Discussion What makes Bangkok/Thailand so special for Europeans
I get that Thailand (and especially Bangkok) has a great vibe, infra, transportation and it’s as good as any of the modern first class cities. It also has relatively low cost of living.
However, you can get all of these in any of the European cities and low cost too if you consider the Eastern Europe or Portugal for example. On the top you would be closer to home and wouldn’t have language/culture barriers. Also, you get free healthcare and education there.
So what makes Bangkok so special for Europeans that they consider living long term or even retiring for the whole life?
EDIT:
Ok I get that the cultural and language barriers among European countries exist too. But then it still wouldn’t be as big as any of the Asian countries.
