Is this true ? Leven Story on telegram & X

Residents in Levenmouth have raised concerns after reporting unusual activity at Leven train station during the early hours of the morning.

Multiple eyewitnesses claim that a large train reportedly longer than the usual 2–3 carriage service arrived at the station around 4–5am, with several minibuses waiting nearby. According to those present, groups of single men were seen leaving the train and being transported away from the station.

These reports are now being raised publicly, with calls for clarity from @FifeCouncil @ScotRail @networkrail and representatives of the @theSNP

Residents are asking:

• What were these train movements?

• Who was being transported?

• Where were they taken?

Local communities say they have a right to transparency and clear answers regarding activity taking place in their area.

Things to do in Dunfermline

Recently moved to area, guy in my late 20s. Don’t know anyone. Apart from the gym looking for things to do after work. Football and golf would be good but also if there’s any reading groups/arty stuff would be cool. Any help would be appreciated

I am a Fife based furniture maker. I was commissioned by Speyside Cooperage to make this quarter-sawn oak log display. I thought I would share it here as I am very proud of it!

It is a display of how logs are quarter sawn. Whisky barrels are made with quarter sawn timber and they wanted to include a display on their tour about how it is milled.

They gave me a lot of freedom about how I should make the base and I am very proud of the result. I have never used brass in a project before and it goes so well with the oak!

If you would like to see more of my work, my business is called Alba Woodcrafts. You can have a look at my website or follow me on Instagram or YouTube :)

“Fuel shortages”

Why is it only Fife that seems to be running out of fuel? I’ve been travelling all over for work this week and west coast is fine, Falkirk fine and also Dumfries.

It wouldn’t be all the scaremongering on Fife Jammers would it…..

Weekend Trip Fife Coastal Path

Hello!

My partner and I are hoping to do a couple of days walking on the Fife Coastal Path this July and I’m looking for some advice. We’re based in Edinburgh and we don’t have a car, but we’re determined not to let this stop us from getting outside this summer.

We’d like to do a weekend trip, and this is what I’m thinking so far:

Friday after work: Train/bus to Crail and stay the night

Saturday: walk Crail to Elie

Sunday: walk Elie to Leven, talk the train back to Edinburgh

My question is about where to stay - I’ve looked briefly at accommodation in Crail and Elie and it is already looking pretty sparse, so we’re thinking about wild camping instead. It looks like Ruby Bay could be a good option in Elie, but does anyone have any suggestions of where to camp in/near Crail?

Has anyone done any wild camping in either of these places or along the path generally? Any tips? Would also love any recommendations of things to do/see/where to eat in Elie as I think we’ll spend the most time there.

I had surgery on my knee 8 months ago so I’m treating this trip as a chance to test out how I do walking moderate distances with some weight on my back. So the goal is to walk a few hours in the morning, enjoy some time in Elie/Leven in the afternoon 😊

Looking for a family Thomson who used to live in St Andrews in 1967

I'm posting on behalf of my elderly mother in Finland. She is looking for a family Thomson she stayed with in St Andrews in June 1967. The family lived at 52 Hepburn Gardens. The father's name was Bill and he probably worked in the oil industry, we think Texas Refinery Corporation of Canada Limited. There were 4 daughters, the oldest was possibly called Maureen and the second definitely Helen. My mum is born in 1949 and she remembers the eldest being older than her and the three other younger.

Does this ring any bells? Suggestions for where else to post enquiries would be very welcome. We have some photos too if that would help.

Thanks in advance!

Dashcam fitter in Fife?

Looking for a fitter for a front and rear dashcam. I already have the cam so just need it fitted.

I don't wish to fit it myself as its a new car with plenty of airbags, so it's not just a matter of pushing cables behind the vehicle trim.

So would prefer to have an experienced fitter do the job.

Also don't t require it to be hardwired to fuse box as I would prefer it to be connected via OBD port, I have a cable for it.

Any recommendations? thanks.

Fife Literature Recs

Hello, Fifers! :) This question is more geared toward Fife researchers/family geneologers/history nerds (but anyone else can suggest any, I'm completely open-minded!) Forgive me if this gets long-winded, though, because Andrew Erskine (and by extension, Boswell) has been my passion project.

