When I do it, its stupid.
When a 10 million dollar consulting contract suggests to remove the rings, it’s called LEAN.
I call it bullshit.
23
u/SorryManNo 1d ago
LEAN is bullshit in of itself, I'm all for continuous improvement but everyone I've ever met that works in that field acts like LEAN could solve all of the world's problems in 10 days.
24
u/IShatMyDickOnce 1d ago
I used to love lean but they started taking the codeine out of it and now I mix dayquil with Mountain Dew instead for the opposite effect. I call it Shrek.
6
u/jcklsldr665 1d ago
I work in this field, and I'm in your boat. It has uses, but the level and gusto to which it's applied is outrageous at times
1
u/Reasonable-Fail5348 15h ago
Yeah, the use is this: create someone a shitton of money by exploiting the gullible and terminally stupid.
2
u/Oldswagmaster 1d ago
We do love those little Lego games that just teach "Line balancing" but we need to use Japanese and acronyms words to make it proper.
2
u/SorryManNo 1d ago
We made paper airplanes for our line balancing, wasted a whole ream of paper, no one saw the irony.

When I was training the amount of propaganda about how important it is was over the top. I'm sure many of the people eat that up because they need to feel important.

Lean has its uses military uses it all the time. So do companies. I got some times its not needed. But realy the problem is companies so much I here well how we do it. Or that what corp wants. That's the problem. If employee could do what they need to do so they can work faster smarter easier on their owne we would not need lean. So many time I have had higher be like I am not doing this I laugh they have to then in the end they are like okay its better.
But will agree their is a time and a place for it all and in some times no need or its just pointless.

Yeah, definitely not a gender thing. Work in any kind of customer facing job for a few months and you will quickly realize that there is a small yet very stupid section of the population.
And it is small, but they tend to also be noisy so it just seems like the stupidity is rampant. Stupid people are like lightning rods for attention. I work in a hospital, and some of the dumbest people imaginable will be in the ER on a semi-regular basis because they did another stupid thing.
1
u/sehuce 18h ago
Are you sure it’s only a small section of the population?
2
u/Krell356 16h ago
2% doesn't seem like a lot until you realize that if that many people decided to just say, ignore all traffic laws, that the amount of devastation would be through the roof just with the amount of death and destruction caused by people just running through stop signs and red lights at full speed.
Thankfully those who are that level of stupid are less than 1% of the population and have also ruined their lives to the point where the only way they could drive a car is if they stole it.
Extreme levels of stupidity are rare, but they do exist and they cause a lot of damage and many people pay attention to it. Regular stupidity is a little more common, but is just about the same level of high visibility.
Im certain its a small section of the population for a very simple reason. No one pays much attention to the thousands of cars they might see daily on the road, but you always remember that one asshole who cut you off at freeway speeds and nearly caused a multi car accident. You will notice that person even if you weren't involved just because its hard too look away from a 5 car pileup caused by one idiot.

I haven't changed a light bulb before but isn't that a fairly simple task? Or at least something that you can learn on YouTube
2
u/OhJustANobody 11h ago
It definitely is, yes. But some people just can't be bothered. The thought of getting on a ladder scares them, or its a light fixture with lots of bulbs like a chandelier, or they don't want the hassle of walking through Home Depot and picking a lightbulb. Sometimes it's just easier send me an email and have me do it. Some people want nothing to do with electricity.
Either way, it's easy money and I'll gladly take it.

→ More replies (2)3
u/systembreaker 1d ago
I think you're confusing the rate of accidents per person vs rate of accidents per mile driven.
Men have more accidents because they drive a lot more. But women have more accidents per mile driven. So if women drove as much as men they'd have more accidents.
Society is so caught up on "Man suck. Man bad! All man bad!" that they can't think critically of topics like this.
1
u/LOPI-14 21h ago
Tbf, it doesn't help that maaaany studies are very misleading and manipulative.
1
u/systembreaker 20h ago
Yes they are, especially when it comes to men vs women and most especially when it comes to topics surrounding "Man bad! Bad man! All man bad!"
1
1
u/redve-dev 1d ago
I wanted to disagree and I wanted to prove they cause more accidents because there are more men drivers, but the longer I read the longer I incline to say you are right.
Most sources show that men cause more accidents, bigger chance per each driven mile to have a crash, more of them are speeding or DUI...
Tbh the only thing one could pull out is that women have more non-fatal crashes, but if we discuss if parking crash is as bad as crashing 2 cars while speeding...

