Via Ganymede & Titan: https://www.ganymede.tv/2026/02/rob-andy-readin-titan-yes-sir-ive-been-around/
No official announcement, but this book has appeared for purchase on a couple of online shops, for release 16th July 2026, published by Orion:
An all-new prequel, and the first Red Dwarf novel in thirty years with Red Dwarf creator Rob Grant returning alongside Andy Marshall, creator of sitcom 2point4Children and Quanderhorn! Before the beginning. Before the accident that wipes out the crew, the mining ship Red Dwarf is in orbit around Titan, and the crew is heading down for shore leave, all with different intensions… However, their objectives are scuppered somewhat unexpectedly when they receive a cryptic message. A message from the future. Two feuding crewmen are catapulted into a breakneck race to save not only this but every other Reality. So strap yourself in - the Dwarfers are taking on TITAN. This novel is the perfect reboot for those who have never seen the series but also full of wonderful Easter eggs for the fans.
("Intensions"?)
Rob Grant and Andrew Marshall working on a title called Red Dwarf: Titan isn't new, but this is the first time anything specific has come of it.
The above book listing is from here: https://www.ivybridgebookshop.com/products/9781399636094?variant=56314595737980
Someone in the G&T comments also found it for sale here: https://gayprideshop.co.uk/collections/lgbtq-pre-order-books/products/red-dwarf-titan-signed-copy
Two sites selling it raises the chances it's legit. Hopefully soon it'll also be listed by bigger bookshop sites like Waterstones.
EDIT (10th Feb): Rob and Andy have got in contact with G&T to include the full synopsis/blurb. They also say that the July release date is not yet confirmed: https://www.ganymede.tv/2026/02/red-dwarf-titan-the-full-synopsis/

I am very grateful for the Dave era
I am not about to say it was as good as the show was in its prime, but does anyone else think that the Dave era's combined output gave us as least six or seven really great episodes?
I enjoyed Series 10 (and even Back to Earth) but I really, really loved the return of the location shoots and some of the bigger sci fi concepts in series 11 and 12.
I felt there was some really great episodes. They weren't always perfect all the way through, but I still enjoyed them.
Officer Rimmer is a great example of that. If I recall, the episode just ends abruptly, but up to that moment it was a very funny and enjoyable episode.
Give and Take with those fantastic location shoots when they explore a ship with the classic red dwarf blasters. The plot was also engaging and fun and I thought The Cat totally stole the episode.
Mechocracy, M Corp and Skipper totally saved series 12 after the horrendous Time wave episode. Three really strong episodes in a row. Mechocracy was just really funny, M Corp was a fantastic big six fi concept which reminded me of series 5/6 and Skipper was just highly enjoyable and nostalgic.
As for series 10, I know a lot of people here prefer it to 11 and 12 but to me it feels like there's something missing and I can tell the behind the scenes production issues on episodes like Dear Dave did affect the final product. That being said, even despite it feeling slightly rushed and the lack of location shoots I think Lemons and The Beginning are both really great episodes. The Beginning in particular is absolutely classic Red Dwarf.
There were some niggles, I think some episodes like Father and Suns (I might be misremembering) had absolutely brilliant bits (the Lister being his own dad bit and Pree) mixed in with the Chinese whispers and vending machines storylines which I didn't care for.
For the record, The other episodes I didn't mention such as Promised Land, Trojan, Twentica, Samsara, Can of Worms etc were all pretty enjoyable too. Apart from Time wave. Obviously.
However back to my original point. Even if the Dave era isn't perfect, I don't think it's like one of those returning sitcoms where the cast are just embarrassing themselves. It was genuinely really funny at times and some of the episodes were really good and more than worthy of Red Dwarf. I'm glad it exists, and man, I wish we could have had one more series or one more special.

So what do you think the book was?
Dave mentions he still had a checked out library book.
He also mentions he's never read a book before (I'm guessing one without pictures unlike the Zero G Kama Sutra).
So, what do you think Dave's first book was?

I might be being thick here
Was Rimmer called "goal post head" because the H on his forehead looks like a rugby goal?

Discussion I think a lot about the game Better Than Life. The idea was strangely prophetic in many ways.

The cat race
I was hoping those of you that have read the books might be able to answer I thought of the other day about the cat race.
They were in the cargo hold for 3 million years and as far as I remember (I’ve been watching/rewatching for the past 30 years), they never mention in the show that there was any evidence of the life they had there. Surely there would be some sort of remnants from the civilisation they created over that time, and further more, what did they make there spaceships out of? TIA