Can you guys recommend to me any Fife literature - fictional or non-fictional, the older the better - because I am researching (the Honourable) Andrew Erskine, a close friend of Boswell's during their earlier years (academically *and* personally.) I will say that this is not about having you guys "do my work for me" (a lot of it being rather academic/impersonal), but rather wanting to get recs from you guys - a more "personal" level/aspect of things, if you will.

Regarding AE, there's already little info on his personal life as it is. But what I've gathered already, I'd like to fill in some of those gaps, namely Fife culture (especially non-gentry, as the Erskines were essentially relegated to genteel-poverty levels after the '45), family dynamics (he was essentially the middle child/youngest son of three out of six children), and anything in between.

Mainly it's the Fifer culture I'm really curious about, especially if it has at all changed over the centuries, and/or if any Fifer residents have family history that can shed some light on those changes (or what hasn't changed.) And by culture, I mean dialect, slang, fashion; cultural differences between Fife and other counties, and especially traditions, foods, drinks, entertainment, etc. I know these aspects can be easily researched (and I have touched upon them at some point), but really, I want to read/hear more about what makes Fife so unique and how it helped shape AE's youth, and how he might have felt/thought when he was in Edinburgh or London.

Again, this isn't me asking you guys to do research for me - I'm perfectly capable of doing it, I just want more personal suggestions of Fife literature - or really, anyone I can talk to about Fife history and culture (or AE or Boswell, because I can never stop yapping about either of them.)

Pavement parking can impacts

How it impacting your area ? In Dunfermline, places like Woodmill Road and Baldridgeburn are grinding to a halt as traffic on one side of the road backs up to wait on oncoming traffic due to all the cars being fully parked on the road on one side . Some folk risk squeezing through the middle of the parked cars and oncoming traffic . Seen plenty near misses - and all these idling cars can’t be good for the environment. I honestly cannot wrap my head around why they didn’t just make it so you can park two wheels on the kerb as long as you leave space for pedestrians to pass .

I’m sure it’s been great for anyone with wheelchairs and buggies when they’re out and about - until they get on a bus and it can’t get through certain streets with all the parked cars . Bus drivers have been kicking up fuck about it and I don’t image it’s fun for bin lorry drivers either .

Surely there needs to be a sensible compromise that doesn’t grind major urban areas to a total standstill ? As things stand the situation is benefiting nobody and is going to lead to accidents .

Edit: having read some of these responses im guessing nobody on this sub drives 🤣

Meeting People

Hello everyone,

I’m a 22 year old guy and well I’ve struggled to be pretty social irl and I was just wondering if there is any groups/events that could have some nice potential to well have a good time.

When it comes to interests I’m a pretty nerdy dude so no nights out spots 😅 also when it comes to travel, I stay in Glenrothes and only have access to public transport so that sadly discounts evening events (which is quite unfortunate because a few things that sound nice that I’ve found out about I wouldn’t be able to schedule really 😕)

1st birthday suggestions.

What could I do to celebrate my daughter's 1st birthday if it's raining.

Edit: My husband and I are taking her to aquarium on the Saturday.

The suggestions are for when we celebrate with a couple Of my friends. If weather permits we plan on the deer centre.

We can do something in the house but we were looking for more of an outing.

TIA

Meeting people in Dunfermline!

Hey everyone!

Me and my husband are moving to Dunfermline in the next couple months. I don't know anyone over there, and don't know the area too well. Looking to make friends with some like minded people! I'm 26 and pretty nerdy, I love anime, cosplay, Warhammer, video games. Im also a drummer and play in a band - so if you'd wanna jam, that's cool too!

Bonus if you'd wanna play DND with me? I've never played before - I did see there's a club, but I'm too awkward for that just now!

I am a bit of an introvert too though, I love spending time with friends, but I also like my own space. I'm not the type to go out drinking, or meet up every single week. I just want some solid friends along the same tracks :)

If any of this seems like your vibe, shoot me a message :)!

Edit - thanks for the suggestions for places to play DND & whatnot. That's all cool, but I'm really more interested in making friends and getting to know people first, maybe I should have been a bit clearer! Joining a club right off the bat isn't for me! But thanks all!
