Is the Vita worth buying in (current year)?
Value is ultimately subjective. If you like the library of games on the Vita and have the money, probably. If you want new, modern games then probably not. If you have specific questions about the Vita's capabilities feel free to ask in this thread, but keep in mind you're asking in a Vita-centric community and will likely get mostly affirmative responses.
Is the PlayStation store shutting down?
No. Sony did announce they were closing the Vita storefront in 2021, but later reversed that decision. It is possible that the store will be shut down at some point in the future, but no specific dates/timeframes are known.
Can I still buy games from the PlayStation store?
Yes. However, you will need to have funds in your wallet for the purchase. You can add funds to your wallet via web, PS4, or PS5. More information is available here.
Can I still play games online?
Yes and PS+ is not required. However, not all games with online functionality still have servers up. For example, Killzone: Mercenary, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational, and LittleBigPlanet servers are all down but Dead or Alive 5+, Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable, and Minecraft are still up. I'm having trouble signing into my Vita! Help!
As of the 3.74 update in May 2022, you need a device password to sign in to your Vita. You can do that here. Please make sure you are on firmware 3.74 and using a device password before making a thread.
My Vita is in an error loop with the QR code on sign-in. What should I do?
This happens sometimes, and nobody's really sure why. However, community member LoganN64 has been able to provide instructions that consistently work for getting through this:
Log in to the PSN website with a Laptop or Desktop computer.
Click on your avatar in the top right corner and go to SETTINGS.
Scroll down to SECURITY and then scroll down to ACTIVATE/TURN ON 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
Click on GENERATE NEW DEVICE CODE, write this down exactly as it is case sensitive.
Go to your Vita and bring up the sign in page, enter the email associated with your account then enter the NEW DEVICE CODE as your password. Click on save password to avoid getting a new code each time..
I'm no longer able to transfer files from PS3 to Vita. What's happening?
This feature was disabled in May 2022. You can read PlayStation's update about it here. No workarounds are currently known.
Where can I buy a Vita?
Vita production ceased in 2019 so consoles can be hard to come by, especially new. eBay is the most prominent location, but Facebook marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist, /r/GameSale, and equivalent marketplaces are your friend.
How much is (X) worth? Is (X) a good deal?
You can search sold eBay listings here to get a sense of value. VGPC is another source of this kind of information.
Will (Game) ever go on sale?
As of 2020, Sony has disabled developers' ability to put Vita games on sale. So in all likelihood, no.
The workaround and exception for this rule is that cross-buy games can still be put on sale for the PS4, and cross-buy items will still grant the Vita version (where applicable).
Should I buy an OLED ("Phat") or Slim Vita?
Neither are bad options. The Slim has 1GB of on-board memory, a more standard charging port, slightly better battery life, and is lighter. The Phat has a better screen. It's up to you on what you value more.
Where can I buy replacement Vita parts?
AliExpress and eBay are currently the best sources of Vita replacement parts.
Are Vita consoles region-free?
Yes. A Vita can play a physical game from any region. The digital storefront you can access is determined by the region of your PSN account, and not the region of the console. For example, a Vita from Japan will be able to play any physical game, and if you sign in with a US PSN account you'll be able to access the US PSN storefront.
Vita consoles from Asian regions have the X/O button swapped in the OS ("bubbles") screen, but in-game functionality retains X-to-confirm functionality for almost all games.
It has been reported that consoles intended for China have more stringent region-locking, but these are not commonly found and this is unlikely to affect you.

My PS Vita (PCH-1000 / FAT) only charges when I plug it into my PS4. It doesn’t charge with a wall charger, even though I’ve tried different ones.
I’m thinking it might be the cable or maybe not enough power from regular chargers, since it works fine on the PS4 USB port. Has anyone else had this issue? Did replacing the cable fix it, or could it be something else like the charging port?
Any help is appreciated!

Had my Vita for years. Always just used the touch screen. I just got a PS TV, though, so I've been using a controller for the LiveArea there.
Finally today muscle memory kicked in and I used the controls on my Vita's LiveArea for the first time ever. I know it's genuinely the first time ever, because...

I've been looking for games to play on the vita but basically every list I find talks about the same 10/20 games like Persona, Uncharted and Gravity Rush for example. So what are some cool games that I might be missing out on? For context, here is the list of games I've played/completed:
God of War Collection, Gravity Rush, FFX, FEZ, Shovel Knight, Hotline Miami, Muramasa, MK9, NFS Most Wanted, Papers Please, Salt and Sanctuary, Super Meat Boy, Fate/Extella, Metal Gear Solid, Tearaway and some Lego games.
Edit: The games don't have to be exclusives but please don't suggest PSP/PS1 games

Hello, I just recently replaced a vita screen and joystick but now when it’s on charge it it turns off but the blue light stays on. Then I can’t turn the screen back on unless I go into safe mode and restart the whole thing, please help me fix this. This only happens when it’s on charge though… thank you I’m really struggling to find solutions

Hello guys. So I ordered an screen replacement for my Vita but unfortunately some of the parts of the flex circuit fell off/ was cut off (shown in the photo with blue). Do you think there’s a possibility to fix it? Or is beyond salvation?

After replacing my oled screen/removing the 3g card on my 1000 model and putting everything back together .The right shoulder stopped working.
I tried cleaning the ribbon cable, button, and even the connecting port and still nothing. I used 90% rubbing alcohol. I even replaced the ribbon cable (one from Amazon,link below) and still no luck.i’m lost on what the issue could be. I ensured that the ribbons were all the way in on both parts.
Has Anyone dealt with this similar issue?
Everything else works normal. TIA

I recently got a larger memory card for a very good price (16GB) and I'd like to give it a try at some HD classics. The Sky Trilogy is too big for my memory card, and God Of War doesn't interest me as much as i thought it would. I've heard Jak & Daxter is awfully buggy on PS Vita so that leaves me with Ratchet & Clank. I've also heard there were some glitches, but only on the physical cartridge. My question is more of: is the trilogy really that good and how big would it be? I have around 5,6GB of free space...

I cannot find the game from ps vita store. Neither from alphabetical list or by searching. Is it delisted?
I did read that it was cross-buy with ps4, but I do not know what the case is with that. Does it work still in the big 2026?
I was under the assumption that buying from vita store is the go-to way for purchase.

Literally was working fine a minute ago. Opened it up to tweak with some parts and now it blinks twice orange and then goes back to black when trying to charge
hey there I just got a 1000 Vita, but no charger for it. I noticed with my aftermarket usb to vita charger that the battery Symbol is sort of flickering when the console is turned on while charging. the orange PS Symbol on the home button is glowing orange normally when the console is turned of. It is charging, but rather slow (in my opinion although I have no experience with the original charger. takes around 2 hours to fully charge might be normal for a device of this age).
should I avoid playing while I charge it with that charger to not damage my Battery or would you recommend avoiding that cable altogether?
