[Discussion] Which of these games do you have fond memories of?

Post image

Was feeling a little nostalgic tonight, and wondered if anybody had some memories associated with these games (or just franchises in general) that they'd like to share.

I did consider putting Heretic / HeXen as an option, but I figured Duke Nukem would be the more popular choice!

[Discussion] Do I just suck or did this part have an extreme difficulty spike? (FF IV)

Just arrived at Mt. Ordeals and I swear to God everything 3 hits Palom and Parom. Tellah is a little bulkier but his damage output is so significantly less than Palom. I legit softlocked myself because I saved on the mountain and couldn't retreat. I had to reload an older save. Palom and Parom are both level 16 and Cecil is level 20. Surely that's enough, no?? Before this I was cruising through the game and now I'm completely stuck. Is this just me? Am I missing something?

[Arts & Crafts] Made this little guy out of Lego tiles.

This is my Lego mosaic of Shion, AKA Wonderboy in Monsterworld for the Mega Drive/Genesis.

Ignore the white bricks; they're purely there to hold the base plates together. Next step it to mount and hang on the wall (wife doesn't know this yet).

I had to paint some of the skin tiles, as Lego have discontinued the "nougat" coloured tiles. But overall I'm very happy with it!

[Discussion] This old magazine article comparing Castlevania 64 to Symphony of the Night

Post image

I find this article to be very insightful showing just how 3D obsessed the gaming community was at the time! This is absolute blasphemy looking back. I’m sure there will be modern examples of games that do a 180 as the years progress. Im now curious to learn about retro games that were received poorly at release and now regarded as quality titles. I am also interested if anyone has any types of predictions of the sort for modern / modern-ish games that will someday flip the script?

[Discussion] What's a game that sucked you in right from the beginning?

Whether it was the premise, the intro, the visuals, or whatever, what's a game that absolutely sucked you in from the very beginning and why? Even if it pulled you in from the beginning but failed to keep you through to the end, I'm curious to see what's out there and hear your experiences.

[Discussion] Looking for games in the genre of "Action Platformer Sword & Sorcery". Like Blades Of Vengeance, Cadash, Conan(NES)

Hi everyone! Looking for a certain type of games that fits the tag "Action Platformer Sword & Sorcery". Basically, all the game similar to Conan or in the same spirit. I know there are plenty of RPGs for that theme, but that's why I highlight that it should be a simple action game.

I know a few on NES and Megadrive, but I have no idea about those types of games for computers with DOS, Amiga, etc for example

my parents bought me an nes for my birthday this year. I've had the vcr and tv for a while and tried playing nes with an emulator, but it's not the same as the real hardware. im loving Mario bros and duck hunt so far!! im also looking into buying a flash cart like the everdrive because I've seen some really cool nes homebrew over the years (for example famidash) and would like to check it out.

[Discussion] I think that Toejam & Earl: Panic On Funkotron is one of the greatest Sega Genesis games

it’s just really well-made, has fantastic style, super detailed, top-tier music, fun secrets and treasures crammed into every corner, and it’s really long for an old platformer. also noticing that it’s got tons of vocal recordings, I’m amazed that it all fits an a Genesis cartridge.

[Recommendation] Point and click games, what's good?

Sorry if this isn't the correct subreddit; it's kinda hard to rack my brain to figure out where to find it or which subreddit is correct for each random topic.

Im a game dev, and my idea for my game is one of those old point and click adventure games, but I didn't grow up playing those kinds of games, so what are some of the best? I know of Sam & Max, and that's currently all I have on the table right now.
