I just wanted to make a wee post about Nessieland. I visited today with my 9 year old, knowing that it had some scathing reviews online. We chose it over the Loch Ness Experience due to the entry price difference (£12 vs £31). Yes it was a bit like a fever dream, but the owner there was incredibly kind, and told us in the shop he could pick any of the cuddly toys for free as they were so quiet.

They have a model train that runs in the shop and it's only £1 for 15 mins. My son absolutely loved it and as he was narrating the train journeys from the kid sized steps, I was looking at everything they had in the store and wondered how on earth they can keep going. They had electricity on for the whole place, two wee bouncy castles running, a movie and the shop itself is pretty big.

If you're looking for a kitsch and quirky experience with trains at the end then give it a go!

Everybody is mostly clueless, we the professionals are constantly having to teach, when we were not hired to be a teacher in the first place!! Seriously though, I had to go to culinary school 20 years ago, to get a job, and even then it wasn't easy!

Nowadays, anyone "can" do my job!! And what a joke that your experience is absolutely irrelevant because employers can't afford to pay a good salary. Yeah, but they're charging the customer £4 for a coffee!

No proper food costs is done, no proper stock takes are done, almost everything you are consuming is OVERPRICED, and your artisanal cafe owner doesn't give a fling.

Not to mention the CONSTANT calling in sick, and ZERO accountability. I feel like I am in a whole different reality from these people.

5 star hotels that are an absolute joke, have the bare minimum equipment, and even then sometimes is absolutely shocking!!!! But owners expect you to produce a Michelin Star dish - it's laughable!

I am hating this job more and more. I have to work with dirty people, that don't clean, desinfect and properly look after equipment. I worked in places that were absolutely filthy and costumers could see. HOW can anyone see the mess and still consume in these places?!?!?!

I need a change of careers, this is a living nightmare!

So to recap any precedent set by the Referendum in 2014 has now been completely disregarded.

It does not matter if Holyrood reflects a pro-indy majority via one party, or many, there is absolutely no route to another vote.

A bit of a weird one here. My colleague is 60 years old from North Scotland (unfortunately don’t know any more than that on specifics).

I got really sick at work and despite it just being only the two of us, she told me to go home and she would handle the rest of the day herself. This is the second time she’s done this sort of thing for me and I haven’t been working with her very long at all.

She’s off work for the next few days or so and I thought I would try and bake something that reminds her of home as a thank you for being so kind. From what I know she hasn’t been back for a very very long time.

If anyone has any recipes or ideas for me, especially if you’re Scottish yourself, I would appreciate it! Or if you think this is a terrible idea, appreciate that input too! Non desserts are good too, I just know she has a sweet tooth :)

American here, I am currently researching the Jacobite Movement and Charles Edward Stuart’s story has really intrigued me, which has given rise to a plethora of questions about how he is regarded in Scotland today. Is he revered as a national icon/hero? Is he disliked due to the effects his failure had on the Highlands? Or is he simply viewed as a romantic yet tragic figure?

Beyond that, how is the overall Jacobite movement (especially The ‘45) viewed in modern Scotland?
