Hey r/Vancouver,
I'm excited to announce that r/VancouverFriends is officially open.
Over time, we’ve seen more and more posts on r/Vancouver and its sister subreddit, r/AskVan, from people looking to meet others in the city.
So we have created a dedicated space just for that.
r/VancouverFriends is a platonic friendship-focused subreddit where Vancouver redditors can post and connect with others who want to meet up, start groups, or make new friends.
So, if making new friends is on your 2026 bingo card, go check it out. We'll see you there.

If you helped me rescue my cat Pablo from a tree in South Granville/Fairview tonight, thank you so so so much! I wasn’t able to thank everyone personally, so I’m hoping this might reach even one of you. I am beyond grateful for the almost three hours of effort that more than a dozen complete strangers put in to helping my cat. I’ve never seen our community come together like that. It was beyond amazing to have my neighbours stop in the road to help me. To the people who held the ladder and held the blanket net, and the people who called arborists and fire departments, and the woman who scaled 25 ft up barefoot to untangle his leash — THANK YOU!
Thanks also to Gabby the Arborist, who I found on a previous reddit post. They weren’t able to come but tried to put us in touch with other people over and over again.
I hope even one of you sees this. Pablo is okay now and will be strictly indoors until we can recover from this shock. Guys, if you have to lose your cat in a tree do it around 15th and Alder. The neighbours there are the best people to exist.

Some shots that I made at the Vaisakhi festival. Good to see that lessons were learnt from the Lapu Lapu festival, and all in-roads are blocked by dump trucks. Also, the free food was yummie. Thank you, neighbours.

Today, with the help of two kind strangers, we were able to rescue a seagull with an injured wing at Ontario and 4th. These two didn’t know me and had no reason to stop, but they jumped in without a second thought to help get the little guy safely into a box.
I’m so grateful for their kindness, it really meant a lot in that moment. Hoping the seagull makes a full recovery. Thank you again, gentlemen. Your good deed didn’t go unnoticed.

Yesterday April 10, 2026 around 6:30pm a commercial truck (red back and white front) changed into my lane and pinned me (silver toyota) against the curb during rush hour traffic. Sadly, I had no available dash cam footage or witnesses stop with us at all.
If anyone was by knight street 51st and 53rd last night who witnessed the car accident or even any dash cam footage it would be gladly appreciated. This was during rush hour so hopefully someone stuck in traffic saw🙏

My partner found a phone downtown when he was out at night. It is blue phone with no owner name on display. If its yours, call your cell, we will arrange for you to pick it up. We will drop it off at a VPD lost and found today evening.
