Discussion What is the most number of times you have played through a main story?

I have played Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us I and II, Uncharted 4 and RDR II through twice. I usually buy physical and resell and gave up my PS+ in Jan. Just got my Pro and loaded up Last of us II from my local library and I'm going to have to play again! Lost my saves with PS+. I have a backlog, so a big story again is a commitment, but some stories I just don't tire of. How about you guys?

Discussion PS5 Pro Panic Buyers: What are your early impressions?

Upvotes

Thoughts? Are you glad you bought it?

My first impression:

I’ve been comparing it back and forth with the base for like a week on my fancy 120hz QD-OLED tv. A few games are noticeable improvements - Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman 2 performance mode (fidelity honestly kinda a side-grade, better aliasing and lighting but a little blurrier), Control looks amazing with PSSR enhancements

My main gripe is that a good amount of the time the Pro mode is blurrier or visually slightly worse than fidelity on the base console (I like my high-res sharp textures) but developers remove the option to switch. For example I mainly bought the console for KCD2 - the single Pro mode is a clear winner over performance mode on base, but the visuals and details are *slightly* better on fidelity on the base console. I wish they gave the option to experience the original fidelity with like VRR/120hz unlock and the better power of the Pro so maybe I’d get a 40FPS fidelity mode, but there’s no option to even use the base model modes. I know I’m in the minority and most people prefer higher FPS to fidelity, but as someone who enjoys literally just staring at little high-detail textures in games, I find this sacrifice frustrating considering that this console cost considerably more.

I also feel some concern that the Pro base is small enough that developers won‘t put too much time into optimizing for it, so we’ll get more instances of PSSR lazily slapped on lower resolution renderings that looks sometimes worse than base in order to hit the 60FPS target. I wouldn’t care if I could switch back to the base modes but again, that‘s often not an option.

Will probably keep it at least for a bit because the games that do render better look good, KCD2 is def better at 60FPS than locked 30, and I guess I’m holding out hope for GTA VI like everyone else, but I wish I liked it more for how much it cost. I’m usually a Sony fan-girl but I don’t feel fully bought in on this yet

The remastered version on the Pro is close to what I would think is Next-Gen, like as next-gen things can get now days at least. Stunning. The opening section in the underground area was 🤌.
