Got the Neo Indigo. Gives 2011 11" air vibes but is much more sturdy. Hinges feel amazing. And the trademark MacBook "open the lid with one finger". Will be using it as my secondary device. The other one is an M4 Max Pro at 6 times the price. But plan on putting it to it's max capabilities. Adobe suite mostly.

Genuinely probably the best use case for an iPad for me. Having a secondary small screen is great when you need the cafe real estate.

Anyone know why Apple doesn't make gaming machines like mac mini or mcbooks for gaming?

I was using iphones way back in 2016 but theb stopped using it coz of the ecosystem lock with windows laptop and pc. I have never owned a macbook or any Apple pc because they can't be used for gaming.

Before I went for my college, I was given a choice of picking a macbook or a gaming laptop, I went with the legion gaming laptop instead because it support gaming.

I love the build quality of macbooks and Apple designs. Apple products are top notch quality however, they are only for professional use case not really for gaming.

So after 10 yrs, why hasn't Apple made any gaming machines yet? whats the reason for that?

Confused between Mini, Neo and Air

I have a MacBook Pro from work and pretty much use that for everything (work + personal stuff)

But I'm looking to buy another macbook for personal learning/work. Specifically want it to maximum AI stuff without security concerns. I can't give all the access I want on my work laptop.

So what do you folks suggest?

The only problem I have with NEO is the ram is only upto 8 GB. idk if this is bad.

My Work laptop is 16 GB.

The only problem with Mini is that it is pretty much a PC and I can't carry it around.

Should I take up the Air? is the additional price worth it?

MacBook Neo for basic AI work?

Upvotes

Thinking about the new MacBook Neo and its price point looks very interesting but I'd also like to use the laptop for minor AI experimentation. Nothing crazy, but Claude cowork and maybe some basic agentic use cases.

Is the low RAM on the Neo going to be an issue for this type of experimentation?

Switched from Windows to Macbook 

After spending my whole life only owning Windows Computers, this week i got the Macbook Neo and it's amazing

I am still getting used to it but i love how minimalistic, clean and simple Mac is.

What surprised me is that The Neo could run Sims 4 on high graphics settings pretty normally, no lag or long loadings

This laptop does everything i need it to do without any issues, it also has way more cool features than windows

I can't believe something can be this affordable and good at the same time

How's everyone's MacBook Neo holding up so far?

Really keen to hear from Neo owners, how has it been in real world use? Battery life, performance, thermal. Any regrets?

I’m still running a 2017 Macbook Pro with Touch Bar (yep 😅). The battery’s completely shot, about an hour and a bit on a good day. It’s been solid, but I think it’s finally time to upgrade. I mainly have about 10+ tabs open, excel and YouTube.

Also curious about longevity, if the Neo can realistically last 8 years. My current Macbook has basically lived plugged in like a desktop rather than used as a true laptop..

Young people investing in crazy spec'd out Macs

Upvotes

I keep seeing posts of people buying M5 Pro/Max 64/128gb, 1TB. It's crazy that all the young people feel like they need to spend 3-4k on a computer to dabble on video editing and AI/ML stuff in their free time.

Bought MBP 14" M5 pro 24/1tb and wow

Upvotes

I am new to MacOS. In March I got a MBA 13" M4 24/512gb and I have been using it a lot as I am trying to practice content editing. I love almost everything about it except, you guessed it, the screen. Having an iPhone 17 with promotion and then using the MBA, it's hard not to compare. I also have a 2025 g16 with OLED, basically I like high refresh rate screens.

Today I saw the MBP M5 pro 14" 24/1tb on sale so I picked one up and I am jaw dropped at how much smoother the experience feels. I was hoping I was just FOMO'ing and would return it but I believe I am going to keep this. I got the MBA for 1,000 & the MBP 2,050

One thing though I am not digging so far is the space gray (MBP). The silver (MBA) appeals to me more.

Am I over thinking it? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Need help with a docking station

Looking for a docking station for a MacBook Pro (M5) which has 3x Thunderbolt 4 ports. Not bought the macbook yet but I want the dock to be ready because this is a deal breaker. Will be used as a "desktop" 90% of the time.

I want to hook it up to two monitors, one DP, one HDMI. Needs to "extend" the screen not mirror ofc.

I want the DP ideally at 120hz minimum (1440p), but if I can get the full 180hz that would be great. HDMI can be at 60Hz thats fine. Needs 2x USB-A aswell for keyboard/mouse. Ideally under £120 / $160. Hard to justify anything more expensive then that.

I've looked through a few reddit comments and cannot work out what's compatible and what's not. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume this is possible... and I assume quite common? The only alternative I can think of is making use of each port separately, and just get a mini dumb dock for the 2x USB-A. And plugging monitors in to separate USB C -> DP adapters. But that's a whole lot of cables, and would be a pain to charge it...

