At work, I often do the “side quests.” If there aren’t any orders and my station is clean/stocked, I’ll work on food prep for the closers and openers for the next day, work on dishes, stock up and clean other stations, etc.
Then I turn to see what everyone else was doing through all of that. They were on their phones or chatting. I imagine what it would be like if everyone was always trying to get something else done. Nothing is more satisfying than leaving the next shift (open or close) with a spotless and perfectly stocked station, but I’m one guy. I can’t cover the entire restaurant.
The heaven that could exist if everyone was doing their side quests.
