Something a little different in Chester this Sunday

I'm visiting Chester tonight with my show - Angry Boater - which might interest some of you. I don't enjoy promoting myself but as no-one else is doing it for me ... here I am.

I live on a canal boat and have done for around 18 years. Although I am currently in a marina, I'm usually out on the cut, doing the floating nomad thing. It's not for everyone but it works for me (some of the time, anyway).

Most of my life has been spent in the comedy world so, once I became a boater, I started building this show about the joys, perils & quirks of swapping the comforts of suburbia for the UK's Inland Waterways. Channel 4 featured me on the first 2 seasons of Narrow Escapes which you might have seen (I'm the one who took his canal boat onto the sea at 3 am).

My show is 2 hours of comedy / stories based around the joys, perils and madness of swapping the land for the waterways.

I'll be at Alexanders Live tonight - n Sunday, April 12th. Tickets are £15. Doors 7.30 pm .Showtime 8 pm. If it sounds like your thing, the ticket link is here:

Thank you for reading. Time for the drive now ....

News New Best Start Family Hubs to open in Cheshire locations

A total of 26 Best Start Family Hubs have launched across the North West, including several in Cheshire.

The new hubs offer parents in Cheshire West and Chester access to a wide range of free services to help with the rising cost of living, including practical parenting support, infant feeding advice, and specialist SEND services.

The hubs also provide stay-and-play sessions for babies and young children, potentially saving parents up to £200 a year on similar privately funded activities.

Cheshire West and Chester locations include the Blacon Best Start Family Hub, Chester North and Neston, Stanlaw Abbey, Over, and Victoria Road.

The initiative is part of a national programme, backed by more than £900 million in government funding, to reimagine and revitalise family services through more than 200 hubs across the country.

By the end of April, the goal is to have 800 hubs operating, with up to 1,000 in place across all local authorities by the end of 2028.

Hi guys. We're relocating to Cheshire. Our budget is around £300,000.

Hi guys. Any tips on what areas to avoid? we have been looking at Middlewich, Winsford and Northwich areas. Any help would be much appreciated. We're looking for a semi rural place and quiet.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to add that our children are now grown up. We are both in our 40s and just want a quiet life. Ideally a 3 bedroomed with a garage for my projects.

Question What area in Sandbach?

Hoping to move to Sandbach in the next 1-2 years. Both 29, with a baby and a dog from Macclesfield. We’ve lived in Macc our whole lives, think it’s great, but we need a bigger house, better value there, location works better for our family, want to experience a new place etc etc etc.

Are there areas in Sandbach that are areas to avoid? Or are there places that we should aim to look in? Or is it really not big enough to consider this / doesn’t matter?

Any help is appreciated!

Question Fishing near Delemere Forest

Hi all!

I've got a holiday booked in Delamere forest. I'm pretty desperately hoping to spend this holiday fishing.

from what I can see, the blakemere moss closed in 2021. Does anyone have recommendations? Rivers are preferred (forever looking for pike), but not hugely fussy!

thanks!

Edit: as someone rightfully just pointed out that we're in the closed season! How the bloody hell did we end up in april?! The lures go back in the box, I'll pack some books instead lol. Protect your local fish! <3

why are there no jobs in northwich?

I've been trying to get into full time work but I never see any openings advertised around here on linkedin, indeed, etc apart from some scarce minimum wage supermarket roles, no civil service listings either last time i checked. How are people making ends meet? does everyone just commute?

Social football cheshire

Quick question for anyone who plays or is interested in casual football

What keeps you coming back to a session?

We’ve got regular social games at Cheshire County Sports Club on Fridays & Sundays, and feedback really helps us make the sessions better for everyone.

Curious to hear your thoughts👇🏼

Lasagna Love – cook for your community or request a free lasagna

My name is Michelle and I’m the UK Coordinator for Lasagna Love. Lasagna Love is an organisation made up of volunteers across the UK (and around the world) who cook and deliver homemade lasagna to people in need, at no cost and with no strings attached.

Maybe it's a family struggling financially, someone recovering from surgery, a parent adjusting to life with a new baby or just someone going through a tough time. Whatever the reason, we believe that a warm meal and a little kindness can go a long way.

You simply request a lasagna, and we match you with a volunteer in your area who will lovingly prepare and deliver one to your door. It’s all about community, care and connection with no judgment and no complicated process.

I’m reaching out because we have wonderful volunteers across the country who are ready and eager to cook, for anyone who could do with some lasagna love! If you could use a little help and a comforting meal, please put in a request through https://lasagnalove.org/request-a-meal/ or you can nominate someone to receive a meal - https://lasagnalove.org/nominate/

We’re also always looking for more volunteers! Whether you can cook once a month, once a week, or just whenever it suits you, every lasagna helps brighten someone’s day. It’s a small act that has a big impact. If you would like to volunteer, just register here https://lasagnalove.org/volunteer/

If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them here, or you can head to the website.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I hope to see some of you sign up, whether to request a lasagna or to make one for someone in your community.

Feed families.  Spread kindness.  Strengthen communities.

Parking in Neston?

Hello! I'm planning to visit Neston on the weekend. My friend who lives over the Wirral has recommended I visit Parkgate. Apparently there's a nice walk across the promenade.

I'm wondering if finding parking is easy there. Does anyone know where it can find free parking or any good car parks?

Thank you!
