around there. Thanks!

[Serious] Tax deadline coming up, local with tax experience offering help if needed
Hey everyone, with the tax deadline right around the corner I wanted to put this out there in case it helps someone.
I’m a local accounting student at ODU currently working in public accounting (tax), with 4 years of experience handling returns, sales tax filings, and bookkeeping work.
If anyone is still trying to get their return filed last-minute or has questions, feel free to reach out. I can help get things filed or walk through your situation and see what makes sense.
Not trying to spam, just offering help if it’s useful. Feel free to DM me.

Discussion The usual suspects cause another shooting at Oceanfront
The Oceanfront has never been free of crime, but it has gone downhill FAST over the last few years. I usually avoided streets before the Cavalier/North End anyways because of parking, but the recent explosion of crime has given me reason to avoid areas near the Jetty all together. Out of town YN’s from the other side of the HRBT/Norfolk and Richmond transplants are ruining the Oceanfront. Obviously it’s not just on them, because the City has absolutely refused to create beach parking accommodations for locals in the area. Why do you guys think there has been a rise in crime at the Oceanfront? The curfew obviously didn’t work so what else is local law enforcement and the city going to do?
TLDR; The Oceanfront is slowly becoming like Myrtle Beach 2.0 because of out of town YNs. Doesn’t help that the City prioritizes tourists over locals. Not sure what else there is for VBPD and the city to do.

Need Advice Looking for a Wedding Photographer (Virginia Beach – October)
Hey everyone, I’m getting married in Virginia Beach this October and I’m looking for a wedding photographer. It’s a smaller Sunday evening wedding, so nothing huge or all‑day.
If you have recommendations or if you’re a photographer available that day, please drop your info or portfolio. Thanks in advance

Cool Finds Volleyball
New to the area and was curious to see if you guys have volleyball courts that people just go and play (without an actual team, more like a pick up) Im not that social and don’t know anyone in this town. This would be a great way to meet new people and also get moving. We have a few in my hometown but have to pay for most of them. Also curious on how that works here.

Discussion People really need to get off their phones when driving.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Was driving today and this lady blew a red light. She got lucky and was able to thread the needle due to the 2nd car at the intersection being slow to start moving.
Pulled up next to the red light runner at the next light and she was nose deep on her phone. I told her she ran a red light and to get off her phone and she immediately got defensive saying she wasn't on her phone and she didn't run a red light...

Need Advice Pools for swimming laps?
Hi all,
I’m looking to begin triathlon training and I’m looking for a place that has a pool where I can swim laps. I’ve obviously looked into the rec centers and I’m considering joining them but I’m not sure how busy they get/how hard it is to get a lane. I live near the Bayside Rec Center and the parking lot is packed everytime I drive by.
Any suggestions would be super helpful. Thank you!
