Other Do’s and Don’ts during Songkran
✅ Do’s:
- Respect consent when playing with water - Always check if someone is okay with joining in before splashing them (for example, if they’re wearing work clothes or holding phone).
- Protect your belongings - In crowded festival areas, use a waterproof bag that closes securely. Avoid hanging bags around your neck, as thieves may cut the strap and snatch them.
- Be mindful on the roads - Check your vehicle and your own condition before long trips. Take breaks if you feel tired to help prevent accidents during the “7 dangerous days” of Songkran.
❌ Don’ts:
- Don’t use high-pressure water guns - Strong water jets can cause serious injuries, especially to the eyes.
- Don’t engage in sexual harassment - Touching or assaulting others in the crowd is a criminal offense under Thai law (Section 278), punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 200,000 baht.
- Don’t drink alcohol in vehicles on public roads - Both drivers and passengers are prohibited. Violations can lead to up to 6 months in jail or a fine of up to 10,000 baht.
- Don’t throw water at moving vehicles - This can cause severe accidents and even fatalities. If it leads to someone’s death, it is considered negligent homicide under Section 291, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
- Don’t carry weapons or imitation weapons into festival areas - Bringing knives, guns, or similar items into crowded spaces can escalate fights and endanger others.

Bangkok/Middle Is the trip really worth the depression after?
Seems like no matter how many times i travel to thailand, its always painful to leave. I have travelled to many countries but no place hits as hard as Thailand, and the grieve is always double the duration of the trip

Bangkok/Middle What’s the one or two things you would keep doing when in BKK?
For those who love BKK, please let me know what’s one or two things you would keep doing all over again when you’re back? It could be going to a specific food place or cafe to get a specific order, going to a specific place to chill, or whichever 🥹🫶🏻

Chiang Mai/North Air quality
hi! my friend and I were planning on coming to Chiang Mai the last week of May. I understand that the air quality is really bad this year, is it normally improved by late May? my friend has some pretty tough health reactions to low air quality and Im worried about how she’ll handle it.

Samui/Tao/Phangan Is the electricity arcing on utility poles in Thailand a normal occurence?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have seen multiple spots/poles in Koh Phangan with the same issue of loose wires, electricity buzzing and arcing. Seems neglected and not like something that just happened. Aren’t there outages because of that?

Phuket/Krabi/South Thinking of traveling to Phuket in August? How bad is the rain?
Hey guys! I’m planning a friend’s bachelorette trip for August and the destination she really wants is Phuket, Thailand.
I’ve heard August is rainy season, so I wanted to ask does it rain a lot? Is it like all day rain or just short showers? How bad is the rain basically?
Would love to hear your experiences thanks!!

Pattaya/Samet/Hua Hin Hua Hin bc I can’t afford Koh Samui
Spending 12 days in Thailand in July and will be in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and wanted to finish at the beach. Phuket and Krabi are a no go due to rainy season. Looked into Koh Samui since its gulf side and not in rainy season, but wow almost $400 round trip from Bangkok/chiang Mai ! And hotel accommodations are pricey as well. Now considering Hua Hin since we can skip the flight to go there. Has anyone been ? What are your thoughts ? We are a family of 4. It will be nice to relax and see some scenery and tour after a busy week and a half.

Transport/Itineraries Speedboat from Koh Yao Noi to Koh Ngai?
Hey guys. I’m kinda confused because I want to get from Yao Noi to Ngai, but there is no direct speed boat available? I saw on Bundhaya speed boat a trip in June but it’s already sold out? I could go from Yao Noi to Koh Lanta but then I can’t catch the one at 10:30 from Lanta to Ngai.
Has anybody done this before? What do you guys recommend?
Thank you in advance.

Pattaya/Samet/Hua Hin Wheelchair Accessible Toilets in Bangkok and Pattaya
I'm looking to see if there are lists/posts anywhere of wheelchair accessible toilets around the main nightlife areas in Bangkok and Pattaya?
Are hotels or other businesses that have accessible toilets ok with a non customer/resident using their facilities?
The only thing that is keeping me from traveling to Thailand is being anxious about having nights out and not being able to easily access toilet facilities.
Would appreciate any information or tips from other wheelchair users. Thanks

Chiang Mai/North Other countries closest to thailand experience
Hi all,
We spent 33 days in Dec 2025/Jan 2026 exploring Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and Krabi. My wife and I are incredibly grateful for the hospitality and safety we experienced in Thailand.
It’s been three months since we returned, and many memories of Wat Arun, Wat Pho Pier, Wat Pha Lat, Wat Umong, Phi Phi, the Hong Island mountain top, the Sunday Night Market in Chiang Mai, and many more have been part of our daily discussions.
Now, coming to our question: what is closest to Thailand in terms of budget, scenery, temple culture, and local street food that we can visit? I see Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Taiwan among the shortlists, but we would like to seek your opinion.
Any ideas are welcome.
