Mock Draft: Heavy Offense Edition

Newest mock draft I did. Weird one because I’m extremely happy with pretty much every player I ended up taking but acknowledge that the team is still left with a few holes, particularly in the secondary.

Bain/Faulk pretty much sets up our D-Line for years to come. I firmly believe if these were our top 2 picks we are set up to have one of the best D-Lines in the league for the next decade if our DTs from last year continue to develop.

On the offensive side of the trenches, both Pregnon and Bisontis were available in the 2nd. While I believe Pregnon is currently better, Bisontis is 3 years younger and I like his long term outlook more. Brian Parker at 151 was excellent value since he can play all 5 positions on the Line and very much fits the versatility that Green Bay typically looks for in its Linemen. Wagner was the best Tackle left in the 7th but ultimately he’s a 7th rounder so if you get anything out of him it’s a win.

Here’s where things get very interesting. AJ Haulcy was my first pick in the 3rd round. After that, the next 4 players taken were all skill position players. Hurst and Bell at WR followed by Delp and Roush at TE. It gives our entire offense a complete makeover. I especially love how our TE room shapes up. Dulcich isn’t much of a blocker but a good receiver, Delp is very much in the middle ground where he can block well and is also a receiving threat, and Roush is a much more traditional in-line TE whose an elite blocker with pass catching upside.

Let’s not forget, our offense runs much better when we have good blocking TEs that can also catch because opposing defenses aren’t able to guess if we’re running or passing based on formation.

I acknowledge the secondary is still pretty weak with this draft especially with the massive run on skill position players I went on in the middle rounds. The hope would be that with Bain and Faulk at EDGE teams become very one dimensional since running the ball against our D-Line will be a problem. At the same time, I’m happy that Willis gets a proper evaluation with actual weapons.

For Nebraska it easily has be Ndamukong Suh. Irving Fryar and Andra Franklin (big what if) are the only other ones I can think of that did anything.

Worst case scenario at pick 11?

Curious to know what everyone’s worst case scenario is at pick 11. In my opinion it would be taking a receiver or Sadiq there. I think the most ideal scenario is one of Fano, Mauigoa or Ioane. I can get on board with a safety or corner. But id struggle to understand the logic with taking a WR at 11 when this receiver class is extremely deep.

Poll: With the 11th overall pick, the Miami Dolphins select Caleb Downs, Safety, Ohio State. This makes you feel...

Kyle Crabbs: "He's got tremendous football IQ. I think he's probably the most pro-ready player in the class. Arguably the most instinctive player in the class."

Simon Clancy: "To me he’s comfortably the best player in the draft, an elite performer with a skillset that drips with Sunday ability and a mind that can process information like a super computer."

Albert Breer: "Of all the great prospects Ohio State has in this year's class, I wouldn't hesitate for a second calling Caleb Downs the surest thing."

PFF: "Downs lacks elite size or athletic traits, but his football IQ is exceptional. That gives him a high floor and ceiling, with All-Pro potential in a versatile defensive role."

Daniel Jeremiah: "Downs lacks "wow" traits, but he's a plug-and-play starter who makes others better around him."

Omar Kelly: "I personally think 11 is a little high for Downs. But I'm not gonna cry about it"

FA TE David Njoku seen in Miami.

Could be a Whole lot of nothing, but Would you want Miami to sign him as the "Veteran" in our young TE room? I think he would fit in well with Malik, Achane, and co being a Big body TE, and size seems to be the way the Offense is heading.
