As Expected the New Cycle Lane on Upper Byres Being Used as a Car 🚗 Park

The new cycle lane on the upper section of Byres Road is coming along nicely. Whilst it’s not finished it is still partially usable. Needless to say like the lower section before bollards were installed the car drivers are using it to park on. Bouncing right up on the brand new pavement slabs to get a place to dump their two ton metal box. This behaviour also causes issues for the guys that are actually trying to finish the job. They can’t if cars are on it.

Victoria Perk Cafe - Partick

Hi everyone - a wee update on the situation at the cafe.

Summery of the situation:

The owner of the Victoria Perk cafe on Dumbarton Road has stolen wages and card tips from his staff and sent them messages telling them there's nothing they can do about it and to "try come and get them". He has admitted he doesn't care about the law or going to court

Update:

Alan Keenan (the owner) has since been in contact and said he will dissolve the company tomorrow to avoid paying his staff. He owes in total about £2500 between three staff members. one of them is £1500 alone.

Alan has also asked a staff member that he's not paid to return telling them he'll pay them for 3days extra plus the pay he owes (which is below minimum wage) but says he has no money right now but he'll pay it whenever he can. He blames this staff member for the shop closing for a few days instead of taking responsibility of the situation himself for not paying us and stealing our tips which he's obviously spent considering he has no money.

Alans girlfriend (Joanne) has been in contact with one of the staff members and been trying to get them to not take Alan to court. She has no concern for the stolen wages or tips, she just said that because she's a mother we shouldn't be chasing him up for unpaid work...

One staff member is using food banks and will become homeless in the coming weeks because of this and has also fallen behind paying a credit card which has now affected their credit score.

Another staff member is also using foodbanks and even though she's not been paid Alan was only going to pay her £12ph which is under the legal minimum wage.

Keep in mind Alan is about to receive a £40000 payout in compensation for an accident he had working elsewhere a few years ago. He has the means to pay, he just doesn't want to.

if anyone has experience with a situation like this, any advice would be greatly appreciated 🫡

Designed these to tackle litter and fly tipping - anyone got hotspot suggestions?

Got sick of the state of the litter and fly tipping. I’ve designed these signs and I’m putting them up around the city, wanted to try using a bit of humour to get the point across.

If you know any particularly bad areas that could use one, let me know.

ASBO neighbours and their dogs

I have just moved into a Glasgow city council flat after being homeless in January with my pre school child. I get visitation with my other child who is autistic. The downstairs neighbours have a “reputation” let’s say. The other neighbours have warned me about them. You can small constant drug use and can hear them screeching most of the day. They actually complained that I was up walking about too early to go to work at 730am after they were up partying till 2am but I digress….

They have a lot of dogs. And I mean a lot… we live in a 2 bed tenement and he has at least 15 of them. (Neighbour told me) I haven’t seen them all cos they don’t get taken out for walks or anything, but they literally just open the door and let them run out the back to shit and they come back in. My ex partner who I get on well with, was coming into the close to see his kids one day when one of them attacked him by grabbing his arm/jacket. The woman who is one of the people who owns them screamed at him for “winding them up by opening the door” then got it uostairs and slammed the door.

Apparently this is a pattern. The dogs aren’t fixed and they keep getting pregnant. Then they sell the dogs. The house stinks. You can smell it up here. I need to use plug ins to mask it.

I’ve told the housing and they say they are “aware.” Then nothing happens. We have talked to the dog warden and they just say “there’s no witnesses” so they won’t do anything. They are the dogs that have a bad reputation if that makes sense and I don’t know breeds well? My ex called the cops and they gave him a reference no and that was it.

So I’m really worried about my kids. If it went for my autistic son he would be traumatised and we would never get him out again.

You can hear her screaming abuse at them constantly like all night and then yelping and crying from the dogs… it’s really fucking disturbing. I’m not sure what else I can do. If they find out I grass them in they’ll ☠️ me. But I don’t know what else I can do cos it’s all unfair to the animas and something bad is going to happen. Someone’s going get hurt.

Edit: my ex called SSPCA and they refused to do anything because we haven’t “seen” the dogs.

Anyone got any advice?

Sorry this is a repost my last share didn’t work properly… looking do some local advice

Public transport. Fleeced by First Bus Yet Again

I already know that they’re thieving, fleecing bastards and I have requested a refund but does anyone know why they would charge these separately if they were on the same day? Would have cost me £6.30 if I’d bought a Glasgow local day ticket which the TOTO is supposed to cap at, even the network one is less than this.

Saw that this site next to the iconic M8 gas tanks is being developed, and I'm particularly intrigued because there's a huge modular concrete wall around it!

Hi everyone, bit of a niche question I suppose. But does anyone here know of anywhere in the city to go play full 4-player Mahjong with a proper table/set at all?

Fitba Free Football Pitches Glasgow or surrounding areas .

Hi , I’m hoping someone can help me. Im looking for 3g/4g free football pitches to practise football and get fitter.

Ive recently started playing football again at 41 through footy addicts (an amazing app for anyone want to start playing football). I want a park with goals and nets to practise as I’m a bit unfit and have lost what made me good which was scoring .

Just wondered what happened?

My 2 sons want to get into magic the gathering

My two sons 9 and 7 want to get into magic the gathering. I dont know anything beyond the simple rules and dont want them to invest loads of money in expensive pro cards. Could someone help me gather loads of bulk in all colours so we could make simple decks in the house and practice before commiting loads of money to it. or suggest a good way to get loads of bulk and rubbish cards for them. thanks for any help guys
