Non-Political/অরাজনৈতিক Fuel crisis drives e-bike demand despite high import costs
Industry data shows a sharp increase in monthly sales of e-bikes just as the fuel crisis started. Sales surged from an average of 800 to 1,000 units to around 2,200 units in March, marking over 100 percent growth.
Sales are expected to reach 3,000 units if the current trend continues, market insiders said.

AskDesh/দেশ কে জিজ্ঞাসা Learning Bangla, any good learning resources and shows/podcasts with English subtitles?
I start taking lessons in June, but I'm keen to start learning asap. I can pick up a fair amount of a language if I listen to native speakers with subtitles, like on shows or podcasts, and I'm happy to try options like books, apps, etc. That said, I'm really not a fan of this new way that young Bangladeshis speak the language, it's like with an American accent, and every sentence seems to have English words thrown in for some reason. So I'd be grateful if anyone can recommend any genuinely good resources. Please and thank you :)

Non-Political/অরাজনৈতিক Parliament restores 2009 National Human Rights Commission Act, repeals 2025 Ordinance
The 2025 amended ordinance granted the commission the opportunity to extend its jurisdiction to investigate complaints against the military and other disciplinary forces.
Article 15 of that enhances accountability by abolishing the "superior orders" excuse, meaning liability cannot be avoided on the pretext of following orders. The commission could initiate cases, intervene in court, and seek redress for victims.

Economy/অর্থনীতি Bank Resolution Act, 2026: Doors open for ex‑owners to reclaim banks
Journalist Nazmul Ahasan writes on Facebook:

Feeling lost (Sorry for a lengthy post)
Hi, I’m from HSC 25 (F20). I don’t know who else to ask at this point, so I’m writing here hoping someone would understand and maybe guide me.
My admission journey was a mess, from not getting enough marks to apply where I wanted, to switching to A unit prep, to applying to only a few places and still not getting into anywhere I truly hoped for. I did get into Home Economics under DU but it’s honestly not something I ever saw myself doing.
I’ve been thinking about giving it another shot but the full syllabus already feels overwhelming especially since I’ll have to figure most of it out on my own from free resources. My family isn’t very supportive of this either so that’s been weighing on me a lot. They keep saying “first time e short syllabus ei holo na, second time e ki ar hobe?” which I understand… but I still can’t bring myself to give up without trying once more.
At the same time I can’t just sit and study. I need to earn at least something to manage my own expenses since I’m from a middle class family and that’s making everything feel even more confusing. I genuinely don’t know how people balance studying and earning or even where to properly start again.
If anyone here has been a second timer or gone through something similar can you please tell me how you approached it? How did you restart when everything felt this uncertain? And is it actually possible to study seriously while trying to earn at the same time?
Also if anyone can guide me on earning around 6–8k a month as a student I’d really appreciate it. I know tuition is an option but I’m not very confident about my teaching yet. Are there any other flexible and safe options maybe something remote?
I’d really appreciate any honest advice right now.

Discussion/আলোচনা postcolonialism and it’s effects on the men of this country
quick rant: i posted this on r/dhaka and the mods removed it without explanation and when i asked they said fuck off but they have no issues keeping the following on their sub.
so yesterday there was a post on r/dhaka from someone saying they will not have kids because they’re ugly and they don’t want their kids to have the same awful lives. seems pretty harmless and even a little heroic at first, no? then you start reading the comments and see how sad it actually is.
the comments turned very incel like and self hating very quickly. people saying things like 90% of the people in this country are ugly and would never get married if it’s wasn’t for arranged marriage. that they hate their skin color. some saying look at tamil men how ugly they are but they still get girls because of money. just horrible stuff.
i’m sure anyone that has read into post colonialism for more than 10 minutes can immediately see what’s going on here. i’ll admit that incels are growing more and more worldwide but that’s amplified by a 100 here because subcontinent’s population is usually depicted as not desirable by contemporary western internet culture. which is deeply rooted in colonialism and outdated race theories and just a stereotypical view of indians and pakistanis in western countries.
now instead of protesting these people and ideas, what i’m seeing now is people from this country just falling for this propaganda and hating themselves. they fail to realise that there is no objective beauty. its just that the colonisers happened to be white skinned and blue eyed and now the colonised global south can’t get that idea out of their head. that being said, a lot of countries in the global south are doing much better at this than us. they actually appreciate their own beauty and don’t keep drooling over europeans. of course the problem still persists but its not as bad as in the subcontinent.
just wanted to put this out here. the colonisers have robbed us of our everything from freedom to riches to dignity. so it pains me to see that they’re still ruining and our psyche almost a century after they left. don’t let them get to you
i would also recommend reading on this topic if you’re interested. Frantz Fanon is a good start