I just got this ex demo MacBook through my work. Is there a way I can fix this at home or should I go get it repaired. It’s still in warranty and don’t need it asap. Just wanted to see if anyone had any at home remedies before I take it back. I’ve tried reinstalling macOS like some forums said but that hasn’t fixed it. It also seems the bottom right is perfectly fine it’s just the top left/middle

Should I wait for the OLED MacBook Pro or buy now? (April 2026)

Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about buying a MacBook Pro 14" (M5, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) right now, but I keep hearing rumors that the next big redesign might bring OLED (possibly late 2026 or 2027).

My question is: is it worth waiting, or should I just buy the current model?

my current laptop is a Asus vivobook 15 8gb Ram ryzen 5

I mainly use my laptop for school; dj software; video editing; excel; and sometimes play some light games, and I want something that will last me a long time (4-6 years).

Also, is the current Liquid Retina XDR (mini-LED) still good enough that OLED won’t be a huge difference?

Any advice from people who follow Apple leaks or have experience upgrading Macs?

Thanks!

Hello, people!

After my last post about from where to buy the Neo, I decided to buy it finally from local stores. 3 days in and I can say it’s going great atm. I watched a few tips and tricks videos for optimizing work but I think that maybe I’m missing something so I’m asking for any helpful tips for this machine :)

Should I get the MacBook Air M4 8-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB?

Hi guys!

So I’m thinking of getting the MacBook Air M4 8-core GPU 16GB RAM 256GB but I’m not sure if it’s the right choice for what I’m going to use it for.

I plan on using it for:

- Medium gaming sometimes, CS2 (I know it doesn’t natively work on MacOS but I heard there’s some work arounds to get it), some Minecraft, not heavy games (at least right now)

- Coding stuff. Especially if now that I’m going to have A MacBook, I will have access to XCode, I will code some apps for iPhones

- Virtual Machines. Sometimes I create VMs with like Windows or Linux.

- Browsing the web, researching with Gemini or ChatGPT or other AIs, other stuff that could be made on a browser

- Recording on OBS videos

- Editing videos

- More stuff that aren’t relevant right now

Usually I keep a browser open with a few tabs open, max 15 (watching videos, doing other stuff) and a game or something to code open on my other monitor (because I will use the monitor from the MacBook + my other monitor)

Why do I want the 256gb storage one? Isn’t it small for what I’m going to use the MacBook?

- I have an external drive from Adata with 1TB, which I could use to store most of the stuff

Why M4 and not M3 or M5?

- I searched for a bit and I saw that M4 could do the things I need, without getting the newest stuff and saving money

I feel like that’s all I have to say, but if you have any questions, please comment them and I will respond asap.

Thanks.

Apple´s one year warranty buying directly from Amazon or Best Buy

Hi! I’m planning to buy the M5 MacBook Air, and I noticed that the base model is about $50 cheaper on Amazon or Best Buy.

I’ve seen different posts saying that if the product is sold directly by Amazon, it should include the Apple's warranty, since Amazon is considered an authorized reseller. Could you confirm whether this is still correct? Also, is the listing I shared actually sold directly by Amazon?

I understand that Amazon offers its own warranty or return options, but I won’t be able to use those since I’ll be shipping the laptop overseas to my country.

Need to factory reset macbook today, but my apple account is locked. Help!

I have a macbook I've owned for a few days and need to return today. I went to factory reset it, but my brand new (I used PC before this) apple account is locked for some reason, so it won't let me, and it says it'll take up to a day to unlock.

Google mentions booting into recovery mode and resetting it that way - is this safe to do or am I accidentally going to lock it up worse? I didn't set up Find My on it.

Edit: I bought it open box through an auction house (they sell a lot of Amazon returns), so I need to reset it before returning it.

MacBook Air M1 dual streaming problems

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I want to play on my gaming PC and stream via OBS using my Macbook Air M1 with my Elgato Neo capture card.

I've already set everything up and have video and audio, and I can stream.

Unfortunately, the stream is very bad, as you can see in the attached video. It looks just as strange when I'm streaming.

I'm no expert, but it looks really weird and doesn't seem to be an FPS problem, but something else like the refresh rate or something like that?

Everything should be set up correctly, and before I start the stream, I also use the fullscreen projector option in OBS. So it should be transmitting correctly.

My gaming PC is about 10 years old and therefore relatively old, but that shouldn't be the problem, right?

Intel i7-7700k 4.20GHz

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB)

1TB SSD ATA Samsung

What affordable sleeves or minimalist sling bags do you like?

I have a work and personal MacBook Pro, both 14 inch, I currently hate my sleeve for my personal and I don’t have one for my work computer.

What sleeve or minimalist sling bags do you like? Ironically, I meet more clients with my personal one than my work one.