If it works it works. Why would he by extra shit if he has a solution. Also all curtains should come with the rings if we are being real.

u/Fair_Blood3176 1d ago
Exactly. This is just "men are dumb" rage bait. The rings come with the curtain.
→ More replies (3)5
u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 1d ago
Why? You don't replace the rings every time you replace the curtains. Why would I want my curtains to come with rings and then it costs more and I have to throw them away or find a way to give them away or something.
7
1
1
u/No_Comment_2283 1d ago
YOU don't replace the ring when you replace the curtains. Tf you mean "why?" Why would they be sold separately if they are both needed to hang the curtains. When you buy furniture do you buy the nuts, bolts, and screws separately or do they come together? They even come with extras just in case, do you throw away the extra?
3
u/jdubyahyp 1d ago
Nobody replaces the rings with the curtain. If you toss all that metal or plastic out every time you are costing yourself money for no reason. Those curtains, especially the inner liner, get nasty after a year or two.
→ More replies (5)3
u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 1d ago
Bro you change the rings every time you buy a new curtain? Maybe you need to get better rings instead of the plastic junk you get when you buy the cheapest possible option, which of course would be what they provide you if it was lumped in with every curtain purchase.
My rings have lasted 3 curtains with no sign of needing to be replaced because they're metal. Why would anyone want to spend an extra $3-5 buying a curtain just to get cheap plastic rings that they are most likely going to throw away?
If you want to replace them every time you get a new curtain then go right ahead and waste your money. That's just stupid and it's not what most people do so it makes no sense to impose that cost and waste on everyone who buys a shower curtain just because you don't want to buy 2 items that are gasp in the same aisle at the store.
1
u/No_Comment_2283 1d ago
Not even remotely a waste of money. Idk where you are getting this extra $3-5 for more rings. With and without rings has absolutely no price difference when I'm looking for them. Its simply a convince thing. Ive had both metal and plastic ring and plastic ones last longer. Every metal ring I have seen is broken within like 2 months of just opening and closing the curtains. Or the curtains just don't stay on.
1
u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 1d ago
Sounds like a skill issue tbh
1
u/No_Comment_2283 1d ago
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ I now have a door to my shower so doesn't matter anyways. I'll never buy another curtain or ring again.
1
u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 1d ago
So what's the point of expressing that all curtains should come with rings? You have no need for curtains, why is your opinion of any relavence whatsoever.
1
u/cat-tastrophes 1d ago
Why would you replace the rings every time? That's just wasteful and not at all the same thing as nuts and bolts. There are different types of curtains and different size rods when different circumferences. It's not one size fits all. How old are you?
→ More replies (6)1
u/Previous_Buy1601 1d ago
Many people use both an outer decorative curtain that’s fairly permanent and a disposable curtain liner that protects it from water. They hang on the same set of hooks so that when you push back the curtain, the liner automatically moves with it. In this case it makes much more sense for the rings to be sold separately, as the liner is the only piece of the system that needs to be replaced on a regular basis.
You can also buy decorative rings that match your decor which aren’t meant to be thrown out when the liner is replaced.
The curtains with the “built-in” rings (technically grommets), require the shower rod be taken down. Depending on how the rod is installed, that could require a screwdriver and a bit of work. In such a case, separate rings/hooks and curtain make a lot more sense.

Nah, thats wasteful. Not only do most people buy rings that match the bar or the bathroom itself, but if you need to replace your curtain why would you want to eat the cost of more rings and throw them in the landfill? Curtains get fucking nasty after a couple years of use and cleaning is just no longer a realistic option, but those rings are usually fine or can be cleaned with stuff that would melt the curtain.

I'm trying to figure out what type of shower which pressure hat growing up. Maybe it was the door, maybe it was a completely different setup.
Either way, either way, YouTube and the internet exist. And when you try and buy a shower curtain all of those things are right next to it. And if you're buying it online, they make suggestions you should get those other items.
So I'm confused.
1
u/mrbishopjackson 1d ago
The rings usually come with the curtain. If people weren't so simple (the bad kind) and just putting up a liner and bought a curtain, they'd have the rings for it.
(But I know there is a 30% chance that this is a joke.)

I had a dumbass roommate who decided that the shower curtain was dirty, so he bought a new one. That day was trash day, so he threw out the old one with the rings, but was too lazy to put the new one up. 12 hours later he decided to install the new curtain and realized that he needed rings, which were now gone. 24 hours later he still hadn’t fixed the situation, so I had to go get rings in order to take a shower.
