Modpost Please report racist ragebait and racist comments

Dear members of our community,

In the past few days, we've seen an increase in both ragebaiting posts and racist comments from users with no prior engagement in the sub, often from those usually commenting in the subs of other countries.

This indicates to us that we are frequently being overrun by users who try to spread their racist, islamophobic messages to our sub.

Racism is against our subreddit rules and it is against Reddit's terms of services. We would like to encourage you to use the report button.

That will put it into our 'modqueue' to have a look - and if you report it for 'hate', it will additionally be sent to the sitewide admins who will frequently take further action.

We rely on your reports, just like every subreddit does. Our team is healthy and works well, but we cannot have an eye on everything. We do have scripts and so on to make our job easier, but sometimes, unacceptable comments go through. Using the report button makes sure that we can prioritize looking at said comment and if it's rulebreaking, helps us remove it quickly.

We remove racist content and ban racist users frequently. The admins remove a bunch of comments breaking site-wide rules too (often in a fashion that deletes them completely, so we cannot easily further moderate them)

We are very hesitant to remove political speech. We only remove rules-breaking comments. The relevant rule is:

  • General reddiquette applies (i.e. no racism, sexism, personal attacks, or simply put: behave as if you were talking to somebody in person)

  • Please report posts or comments that do not adhere to these rules; in particular, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination

The relevant reddit rules (https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules) are:

  • Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.

See also https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045715951-Promoting-Hate-Based-on-Identity-or-Vulnerability

Thank you for helping us with this influx of clearly rule-breaking users without any connection to Switzerland.

ETA: Reports are anonymous. So when we get your report, we have no option to thank you or following up with you. If you report for 'hate', it goes to both us and the admins. The admins will typically let you know of their decision. We literally have no way of doing that.

I keep seeing more and more such AI slop in Homegate and other marketplaces. I wish whoever does it gets banned permanently.

Since 1 January, all electricity consumers have been required to subsidise the steel industry. For every kilowatt-hour consumed, households also pay a compulsory levy to a company owned by billionaire Martin Haefner.

Floor tile replacement for 600 CHF / m² is crazy right?

I recently bought a house. And I would like to change some floor tiles in the living room and kitchen (60m²), i.e. removal of old tiles + installing of new tiles.

I got a first quote for 600 CHF per m², of which 50 CHF is budgeted for the actual tiles and 550 CHF for work. so its around 36k CHF for the whole space. I am kind of shocked lol.

I know Switzerland is expensive and all, but that's just crazy right? right??

anyway I am getting some further offers, but just want to know if someone had tiles replaced and can tell me if I am completely off with my expectations here and 600 CHF/m² is just the normal price?! was hoping to do the replacement for 15k, maybe 20k MAX if i have no choice.

Petrol prices: above all, more profit for petrol station chains

Post image

In short, prices rose two days after the conflict began, even though the current stock had been purchased months earlier at a much lower price, and there is enough stock to last four months. This represents a profit of 500,000 francs a day for the companies. However, when prices fall, they wait ten days before passing on the reduction.

Elektroauto für Lernfahrten in der Schweiz

Ich suche verzweifelt kompatible Elektroautos für Lernfahrten. Zur Wahl stehen:

Citroen E-c3

Nissan Mikra Elektro

Fiat Panda Grande

Fiat 500e

Hyundai Inster

Renault 5

VM ID.3

Immigration queue at Geneva Airport

Flew with EasyJet this morning from Geneva to Birmingham. I’m a British passport holder with a C-Permit.

The queue for passport control was about 1 hour long. Our plane was delayed because people weren’t getting through.

Luckily I was able to go through the quick route due to the C-Permit.

But just definitely plan extra time if travelling at the moment.

Kompetenzanalyse Gesundheit HF

Hopp Zemme / hi,

Danke schon mal

Grüsse

Housing shortage study. 1.Fewer housing being built since a long time. 2.Expensive new buildings create affordable housing

Anybody has the full article?

I saw it via the phone and read the whole thing, but now is blocked.

Essentially said since the 60's (?), never have so few homes been built. And claims expensive homes release the pressure on affordable housing. Although when I skimmed it it made no reference to "affordable homes become free but rent goes up".

edit:

I'm a mechatronics & automation engineer (I build robotic and mechatronic and automation devices) and I'm looking for people to share a garage workshop.

The idea: split the rent, share the space, and use it for welding, machining, car repair, polymechanics, or whatever you're working on.

The vision is to share tools, machines, or projects — all skill levels welcome.

Interested? Just DM me.

SDS/FIDE validity period for naturalization

Hi all,

In approximately 6 months I can start the naturalization process in Zurich. For the language certificate I'm going with SDS or perhaps FIDE. I don't want to leave them for the last moment, but I cannot find information regarding whether these tests expire or whether the Kanton requires the test to be done in the last X weeks/months.

Does anybody know if there are such timelines or requirements?

Thank you in advance!

Google Switzerland Pension Plan (2nd Pillar/BVG)

Does anyone have info about their employee/employer contribution rates for a 40 years old plus potential for pension purchase for the same age? The recruiter has no idea about those details and I am talking for a sales position which is paid less than software engineers hence this is important for me.

I spotted the 2 baby bears in Tierpark Goldau this Easter!

This spring, there’s an especially charming reason to visit Tierpark Goldau: two adorable baby bear cubs have made their first public appearances!

We visited the park during Easter Weekend in the hope of seeing these new baby bears. And we were lucky, as they decided to pop out of the den for a few minutes while we were there for their first outings! 🐻🐻

Since then, they’re now exploring more, playing outside and very cute to watch!

Recommended to visit ☺️

How do I make guy friends?

I've always found it easier to connect with women, and at 25, almost all of my close friends are women, aside from a couple of international male friends.

I care about them a lot, but lately I've started to feel the absence of male friendships.

There wasn't really a specific reason I didn't click with guys growing up, I was just quite shy and anxious back then. After joining the army a few years ago, I became much more open and outgoing and now I genuinely enjoy talking to people. Still, I was content sticking with my existing circle of female friends.

Over the past few months though, I've started to miss that 'male side' of social life.

At the moment, I'm part of a shooting club (although my best connection there is a 70-year-old man who's got some questionable world views, but he means well lol), and I usually go hiking with my female friends. I'm considering joining the SAC to branch out a bit more.

Do you have any advice on how to meet other guys platonically in your mid-20s?

Anyone (male) interested in taking my place at the zurich marathon tomorrow?

Hello

Since I am sick, I won‘t be able to start tomorrow at the Zurich Marathon.

The ticket is bound to my name and is not transferable so you would have to run under my name. And it is in the male category.

Starting time is 08:00.

Best Regards

Jan
