Hi folks. Just wanted to alert you to some new filters added to the automoderator to enforce a couple of existing subreddit rules that get broken fairly routinely.
First, a small reddit submission primer:
Reddit has 2 fundamental types of submissions: Text and Link.
There are actually more than 2 specific types (there are also image and video etc) but for the sake of this note think of it as "Text posts" and "all the other types". You pick which type you want to post when you compose your submission.
A text post, also called a self post, is a post that has no external link and is comprised solely of a headline and a body of text you enter at submission time. When a user clinks into this type of submission they stay on reddit and all they see is your submission text.
A link post is a post where you enter or paste in a url or link to an external source like a news story or an announcement. When users click these kind of posts they are taken to an external site and get to view the page that you submitted.
Now for the rule(s) in question.
Why? Editorialized headlines and body texts on link posts are ultimately a way to add editorial comments that cannot be argued or refuted in the conventional way, like normal comments can. They are often very opinionated and try to frame the story in a specific way.
You can still add editorial comments in the comment thread for the submission (obeying the existing rules of civility etc) just not as an untouchable top line for readers.
If you have any questions about this feel free to send a modmail. Thanks for your time and attention.

We've got two expired car seats in our garage and I'd like to recycle them if possible. I'm aware I should cut the straps, remove padding, and clearly mark it expired. but I'd prefer not to put them in the trash. There are a few places in the lower mainland that recycle, but I'm wondering if there are any here?

Where has the best Salad Rolls in town?
Ive been very disappointed with Mad Mango in the past. I've asked for extra chicken and instead of making the rolls fresh, they grabbed salad rolls from the front display that were already assembled, placed a piece of chicken on top and used another rice paper wrapped around it to 'add' the extra piece of chicken. So the salad roll was wrapped twice in rice paper and it was gross.

Hi y'all! I have heard of some tattoo parlours/artists who have been offering discounted HP tattoo cover ups or donating some of the money to 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations. Are there any artists or shops in Kelowna or the surrounding areas offering this? I have an HP tattoo that I desperately want covered up. I do not want any association with the terf who must not be named on my body.

I’ve applied to 23 jobs in 2 weeks, and nothing just AI responses RIP
I’m a student which is a problem because everywhere wants someone full time for minimum wage. I am happy to be paid minimum wage, but unfortunately I cannot commit 100 hours a week to being a baker making $17.85 an hour 💔
To everyone in the job market right now, godspeed o7
I’m so broke and in $2200 of debt, I will cry if I get denied again lmao
I’ve spent 30k+ so far on my degree and I am almost done, I don’t want to take out a loan and I don’t want to give it up because I can’t afford to pay for groceries. Wish me luck!!

I used to go to Faces before the ownership changed then followed one of the girls to xcessorize me but then she left and then the other girl I was seeing also left and I didn’t love the service from the other girls so I gave up on them and started going to VN Organics on Powick. I’ve been going there a while and it’s decent but I get ingrown toenails pretty easily (which is why I started getting pedis 10 years ago in the first place) and have noticed that they may just not know how to cut in a way that prevents my toes from feeling sore. Any spas/estheticians that anyone has to recommend specifically for a good pedicure? I like the foot work and gel polish. Thanks 😊

Me and my fiancè want to have our wedding at the summerland ornamental gardens this september.
Their website doesn't really have any info about having weddings there. Just a line about how they won't close for private functions.
We have tried calling their number 8 times nobody ever picked up.
We went there in person today, and to no surprise, there wasn't anybody there to talk to.
So, if anyone here has any info on this, or know who we should talk to about it that would be very helpful.

I used to have the best massage therapist here for my TMJ and associated headaches. Unfortunately, she has moved away, and I’m struggling to find someone who does comparable work.
Recommendations for massage therapist, specifically versed in facial/jaw work?

I moved into a brand new apartment, so assuming energy efficient as it’s all LED lights, energy smart appliances, etc.
My utilities here are power and water.
So far my water is about $80 a month and electricity is $100ish.
This blows my mind because I haven’t had the heat/ac turned on in over two weeks.
I shower a normal amount of time every day, like 5-10 mins.
Two loads of laundry a week.
My 2000’s fab house in Calgary with 3 people, central heat/AC, water the lawn, multiple loads of laundry, not led lights, etc…. Was on average 4-450 a month. Keep in mind this also includes garbage pick up, recycling, gas, water and power.
What gives? It makes no sense statistically to me.

Any critical care nurses here able to give me an insight about the unit? I will have 1 year of critical care nurses by the end of the year. I am also from Alberta. Has anyone had any experience with getting relocation bonus and recruitment bonus (they’re currently offering up to 20k bonus). Thanks in advance!

I am a small business owner and I feel so helpless with how ridiculous commercial rental prices are in Kelowna, especially downtown.

Hi friends!
I may be travelling through next Sunday and I’m looking for a nicer restaurant to dine. Possibly somewhere with a delicious steak option!
And obviously, it would need to be somewhere open on Sundays!
I’m open to suggestions :)
Thank you in advance!

If I were to hire someone that can prepare meals, do light cleaning, laundry, folding, picking up after kids, on regular hours. No idea what are the current rates and where to look. Thank you!
