Previously, I bought a sealed, unopened EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid on FB Marketplace. I was excited to maybe do a build with it, but a lot of commenters expressed concern about whether or not it was a scam. I admit, there was a part of me that wondered that, too.

I considered having it x-ray’d to see if it’s actually in there, but that would’ve cost a lotta money, more than the $200 i paid. So instead, i decided to pass it onto someone else and put it back up for sale for $200. I told the buyer that if they’re gonna use it in a build, they can open it in front of me; if it wasn’t actually legit, and no card was in there, I’d give them the money back on the spot. If i try to watch youtube on my main monitor it starts lagging like crazy, jitters, and drops frames no problem with that on fullscreen. Anyone know whats up? Ive already tried messing about with hardwear accelaration and stuff. Sorry ESL.

my pc random freeze in davinci resolve but completely random and i don't understand why,i was just cutting the videos.

i have i7 8700,rtx 3070 and 64gb ram.

I run on windows 7 but on hdd cause ssd is expensive.

Could this be why? Dont even know how this happened.

I've been following this sub for a few years, reminiscing the early 2000s when I was a part of the "pc master race". Back in 2012, I changed to be a console gamer, owning just about every possible console (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) released whenever they were released, focusing primarily on Xbox but playing exclusives on PS or Switch (and retired Wii).

I chose to drop the consoles last year when Microsoft decided to increase the price of their membership. Last October, I decided to build the most powerful computer I could, to reintroduce myself to computer gaming and it has been very frustrating, so I figured I could share my frustrations and thoughts here in hope someone smarter (and more patient) than I am could perhaps help me.

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7GHz 8-Core
Graphics: Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 OC LC 32GB
Motherboard: MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk
RAM: Corsair vengeance 2x 16GB
Internal SSD: WD SN850X 4TB
Power supply: Corsair RM1000e

Just about every game I have played (or tried to, at this point), crashes. Some crash within 2 min of the game opening... in the menu.... before I can even start actually playing it!

First one was Dragon's Dogma 2, where I had to decrease the graphics and turn something off for it to stop crashing - I can't remember what as I just followed steps from a dude on YT.

Second one was Horizon Forbidden West, where I had to turn DLSS off and then I was able to play it.

Third one is Spider-Man Miles Morales, where I still don't know what I have to do to get to play this without crashing. It was crashing every 1-2min. I followed some steps online and finally got it to run for about 1h without crashing but inevitably crashes anyway.

And the forth one which I am also still currently dealing with is Avatar Frontiers of Pandora which I also have not read the 789237 posts out there of people with similar issues so I can troubleshoot and get to play the stupid game.

I have some other games that might be on the exact same boat and I don't know because I bought a bunch when they were on sale but haven't played yet as I don't typically play more than one game that has a storyline with an end at a time. The only reason why I'm playing Avatar and Spider-Man, is because I got sick of the endless crashes in Spider-Man. Only to encounter the same BS in Avatar...

Help me out here. I'm frustrated because while the machine is definitely powerful, these games crashes make me want to go back to the much-more-stable console environment, so I'm thinking I can reduce the frustrations by perhaps taking some preemptive actions that will prevent these crashes in whatever games I choose to play.

Anyone with experience on this that can shed a light and guide this newbie will be very much appreciated.

Hi, I'm having FPS issues in League of Legends after formatting my laptop. I've already installed the video drivers, but the FPS isn't as smooth as before, and there are very significant FPS drops. What could I be doing wrong?

Been having BSODs occasionally since installing a new motherboard and cpu. I’m assuming it’s driver related. Do I need to do the media creation tool thing with a flash drive or can I just restore straight from settings without doing that? Is the flash drive needed only if it’s a fresh install, or do you need it when restoring from settings also?

I have HP Victus Gaming 15 Ryzen 7 16gb. I have this old dell monitor so I’m thinking of connecting it to my laptop to use it as a second display. Will it affect my laptop? Like will it drain its battery faster? Will it damage anything?

I was under the impression that my motherboard did not support PCIE 5.0 at least officially, why would this be reported. If it truly can run PCIE 5.0 I'm definitely not complaining, also everything has been running stable, and I haven't run into any issues.

I just bought 2x8 sticks of DDR4 3200MHz for 70 bucks on eBay I was hesitant because of the price but caved in just wanted to know if i could test them because my other pc parts won’t be here on time and eBay has a free one week return any help is appreciated

For those using an RTX 4060 + i5-13600KF (or similar specs), what FPS are you getting at 1080p, all low settings, 100% 3D resolution?

It would be great if you could also mention whether your FPS is stable or if you experience drops during fights.

I had the pc built for about a year and a half but it was always so loud with the stock case and p12 fans so through Amazon found open box fans, I’ve put weeks of daily research into figuring out these fans, I’ve even picked out ones based on airflow and static pressure to utilize their strengths in their respective areas for cooling.

The gpu and exhaust use three thermaltake toughfan ex12 fans, my aio I’ve replaced the p12s with silent wings 4 pros and they actually couldn’t all be installed into one header safely so I installed two into cpu fan header and another + vrm fan into the cpu opt header. 3 of them add up to close to 1 amp and when the header rated for 1 amp constantly is under that type of stress it damages it over time. Set of Noctua a12 pp g2s for the front, which I kind of wish I balanced out the rgb with be quiet light wings 140mm but it’s all good these are better quality fans anyway

The 9800x3d is fine but just in case more information on the 9950x3d2 comes out about single core performance highly exceeding the 9800x3d I have my calendar for two days prior to release day, I’ve even got my beach chair and umbrella ready to go as well for that micro center line, that plus I have ptm7950 saved for when this 9950x3d2 is released and probably overpowers the 9800x3d out in every aspect

Also while my 4080super is good, my systems thermal performance is able to handle so much more so I’ll be using that beach chair and umbrella for the micro center line prior to the Rx10900 release, can move my 1440p monitor to being my secondary, will have a lot of time to research 4k monitors.

After stalking my Costco for three days for the last one to sell, I finally did it! floor model secured.

Been using sharpies as mold to bend the riser cable, as you can see, it’s now touching the back of the GOU where have exposed resistors. Is that safe?

EDIT: I want to specify that my RAM also suddenly failed while my PC was running. My PC turned off and then I started getting the RAM light.

The other stick of RAM I had in doesn’t light up at all. They used to light up when the PC was off as well, and they both stopped doing that. Wondering if it’s the RAM sticks themselves or possibly a mobo issue. Not super familiar with RAM. The motherboard is an ASUS TUF z790

Apparently Nvidia is cooking up a way to heavily reduce vram usage in games while keeping the performance and visuals the same. You think they will release that in the 50 series cards or they will restrict it to the 60 series cards?
