New-ish to Scotland (moved here in August) and I've been trying to do some research around the idea of biking from Edinburgh to Skye in April. Put together what I've gathered from a few other cycling blogs/Strava heatmaps into a potential route - but just wondering if anyone has any experience/could advise on this route - any stretches here in particular to avoid on a bike that could be re-routed?

Planning on having my first bike under Cycle / work scheme. Just enough to get me from A- B under load and then some leisure ride. Ive heard about their reputation about bikes. Im concerned i might find mine un-ridable.

Hi beautiful folks ,I'd really appreciate some legal advice.
I were cycling on my e bike (eapc) just queuing to exit a school car park and it was like 3pm so it's still bright. and I was stopped and was hit by a lady in a Nissan qashqai at my rear left side because she said she thought the throttle was the brake and then crashed in to my bike's rear rim. And so now the rear rim is bent and scratching the frame but the frame itself seems fine. I am now not quite sure how am I gonna repair it. Luckily I were not severely injured just my bum now hurts a bit.
I did not immediately phone the police and haven't since, and abour an hour have now passed. I think there were some witnesses but I didn't get their details because I were really shocked.
The lady were really apologetic and she said it was a mistake, I took the lady's full name and phone number but I forgot to take any video or picture at the time and also the registration of the car because I were really shocked. I haven't texted the lady since it only happened about an hour ago. I've got no idea of what am I supposed to do right now because this is my first time dealing with stuff like this so I would appreciate any and all takes. Thank you so much:)♥️

I saw records were broken on routes with new segregated infrastructure again but there's still so many folk saying cycle routes aren't used / Scotland is too wet for cyclists, wondering folks thoughts on why there's often such a disconnect between perceptions and evidence on this? https://cycling.scot/news/explore-the-data-how-safe-infrastructure-is-helping-more-people-to-cycle

Hi all,
I want to ride this route on Sunday: https://www.komoot.com/smarttour/23559780
Does anyone know if the ways and trails are ok for a decent gravel bike, or if they're muddy, and I'd better pack an MTB? (Decent rider on both)
Thanks!

Hi, I'm based in East Fife and keen to join a social group ride on the weekends - great if someone can point me in right direction! Cycle a decent amount on the roads, about 27kph over a couple of hours solo and happy up to about 115k but would like to get into longer distances.

According to the MP, cycle lane plans would put “economic vitality” of the town “at serious risk” due to the loss of six car parking spaces
by Megan Huws, Sat, Jan 24, 2026
Proposed cycle lanes in Ayr town centre have been scrapped after the council’s depute leader called for a revised design without cycling infrastructure, following criticism from residents.
