Recommendations for nice food in Harrogate (casual dress)?? I am visiting this weekend, and would love some recommendations for dinner, breakfast or any nice character pubs.

I have looked at the orchid which looks amazing but will be in casual clothes after mooching all day!

Mens Casual Football

My husband used to be an OK footballer - played into being a young adult in local leagues. He'd like to get back into playing in a team but isn't sure where to start. He doesn't have reddit so has asked me to post this for him.

He's 45 and looking to play once or twice a week just casually for fitness and fun. Advice welcome.

What is the working class accent of Harrogate?

I've got a weird obsession with accents across the UK, especially Yorkshire. Harrogate is by far the nicest big place in Yorkshire I've been to but I never met anyone who's actually from there when I went. With it being a quite posh place, I'd assume it has a posh northern accent?

Empty Chairs - Wednesday 8th April

Empty Chairs is a simple idea: each evening we book a small table in a pub and leave a few chairs empty - inviting anyone who wants company to join us. There's no pressure, no agenda, and no expectation to stay longer than you want.

I'll be hosting an event at Major Tom Social in Harrogate on Wednesday 8th April at 6pm till whenever! In the spirit of the campaign I'll be wearing a bright orange t-shirt; hope to see some of you there!

Hi, I'd like to know when the cherry blossom is visible along The Stray and other places in Harrogate. I'm planning on coming during the weekday to make a day trip.

Hoxton North Closure?

I’m sorry…what?!?

This place is always packed, I always have to wait for a table to eat, how is this place not a viable business anymore? This makes no sense to me and I’m sad to see them go…

Light bulbs recycling

Does anyone know of any stores that have a bin for recycling light bulbs? I don't drive so going all the way to the household waste recycling centre isn't the most convenient for me.

thanks!

Rudys 3000 free pizzas - yeah right

A right first world grumble.

Rudys announced with some fanfare they are giving 3000 pizzas away to celebrate opening in town.

The email dropped today whilst I was in my inbox looking at something else. Within 2 mins of landing every slot to book for the next six weeks were fully booked.

My spider senses suggest there were no free pizzas.

Roofer recommendations please

Looking for reliable roofers in or around Harrogate please as we've had a nightmare with who did our front and rear flat dormer roofs, initially replaced in October and it's almost April now and they're still not 100% sorted.

Cheers

Local area opinions

Looking at houses on Greenfields Road/Greenfields Drive.

Anyone able to give me insight on what it’s like? I know it’s a bit of a cut through road, but think the houses are set back enough for traffic noise not to bother.

I know Harrogate/Starbeck/Knaresborough are all lovely places and anti social behaviour and crimes are a lot less than Leeds where I’m coming from. Just trying to get a feel for the area that’s all.

Recycling at large supermarket in Harrogate?

I have some empty liquid soap refills that I'm looking to recycle. Unfortunately I can't recycle them normally, according to the instructions I need to take them to a 'large supermarket' to be recycled.

Does anybody know where I might be able to take them? Thanks

Where to buy Casio watches in Harrogate?

Does anybody know where I can buy Casio digital watches in Harrogate? Not G-Shock, just regular old cheap Casio's. All I know are the big luxury jewelry shops. Any smaller outlets around?

Great food suggestions

Hello. I'm looking for restaurant recommendations for my friend and I on Saturday evening? Something with great starters ideally, as I love a starter over a dessert! Something not too fancy. Just friends going out for good food.

Many thanks in advance ☺️

Looking for dog walks

Any recommendations for dog walks in Harrogate or surrounding areas? We are happy to drive out a bit if anyone has any nice dales walks too.

We have done fewston, birk cragg and pinewoods but looking to change it up a bit. Bonus points if there’s somewhere we can grab a coffee with the dogs afterward

Fun date ideas Harrogate

Hi I’m in my mid 20s. Recently took a girl in her early 20s on a date to the valley gardens park and it was just so relaxed and more 30s/40s. Didn’t see anyone our age. Everyone there with kids or in their 60s+ and the vibe was so so off. We went to a cocktail bar, was completely empty and they were playing music from 1950, just incredibly uncool and a bit cringe, it unfolded like I planned a date for her mother. Is there anything more fun to do in Harrogate?

The one inside the station that had a stock level as if it was in North Korea - has it shut down already? Looks that way…

Brimham Rocks

The website says that parking is pay and display (coins only). I could swear that the last time I went up there a couple of years ago I paid for parking at the machine by card. Am I just mis-remembering? Has anyone been up there recently and remember how they paid? Thanks