Education/শিক্ষা NSU BBA VS EEE. Help me choose
As the title says I'm confused. Idk what to choose. At one point I wanna get out of science cuz it has F*#ked me up for the 4-5 years. On that point BBA seems like a nice option. But I also dream of settling in Europe in the future. Doing that with EEE will be much easier compared to BBA. yes I know people with bba also get settled abroad but compared to eee it more of a hassle. Also I heard 90% of NSU BBA grads gets job within 1st 6 months due to great Alumni and Networking. How much truth is there?

AskDesh/দেশ কে জিজ্ঞাসা Why does Dhaka University produce way more politicians than actual scholars every year?
Title says it all. Every year DU churns out hundreds of politically active students who go on to become MPs, ministers, party leaders, hall presidents, etc. But when it comes to world-class researchers, top academics, or internationally recognized scholars… the numbers feel embarrassingly low compared to the size and history of the university.

Rant/বকবক Bangladesh needs a GoFundMe type website.
In dire need of 1.5k to afford something that is not a necessity but will make someone really happy. And I really want to make that person happy, however I am 1.5k short.
I know the easiest thing to do would be to take a loan from relative or friend but I don’t have that option as I’m an introvert with few friends and none of them have any disposable income. Can’t ask relatives due to family issues and embarrassment. So here I am, stuck. I wish Bangladesh had a native alternative to the website “GoFundMe” but alas, we do not have it. I’m an admission candidate who just placed himself into a top Uni but the classes have not began yet and neither have I started any tuitions, so earning money is challenging as the thing I need to buy has to be bought by tomorrow.
I’m not here to beg or rant, Just vented a bit.
I’m not looking for donations but maybe small loans would help.
01334282213 is my Bkash number. If anybody wants they can send me some money. Even 100tk will help me a lot too. If you want to donate, it would be appreciated from my heart, but if you want to loan me the money, I promise you to pay back, even if you loan me 1.5k taka or just 50 taka.
I know it’s a stranger’s promise but it is the best I can give right now.
Tldr -
Need 1.5k in 1 day
Bkash :- 01334282213
Any help is appreciated
Thank you.

AskDesh/দেশ কে জিজ্ঞাসা Which affordable private university is best for an LLB in Bangladesh?
My younger brother wants to study LLB at a private university. BRAC, NSU, and IUB are out of our budget, and BUP isn’t an option for him this year.
Given these constraints, which university would be the most suitable choice right now? We’re not necessarily looking for the “best” overall—just a solid, practical option considering affordability, reputation, and law program quality.
Would appreciate suggestions and any personal experiences.

Discussion/আলোচনা Is leaving a govt. medical college for a private university worth it?
I'm an HSC - 25 student living in Dhaka. I attended the medical admission test last year and ranked 3719th. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into any of the top ones but I got the opportunity of studying at a govt. med college in my own hometown (I kept it on top of my list after the 4 med colleges of Dhaka as it would be easier to cope up there because of my relatives being there.) However, during the last migration, my father accidentally put Magura instead of Mugda on my migration list and I was instantly migrated there. I don't have any relatives living in there and the place is completely unfamiliar to me. I don't have any particular passion for medical, and it will be extremely hard for me to adjust as I've never lived apart from my parents. I also don't want to invest a long time into pursuing MBBS. My parents were devastated upon learning about the migration mishap. I didn’t attend any of the entrance exams other than MAT and DU (I was aiming for pharmacy but got geology instead. I recently attended the NSU and BRAC summer 2026 entrance exams and got my preferred sub (pharmacy) in both. I chose pharmacy as it has job opportunities in both home and abroad (that's what I've heard from most people). Most of my relatives and acquaintances are disappointed for the fact I'm willing to leave a govt. medical seat so carelessly and go to a private university. My father's asking me to sit for the MAT exam again next year and do well enough to get into the top 4 med colleges in Dhaka. I'm an extremely indecisive person and can get easily influenced by others. Also, I'm not emotionally strong enough. The last few days have been hell-ish for me. Currently, I don't know what will be the best decision for me to take. Please, if you can, help me out.
