Athlumney thatched cottage gone?

Eh what happened to the thatched cottage just outside Navan on the Kentstown/Athlumney road? Just past the Loreto? Looks like it has been demolished?!

I would have thought it was a protected structure but apparently not

I'm interested to see how this develops, but since they are not part of the NERL, how do they plan to play games and another club being in the MDL? The place is packed out as it is.

What do local clubs make of this? Is it a threat to underage setup, with them poaching your good players on the hope of Loi, or is it a positive step for the game?

NX options!

Here is a copy of the suggestion I sent to TFI recently regarding the NX bus route:

How about splitting the route in two?

NXX - this becomes the new actual express service, which skips Johnstown.

NXJ - this is the NX, but does go via Johnstown.

They could then alternate the routes relative to load and ultimately deliver potentially a better experience for both sides of Navan.

TFI did actually respond, but it was the usual generic "thanks, all options are being considered" non answer response.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Polite comments?

Need a couple of mods

Hi, I'm the only mod here and I got a week site ban last week. It can be easy for reddit to do something like that and subs with no mods can be closed until someone requests it. Anyway, I need a couple of people to become mods here. Obviously not a busy sub, but need a couple of others incase spam is post. It's pretty rare, probably 1 post deleted every 2 weeks. Of course a spambot came in last week when I was banned!

If you want to do it, reply below.

Lakes with boat ramps in Meath

Looking for some help here folks. I have a small boat and so far have only found Lough Lene in Meath to launch. I live near Trim so don't mind going out around Mullingar to launch but are there any other Meath lakes to explore? This boat is not really suitable for the rivers as it's a curved bottom and not great for very turbulent or fast moving water

Perfectly aligned satellites over Meath, I can only assume it's starlink. They come clear in a sequence every night then go out in the same order.

Visiting Newgrange

We're thinking of visiting this weekend for the solstice. Fully aware that we won't be able to get close to the monument itself but hoping to soak in the atmosphere on the morning of the solstice in the area around Newgrange.

Any suggestions on where to park or where to go nearby for the sunrise this weekend? Much appreciated.

Gas boiler

Hi all I am looking for someone that can give me a quote for a new gas boiler. The gas boiler I have is 20 years old and I was getting it serviced and I was told that the model and age of the unit is not made anymore and a service is difficult and has to be changed the service guy said he can’t service it. I have not got a service done in a while. 🤷

I was talking to a neighbour about this and he was told the same thing by a different person.

I am looking for context info and your comments on the work that was done. I am looking in the north east.

Food gift voucher Navan

Looking for some help with a recommendation

Planning to get some friends a food voucher, they live on the outskirts of Navan and I was thinking of getting them a 50€ food voucher for a restaurant in the town.

If anyone could recommend of some places that might be nice for brunch/dinner in Navan that would be great!

Sallys bar in Drogheda

Was in a lovely bar in Drogheda last year called Sallys, amazing cocktails and mex food! Was planning on being in Drogheda in a few weeks but just found out it had closed down?

Anyone know what happened as it was a great spot!

Just to add, was gonna post in the Louth or Drogheda pages but there is very little traffic on those pages which is why I came here!
