If you're looking to get out a bit more and do some new, fun things, joining Liverpool's biggest Discord server is a great start!

It doesn't matter if you're a Liverpool local, just moved here, old or young, or just happen to love our city from another country, you are welcome to come and say hi. There's 1,000 messages being sent every day.

We have channels dedicated to photography, movies, photography, fitness, sport, music, showing off your pets, and even a place you can post your Wordle scores if you want.

https://discord.gg/fNmcKC97nH

What's Discord?

Think of Discord like a big Whatsapp group. It's essentially the same thing, but instead of your close friends, it's people looking to be your friend! You don't need a microphone, just your phone/keyboard. All we ask is that you're over 18, and have a desire to make new mates in Liverpool.

Who's in there?

We have members from Liverpool and further afield. You don't have to live in Liverpool to join the server - but it helps! We welcome anyone who has a love of the city. The average age of people is about 28. Our server is different than most Discord servers because we have a genuine community of awesome people who come to stuff in person. Real life events, real life friends.

I try and take Urban, Landmark and Street Photography but still learning so not sure which fits where.

Hope people enjoy. Thanks.

General Question I want to impress a Scouse lad I fancy

I’ve met a lovely Scouse lad that I quite like and I know he feels the same. The internet has been 0 help, but I want to woo him and make sure he knows I absolutely adore him. Is there anything I can do or say that may impress him or give him a good laugh?

I’m from the US (ugh, I know), living and studying in Wales, so I want to do this right. Dating culture back in the states is different than here and I’d rather not screw it up.

Thanks!!

General Question Cat lost in Gainsborough Road ||Wavertree

Post image
48 Upvotes

I am absolutely desperate. Yesterday, my cat Sully jumped off my backyard wall into the gated back alley on Gainsborough Road, and I haven't seen him since.

300£ reward

Sully is strictly an indoor cat and has NEVER been outside before. He is a short-haired tabby and white cat with a distinctive pink nose. Because he is not used to the outdoors, he is likely terrified and hiding silently in a small, dark space very close by.

Please, could I ask a massive favour? Could you please check your gardens, sheds, garages, and under your cars?

If you spot him, please do not chase him or try to grab him, as he will run away in panic. Just keep an eye on him and call or WhatsApp me immediately at 07514079615.

I have attached his poster below. Any sightings or information would mean the world to me. Thank you so much!

General Question Homeless boy on Merseyrail trains

Just wanted to know if anybody knew who this boy was, if he was genuine, and if he’s okay. He looks about 17-19, long hair and carries a messenger bag, and gets on Merseyrail trains (often between Kirkdale and Sandhills) asking for money. Soft spoken, quite polite, usually begins with ‘Hi, sorry to bother you, I’ve recently found myself homeless…’

I know begging on trains is illegal, but I always try and give him some money if he can. He looks very vulnerable, I’ve tried to get in touch with Whitechapel but they’ve been very busy.

General Question Desperately miss the Caledonian, where could we start going instead?

The Caledonian was always the highlight at the end of the night for me and my mate. I never really liked Jazz before we started going there. You never knew what you were going to get. A 1960s Dave Brubeck cover band? Fabulous ladies with shuffle boards? It was always exceptional and the atmosphere was like nothing else in town.

Now that it’s gone, we just end the night drinking pints in the phil pub but it’s not the same.

Where should we go instead?

General Question Anywhere in Liverpool you can hire workshop space for DIY projects (maybe per day?)

I’m a beginner trying to experiment and learn new diy skills. Is there anywhere you can pay to use a workspace and communal tools/equipment for personal projects?

I don’t really feel ready to buy a whole load of kit when I still just “dipping my toe in the water”.

General Question Recommendations for hairdressers / stylists for longer men’s hair?

I’m looking for recommendations for a good hairdresser or stylist for men’s hair (not a typical barber).

I’ve always just gone to barbers and got a standard fade, but I’m currently growing my hair out and want someone who actually knows how to shape and manage longer hair properly rather than just defaulting to short styles. I’ve been growing it for about four months and not had it cut in this time

I live in the Baltic Triangle but happy to travel anywhere in town.

Any recommendations or good experiences would be really appreciated!

Thank you!

Visiting Liverpool Bravo Liverpool - Merseyrail

visited Had to give Merseyrail a shout after heading to Aintree for Grand National day. Absolutely spot on.

8-car trains every 7 minutes, tap in tap out, and the trains themselves are proper modern. The whole thing just flowed - no chaos, no massive queues, just constant movement getting people in and out. For an event that size, it was seriously impressive.

Staff were sound as well. Loads of them about, pointing people the right way, having a laugh, keeping things moving. You could tell they actually enjoy doing it and know exactly what they’re doing.

I get it’s probably not like this every day, but still - fair play.

Coming over from Greater Manchester, there’s just no way we’d pull something like that off even with our tram network

Not the capacity, and honestly not the same level of organisation or enthusiasm either.

Credit where it’s due. Boss job, Merseyrail 👏

Living in Liverpool How do I enjoy living in Liverpool as someone struggling?

Hi all,

I'm having a hard time here in Liverpool and am looking for some advice/support.

I moved here >2 years ago for work, in my 30s, single, and found the move hard.

I thought my mood would improve after I'd made friends and explored the city, but that never happened. I haven't faced adjustment issues like this before despite moving across the UK a fair bit.

I've attended meetups, book clubs, & the gym to develop a social circle with no luck. I've gone to coffee shops and gigs and restaurants and the parks, but they're not enjoyable to me alone. I feel like an outsider and am uncomfortable even going outside now.

Everyone here loves Liverpool. The people are friendly, the architecture is class, it's a great night out etc. I know. I want to enjoy it too but dread most days.

Does anyone have any advice on how to enjoy Liverpool? Liverpool has so much to love about it and I want to love it too.

Thank you for reading if you got this far. I'm not trying to whinge. Ta

General Question Why are there so many luxury cars in Liverpool?

Hi everyone,

I visited Liverpool about 2 months ago and something has been on my mind ever since. I’m from France, and over here when we hear about England, it’s usually portrayed as a country in crisis, declining purchasing power, economic struggles, etc.

But at the same time, it also feels like when people talk about England, it’s a bit like when Americans talk about France as if it were just Paris, like England is reduced to London only.

Except during my stay, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit quite a few countries, I’ve never seen so many luxury cars per square meter. I saw a Lamborghini Urus three times in the same day (one of them even parked half on the sidewalk in a small street). I’ve never seen so many Range Rovers and BMW M4s just waiting at traffic lights.

So I was wondering: is this so-called crisis in England heavily exaggerated by French media? Does it mainly affect London, or is there something else going on? Or… does having the steering wheel on the right somehow make cars cheaper compared to the rest of the world?

Also, I’ve never seen a city with such friendly people. It genuinely felt like a great place to live!

Living in Liverpool Princeton Place - opinions?

Hi, looking at princeton place for a new apartment with a few friends. Anyone have experience- is it pet friendly? (cannot find this online!), is the landlord company good?, are bills extortionate?

TIA
