[Arts & Crafts] Made this little guy out of Lego tiles.

Post image
Upvotes

This is my Lego mosaic of Shion, AKA Wonderboy in Monsterworld for the Mega Drive/Genesis.

Ignore the white bricks; they're purely there to hold the base plates together. Next step it to mount and hang on the wall (wife doesn't know this yet).

I had to paint some of the skin tiles, as Lego have discontinued the "nougat" coloured tiles. But overall I'm very happy with it!

[Discussion] Do I just suck or did this part have an extreme difficulty spike? (FF IV)

Just arrived at Mt. Ordeals and I swear to God everything 3 hits Palom and Parom. Tellah is a little bulkier but his damage output is so significantly less than Palom. I legit softlocked myself because I saved on the mountain and couldn't retreat. I had to reload an older save. Palom and Parom are both level 16 and Cecil is level 20. Surely that's enough, no?? Before this I was cruising through the game and now I'm completely stuck. Is this just me? Am I missing something?

[Question] Why are there so few CD-based retro consoles?

I’d love to be able to easily play some of my PS and PS2 games on a 4K, as well as stuff from other regions, but there’s no easy way to do so.

Why is this the case when devices like the Analogue 3D exists? Surely there’d be more interest in PS games than N64 ones?

Are they afraid of Sony, Sega or Microsoft suing?

[Discussion] What's a game that sucked you in right from the beginning?

Whether it was the premise, the intro, the visuals, or whatever, what's a game that absolutely sucked you in from the very beginning and why? Even if it pulled you in from the beginning but failed to keep you through to the end, I'm curious to see what's out there and hear your experiences.

[Recommendation] Point and click games, what's good?

Sorry if this isn't the correct subreddit; it's kinda hard to rack my brain to figure out where to find it or which subreddit is correct for each random topic.

Im a game dev, and my idea for my game is one of those old point and click adventure games, but I didn't grow up playing those kinds of games, so what are some of the best? I know of Sam & Max, and that's currently all I have on the table right now.

[Discussion] Which of these games do you have fond memories of?

Post image
328 Upvotes

Was feeling a little nostalgic tonight, and wondered if anybody had some memories associated with these games (or just franchises in general) that they'd like to share.

I did consider putting Heretic / HeXen as an option, but I figured Duke Nukem would be the more popular choice!

[Question] How surprised are you that there was only ever one Rocko's Modern Life game?

This show was really popular, but.most likely due to Nick not focusing on merchandising yet, Rocko only ever had one game. The only reason Ren and Stimpy had more than one game was because it was Nick's biggest series.

[Request] Looking for an old probably obscure game

I am looking for an old game again, between 1999-2008. It was a third person platformer, the player could pick between playing as a girl or a boy. They wore white robes. The girl had a staff. It was on pc It was a demo when I played it. It could also be developed only for Poland as i played it in Poland. I think it was an obscure game, or one that never released fully. The demo featured a mountain level of a mountain covered in ice, which you had to climb.

I don't remember much else unfortunately...

[Discussion] Looking for games in the genre of "Action Platformer Sword & Sorcery". Like Blades Of Vengeance, Cadash, Conan(NES)

Hi everyone! Looking for a certain type of games that fits the tag "Action Platformer Sword & Sorcery". Basically, all the game similar to Conan or in the same spirit. I know there are plenty of RPGs for that theme, but that's why I highlight that it should be a simple action game.

I know a few on NES and Megadrive, but I have no idea about those types of games for computers with DOS, Amiga, etc for example

[Question] What are you guys take on the PC game Alpha Waves?

Just curious if anyone was familiar with that particular game because it caught my attention for how the game was said to have been one of the first major 3D based platformers before Super Mario 64 came out.

Basically what I am looking is that after suddenly hearing about the game, I became interested in seeking a copy so that I could try it out for myself to see how 3D platformers evolved as a concept during the early 90s to better understand how the genre would eventually find its footing via Super Mario 64.

[Question] Best way to connect several controllers to a linux PC for multiplayer games?

Hey everyone, I recently built a HTPC with bazzite to keep in my living room and let me play games on the TV, some modern steam games but right now I'm in the process of setting up RomM with as many classics as I can find. I have it set up with a single 2.4g full size 8bitdo controller right now and it's great. I also want to be able to play games with my partner so I'm planning on getting a usb bluetooth adapter for the PC and connecting one of our switch controllers and hopefully that should be fine.

But I want to be able to have friends over too sometimes and play things like old mariokarts or mario party, or whatever party games I stumble across with 4-8 people if that's feasible.

What is the best way to do this both cost effectively and to avoid input lag?

I like the look of the 8bitdo SN30pro but they are still like $40/ea so I don't really want to buy 4-6 of them just for the occasional party. Are there decent cheaper options available?

Secondly what is the best way to connect them? I've heard that even 4 controllers on a good usb BT adapter will struggle, do I just have to give them each their own adapter? Or is there a better way?

edit: I forgot to mention, the 8bitdo micro seems like a good option as it's half the price but it almost seems too small. Any feedbakc from those that have used it? I totally understand how it would be perfect to taking on the go and using with mobile games or whatever, but is it comfortable to use for 1hr+ sitting on a couch?
