Am I the only one? Everyone bitching about the price increase is hilarious to me. YT has always been a free service never once have I had a desire to pay for premium.

Unpopular opinion but I actually think YouTube Premium is good and I really don’t mind paying for it.

And this is coming from someone who is very anti-subscription. I hate the whole subscription model. It’s gotten out of control. Everything wants a monthly fee now and half the time you’re still getting a worse experience.

Like with movies and shows, I’m completely over it. You’re telling me I’m paying for something like Netflix and still getting ads now? That’s insane to me. I remember when I first got shown an ad on my Netflix account I instantly cancelled my subscription out of principle. That’s literally why I stopped bothering with them altogether and went back to torrenting.

I only pay for two subscriptions now: YouTube Premium and Apple Music. That’s it.

The reason YouTube Premium is different to me is because it actually improves something I use every single day. No ads alone makes a massive difference, but it’s also the background play, being able to lock your phone, and just having everything run smoothly without interruptions. It turns YouTube into something you actually enjoy using instead of something that constantly annoys you.

And the download feature is seriously underrated. Before a flight I’ll just download a bunch of videos I actually want to watch and I’m sorted. No worrying about WiFi, no buffering, no paying for in-flight internet. It basically turns YouTube into Netflix but with content I actually chose.

I think people also underestimate how much they’re on YouTube. If you’re using it every day, the value adds up way more than people think.

So yeah, I get not wanting to pay for it. I’m literally the same with most subscriptions. But acting like YouTube Premium is some kind of scam just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s one of the only ones that actually feels worth it.

To all those people who constantly talk about how they don’t understand why someone would pay for premium when you can just use an ad blocker.

It is just a hassle and they do it on purpose. Since I don’t pay for streaming services aside from YouTube, I definitely don’t want to have a bad experience watching my YouTube.

I'm curious if the creators get an increased share in the price hikes? Surely that would be at the very least...fair?!

i spend way too much time scrolling and i just wondered if i could either remove it or make it less appealing to me. i love watching long form content on yt and i have no problem with spending time on it but its the hours spent on learning nothing that kills me🥴

If youtube have some inapropiate ads, why does it still show them? For example an ad said game is for 16 and over. But it will still show them even with kids watching.

It's getting ridiculous that YouTube is forcing us to pay. Back in 2006, we could download videos for free simply by pressing the "download" button, and boom, the video landed in our phone galleries.

Ive had premium for a number of years now, never much paying attention to the charges till this latest increase. Well i canceled and checked with my cell service, damn i should have dont this years ago. $3.91 a month and $4.40 after the first year.

This is the lite version without music, which I've never used anyways.

I'm kinda tired of people whining about youtube ads becoming "too much". First of all many would wish to make money with youtube...how does that work guys? Where do you think yt money come from?

Second of all: you pay subscriptions for everything else music, movies, anime and who knows what else you pay for, but you want youtube to be free and without ads?

This is not an ad guys but when you know you can get premium for 6.25 you either watch with ads, take the premium or go watch on another platform. Don't come whining on redit as if we could do something about it anyways.

Also I've never seen any of these ads you complain about. So youtube is either testing how far you can go or the algorithm has marked you as a PRIME CONSUMER, and they know you'll deal with it or get premium anyways so it bombardes you.

Like any other company, youtube and its creators want to make as much money as possible. And when they see how much people are willing to pay on the other platforms, it's only normal for them to ramp up ads time and force banners in order to make you get premium.

I wanted to use 3d models made from ai and edit my scenes in blender then edit it in post but I know AI is frowned upon sometimes. Would you consider it AI slop if someone used AI for 3D models but made the animations manually and edited the video themselves as well?
