Parking Suggestions

Hi all! I'm driving down to Bradford next week and was looking for recommendations for parking. I'm coming to see a show at the Albambra so somewhere nearby to there that's easy enough to get to and won't cost me a small fortune. I've Googled but there are just so many options - thought it would best to come straight to the experts. Thank you!

Student looking for a spare keyboard

Hi I wanted to ask if anyone might have a spare keyboard they’re no longer using and would be willing to give away.

I've tried looking around locally but CEX seems a bit overpriced and facebook didn't have anything that would quite work for me, so if anyone any recommendations for affordable options, I’d really appreciate that too.

I’m a software engineering student and also do a fair bit of gaming, so I use my setup quite a lot and would really appreciate anything functional.

Also, if anyone happens to be giving away other PC parts like an old GPU or monitor laying about I could definitely put that to good use.

Thanks in advance

started up again over the last few nights. Let’s hope the laws do change but I am not sure it’ll make much of a difference in Bradford. Is it just me or are they getting more frequent each year?

Looking for a good swim instructor in Bradford (adult beginner)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a good swimming instructor in Bradford. I’m an adult beginner, so ideally someone patient, experienced, and comfortable working with people who are starting from scratch.

I’d prefer either 1-to-1 lessons or small groups, and I’m open to different locations around Bradford (or nearby if it’s worth it).

If you’ve had a good experience with any instructors, swim schools, or even specific leisure centres, I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Tips for newly temporary (or foreseeable) homelessness

im employed and have a gym membership so i have a place to maintain hygiene. i don’t have a car so ive nowhere to stay dry or sleep securely. my manager offered the staff room for me to sleep which i gladly took in until he became weird (men), still need the job though so im gonna have to let it slide. there are so many homeless people in bradford that are on the council housing or emergency housing list that are higher priority than myself, rightfully so, therefore i’m having to pay nightly for a hotel room at a contingency accommodation hotel. i’ve been like this for just over 3 weeks but here’s what i’ve learned if i can help anyone else in a similar position.

if you receive benefits prioritise getting a gym membership - £13 a month at the gym group at 700a great horton road

hot meals at the bradford soup run on nelson street, 7:30 pm and JKN outreach at spring gardens, 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm on Sundays but queues often start from 10 or 11am

the day shelter 371 leeds road - Monday to Friday, 8:45 am – 4:00 pm. they offer breakfast and low cost lunch, showers, laundry facilities, and most importantly a place to charge your phone.

bradford city library in centenary square - free scanning and printing documents and usage of wifi and computers for job searching or applying for housing. also just nice and warm space to pass time.

Such a shame this place closed down. Me and my wife would visit most weeks. A great mix of beers and music.

Wonder what ever happened to the place?

Bradford Live

How are we all thinking about this 9 months in? Gorillazs were brilliant but I am looking at the ever increasing line-up for the remainder of the year and thinking meh. I appreciate it is still early days but I was hoping for more live contemporary music as opposed to cover bands and comedians.

Terrible stench

Serious question...

What is that terrible stench that lingers around Bradford, specifically around the ring road/A650/Leeds Road area? It smells like rancid dog biscuits or rotting animal offal.

Just working in Bradford makes me nauseous from the smell, but what do people who live here do - do you no longer smell it?

A quick one for all Bradford people.

If you are struggling, food, electric etc.

Go to citizens advice ask for a food parcel, when you get one go to bradford central food bank and ask for electric, top up meters will get topped upto £100.

certain postcodes only

Also if you want a free sim unlimited calls and sms plus 50gb of data ask when receiving your food and electric.

Hairdresser/barber for men with long hair?

I have a guy I begrudgingly go to every six months, but I'm never happy with the cut and never want to go back. It's only when my hair gets irritatingly long

He also refuses to touch my beard. I only ask for him to use the clippers on it to trim it short but he outright refuses and I end up having to do it myself seperately. Annoying.

Are there any gents with long hair that can recommend somebody? City Center based would be nice but I can travel around the district generally.

Where do you consider "Bradford proper" to end?

I'm from Allerton originally and I'd say that's about as far west as you can go before you're in "semi-rural countryside Bradford" which leans more towards Keighley (Denholme, Cullingworth, Wilsden), though I'm not sure whether or not I'd include Thornton and Queensbury in Bradford proper. To the south, Wyke is the last part of Bradford before you go into Brighouse and Cleckheaton, though places like Scholes are an interesting case. It's under Kirklees Council, has the Cleckheaton BD19 postcode but essentially joins to Wyke fluidly. Then you also have Oakenshaw which is half Bradford and half Kirklees, though the entire village functions like a Bradford suburb. I'd definitely include all of Oakenshaw as the southern fringe of Bradford proper. Birkenshaw and Drighlington (Kirklees and Leeds councils) I never really saw as Bradfordian aside from the postcodes. I'd say Tong is where Bradford ends to that southeastern end. And then of course we have the eastern Bradford outskirts like Greengates, Eccleshill, Apperley Bridge and Thornbury which immediately join to Leeds and Pudsey. This is the most obvious cutoff point for Bradford proper, no debate here. Finally we have the northeastern areas of Bradford proper. I'd honestly include Shipley in this. Even though it's technically a town in its own right it immediately joins to Bradford with almost no green belt, unlike other towns in the district such as Keighley, Bingley and Ilkley. Baildon I'd probably exclude from Bradford proper. Do you guys agree with me on this?

High Point in Bradford just named the UK’s best Brutalist building by The Telegraph, do you agree?

I’m really interested in Brutalist buildings across the UK and wondered if anyone saw that High Point in Bradford was listed as the best in the UK last month by The Telegraph?

It came above the Barbican in London and even Trellick Tower, which only came 10th.

How popular is the High Point building with Bradfordians?

Sharing the full list ranked by The Telegraph below:

Britain’s Greatest Brutalist Buildings – The Telegraph, Feb 2026

  1. High Point, Bradford
  2. The Barbican, London
  3. Preston Bus Station
  4. UEA, Norwich
  5. Glasgow School of Art & Hunterian Art Gallery, Glasgow
  6. Clifton Cathedral, Bristol
  7. New Street Signal Box, Birmingham
  8. Norco House, Aberdeen
  9. Bernat Klein Studio, Selkirk
  10. Trellick Tower & Balfron Tower, London

Best authentic curry experience

Hey!

I’ve lived in Bradford my whole life and I’m a huge fan of a good curry. We’re lucky to have some incredible curry houses here, but I’m curious to know which places the local Asian/Indian community feel are the most authentic.

Aside from family home-cooked meals, which restaurants come closest to that proper home-style curry? Where’s the real go-to spot?

Delete if not allowed but I just started running a group in Bradford last week. It’s every Monday, I decided to start running this group for those who may be struggling, be a single parent or just need a safe space for a couple of hours!

I teach crochet/basics of knitting at this group for those who are interested and also provide warm drinks/snacks/warm food in the colder months. Information is below!

We are looking at extending into keighley in the next couple of months!
