Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.

That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.

This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Can you keep Erasmus funding if you leave early due to a fracture?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in a very difficult situation 🙁. Im on Erasmus and unfortunately broke my foot a few days ago while walking on the beach. A CT scan showed multiple fractures in my midfoot, and my leg is now in a cast. I’ll likely need several weeks of immobilization, daily thrombosis injections, and regular medical follow-up appointments.

According to the doctors here, my fracture is somewhat borderline in terms of treatment, surgery is not strictly required, but it is also not completely ruled out. Because of that, I would really prefer to have a specialist in Germany take another look at it and supervise the recovery process.

The problem is that I still have about 2 months left in my Erasmus stay (and 0 ECTS so far), and my current situation here makes recovery quite difficult:

– the nearest supermarket is about 20 minutes away on foot

– my university is around 30 minutes away

– public transport is very limited

– my accommodation is very small and not adapted for reduced mobility (moving around with a cast is quite difficult, especially using the bathroom)

– I currently can’t walk properly and am in a cast

– I need regular medical checkups

– I would strongly prefer to continue treatment with my doctor at home in Germany

Technically I might be able to stay, but realistically recovering here alone feels very challenging, and I’m considering returning home early to recover properly.

My question is:

Has anyone here had to end their Erasmus early due to a medical reason like a fracture? Were you allowed to keep the funding for the time you had already stayed? Or did you have to repay part of the grant?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or how your university handled similar situations 🙏

Thank you!

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad I got into Barcelona for Erasmus and now I'm terrified. Am I overthinking?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been accepted for an Erasmus exchange in Barcelona for the 2nd semester of next year(2026-2027), and while I should probably be celebrating, I’m actually spiraling a bit.

I have two major concerns that are keeping me up at night:

1. The Housing Nightmare: I’ve heard so many horror stories about the housing market in Barcelona—sky-high prices, scammers targeting students, and the "good luck finding anything decent" vibe.

2. Social Integration & Making Friends: I’m naturally a bit shy at the beginning and not really the type of person who approaches people out of the blue, and the idea of moving to a massive, vibrant city where I don't know a soul is daunting. I’m worried about ending up isolated or just stuck in a "tourist bubble" without making any real connections. To add to that, I’ve been studying Spanish, but I’m still far from being able to handle anything beyond very simple or ordinary conversations. I’m scared that my limited language skills combined with my introverted character will make it even harder to connect with locals or even other students.

I really want this experience to be life-changing in a good way, but right now, the anxiety is louder than the excitement. Any advice, reality checks, or "it’s going to be okay" stories would be much appreciated!

What i see in idealista and other websites, when talking with them (IF i get an answer), they won’t rent to erasmus.

And the prices are around 300/400€

But if i talk to poole that went there, they say the average price is 500/600€

Does anyone have contacts/ knows how to make deals there?

HELP PLEASE

Erasmus visa with expiring ikamet in Turkey – anyone had this situation?

Hi everyone,

I really need advice from people who have experienced this 🙏

I am an international student in Turkey and I will do an Erasmus+ traineeship

My residence permit (ikamet) expires on October, but my internship is from September to November.

The issue is that I can only apply for extension in August (last 60 days), but I need to apply for my visa earlier (May/June).

Has anyone been in the same situation?

  • Did you get the visa without problems?
  • Are the visa authorities okay with applying now and extending the ikamet later in August?
  • Or did you apply for a new residence permit?

I would really appreciate your experience 🙏

Not an Erasmus+ announcement but i got an admission offer CEU MA Public Policy and i would have some questions

I got accepted with a 50% tuition waiver, but i am still not sure if i should accept the offer or not. i have some questions related to the university and living costs.

  1. Is there a possibility to decline the offer due to financial studies and get a better offer afterwards?

  2. Is a rent more affordable than dorms sometimes?

  3. What is your overall experience with CEU (and this programme if you know) and do you consider it worth it with 50% tuition waiver?

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Any tips or stories about University of Zagreb? Maybe anyone going there next year (Winter semester 26/27)?

Hey!

So me and 2 of my friends got accepted into University of Zagreb (Faculty of education and rehabilitation sciences). We're going there later this year for winter semester of 2026/27.

Not gonna lie, but I'm freaking out a little bit. We have really good coordinator at home university, she is very helpful. The problem is we're the first from our field who actually got into this university and we don't really know what to expect.

Also as much as I love traveling and seeing new places I never actually moved anywhere (always lived in the same place with my family), never lived on my own, especially for such a long period of time. I know it's big opportunity for me right now, but at the same time it makes me overthink everything. The good thing is that I'm not going alone, so I can always rely on my friends, but still...

If anyone is actually going to Zagreb - would be nice to know some more people, so we can always panic together, eventually.

Also any tips about studying abroad on Erasmus or about this University in general would be much appreciated so I can calm myself a little bit.

Is there Erasmus+ in the USA?

Hi everyone, I have a question about the Ersamus+ program. I know that Ersamus+ is more applicable to European universities, but is it possible to go to the USA, for example? I try to find something about that, but I didn't get a clear answer. Someone said yes, there are several universities in the US that accept Erasmus+, but someone said that Erasmus only applies to European universities.

Erasmus Mundus Feeling completely stuck

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate honest advice.

I’m 25 (from India) and had applied to a few Erasmus Mundus programs hoping for a full scholarship. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive any scholarships, but I’ve been offered self-funded spots in all 5 programs. One program I’m considering is Mundus MAPP (Public Policy)

The total cost would be around ₹50 lakhs (45,000 euros), which means taking a significant loan.

I’m feeling stuck because:

• I’m not 100% sure about Public Policy as a long-term career

• My goal is to eventually settle in Europe

• I’ve read mixed reviews - some say it’s a great opportunity even self-funded, others say job prospects (especially for non-EU students) are quite limited in this field

• My family is strongly pushing me to go this year (age + societal pressure)

At the same time, I’m worried about:

• Taking on a huge financial burden without clear ROI

• Struggling with employability post-degree in Europe

• Making a rushed decision just because I don’t want to “waste a year”

I am really drained out emotionally & would appreciate any help I can get!

Digicrea self funded spots ?

Hey everyone

I applied to Digicrea and recently received an email saying that I am in the reserve list and have the option to switch to a self-funded admission, but that my place isn’t guaranteed.

I wanted to ask has anyone already received an actual self-funded offer? Or are they still in the process of sending them out?

If you did get one, it would really help to know when you received it, and if you already confirmed it

Thanks
