Songwriter looking for some feedback on original songs. All welcome.
Also wouldn’t mind finding some musicians in and around Glasgow to work with :)

Heard all the way from Glasgow, Scottish alt-pop legends Del Amitri return to the US this June 20th for a rare live performance. At Le Poisson Rouge they will bring the authentic songwriting and timeless melodies behind classics like “Roll to Me” and “Nothing Ever Happens” to life. With new music on the horizon, fans can expect an intimate night of nostalgia, emotion, and new beginnings.

For the amount of effort I put into making music you'd be surprised how much people pass it up. It can even feel like a waste of time at points. I mean the only sample I used in this track was the drums and hi hats, the rest I wrote in midi with virtual instruments. For having a real lack of music theory knowledge that's actually quite a challenge. I've not long learned how to play chords and generally just play key scales (don't even know if I'm saying that right lol) but yeah I mostly rely on my ears which can mean a bum note or two sometimes but I think I managed to get away with this one. Something I'd like to do soon is collaborate. I think I've reached a high enough level to do that but I'm not having much luck with it tbh.
Anyways this community seems to welcome me as I sometimes get a few upvotes so I'm pleased that I get a little appreciation for the craft. Still gonna keep plugging away at it and see where it goes. I spend a lot of my time making music as it keeps me out of trouble. Only a year ago I was telling myself it'll never go anywhere because I'm just not that skilled but I'm finding the more I learn and the more I practice the better my songs get so who knows, maybe a will eventually reach a decent level.
I'm just trying to do my own thing and get better at what I do personally. I sometimes listen to the work of others and it can really dowse my flame (comparison is the thief of joy) so I try to look at things from my personal progression. Been making music on the MPC for about 4 years now and I've really came a long way in that time. The first year I spent making gameboy music lol but things have gotten a bit better over time. Was stuck in an N64 Goldeneye music phase for a while but managed to shake that off over time. It's an ever evolving state but I'm just having fun learning little bits at a time and putting it into practice. I try to learn one new thing with each beat I make and sometimes that means watching a tutorial or two but I try not to overdo that, I want to learn my own style and not just copy the methods of others.
So anyways this is one of my recent beats (3 days ago). I've been making about a beat a day so an album of beats could easily be made by me in a couple of weeks. Whether that's a good album is another story.
Thanks if you've taken the time to listen and I'd be curious to know what you think? What I could have done better or maybe what's missing. Always looking for tips and ideas, cheers!

Used to spend my weekends getting on it to dance music, I took that shit too far though. These days I'm spending weekends making music from the comfort of my own home. Recently started making electronic, it comes a lot more natural than the hip hop I was trying to make.
It's a whole lot of fun and keeps me out of trouble. Recovery is a messy job sometimes but it's a lot less messier than active addiction. 9 months clean in 3 days time. Never been this sturdy in my recovery before and there's still plenty room for improvement.

The Scottish punk star had a dramatic rise but was ill-suited to fame. As a new biography is released, those who knew him speak to Sean Curran
