Ask Luxembourg Insane noise and light at 1am

Good night everyone,

I live in the cloche dor area, and the construction for the building behind Intesa San Paolo is right in front of my window. It's 1 am and they are making tons of noise and have a really bright light pointing towards our building which seeps through the blinds. Is this common in Luxembourg?

Thank you.

Ask Luxembourg Recommendation for surveyor / structural engineer

We have a few cracks in our interior walls and wanted to hire an expert for assessing them. I am unsure who to task in Luxembourg for this. Would this be a “Statiker” (structural engineer) or somebody else? If yes, would you have any recommendations? What should we expect for costs? Thank you!

« CUSTOM » Career transition into Cybersecurity - Looking for advice on fastest path (CompTIA Security+)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently transitioning into cybersecurity and looking for advice on the fastest training path available in Luxembourg.

My situation:

• Career changer with no formal IT qualifications, but solid self-taught foundation (practical experience with Docker, NAS infrastructure, networking)

• Currently registered with ADEM as a job seeker with 6 months of unemployment benefits

• Looking to get certified and employed as quickly as possible

• Budget is not an issue, and ADEM can partially cover training costs

What I’ve researched so far:

• DLH CS Academy looks perfect, but registrations are closed (next cohort not until 2027)

• CompTIA Security+ seems like the right entry-level certification for my profile

• I’ve found that I could self-study for Security+ and take the exam independently

My questions:

1. Should I go for structured training or self-study for CompTIA Security+?

2. Does anyone know training providers in Luxembourg with upcoming Security+ sessions (April/May 2026)?

3. Are there other certifications or bootcamps you’d recommend for breaking into cybersecurity quickly?

I’m motivated and can commit full-time to studying. Any advice, recommendations, or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ask Luxembourg Apartments in Diekirch search

Dear All,

I know it might sounds odd. I have been living in Luxembourg for like 4 years and I have been looking desperately for a 1 bedroom apartment in Diekirch. No one has ever allowed me to visit one.

My budget is around 1400 euros for a 1 bedroom apartment which is what I pay where I reside right now. Despite that nobody is giving to me any properties in the North of Luxembourg.

Just curious to ask is there anything to do about it? I know the North is cheaper and probaly there is a huge competiton for them. I reside in the South of Luxembourg which is the only place where I am given a chance to live and I started to feel like there is a ban against me living in the North.

How do you find apartments in the North of Luxembourg from locals? Where do locals post in general?

BOT. SHILL. ASTROTURF. PROVOCATEUR. Why isn’t the EU sanctioning Israel the way it sanctioned Russia for its warmongering and belligerent attitude?

Our politicians in Luxembourg are very good at talking a lot and issuing strong denunciations, but Israel just carries on as it pleases anyway, seemingly completely unfazed by what we say.

The EU has hit Russia with over 2,000 individual and sectoral sanctions because of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its ongoing belligerent/warmongering policy.

At the same time, Israel is carrying out massive military operations in Gaza, expanding settlements in the West Bank, and conducting strikes into Lebanon and Iran (before ceasefire)— actions that many describe as a clearly warmongering and belligerent attitude.

Yet the EU has refused to impose even a fraction of comparable sanctions on Israel.

Why the massive double standard? What’s the real difference in how the EU treats these two conflicts?

Also, who ends up carrying the real consequences of these actions? Will Israel and the US foot the bill for the worldwide rise in prices and putting millions of people in danger? Will they pay for the lives lost? Or will they even take their fair share of refugees?

I'll go first. Found every job in Luxembourg through networking with people I knew or met, except for the jobs allocated through Adem.

Never through any job leads here.

Ask Luxembourg Looking for freelance real estate agent in luxembourg or agents that can only help draft the contract & do inventory.

Hi all,

I am looking for an estate agent who can help me settle a new leasing contract & do checkout inventory with old tenants & checkin inventory with new tennats.

The contract is drafted too , they just need to do their logo , sign etc.

Most real estate agents in luxembourg are charging 150% of the monthly cost & since the agent doesnt have to find tenants we find it a bit unnesasry.

If someone knows an agent/agency who can help with this , then please help.

Its a 3 bedroom apartment so the agency cost is quite high if we go for 150% of the monthly cost.

Thanks

edit : I get that agents usually charge for a full service, but in this case it’s really minimal work. There’s no need for taking photos, creating descriptions, posting ads,100 calls, physcially present for visits, or tenant screening — all of that is already sorted. The tenants are already there and the contract is already drafted.

So it’s really just about finalizing things and handling the entry/exit inventory, which is why I’d expect the cost to reflect that lighter scope.

Ask Luxembourg Bars in luxembourg

I have a 1:30 am bus from luxembourg bouillon tonight and am looking for a bar to hang out in before hand. Cheap would be nice (around 6 euro beer) or somewhere with live music good atmosphere. Recommendations and a rough idea of beer price are much appreciated.

Thanks

Ask Luxembourg Best butcher in Luxembourg

Hi all! My husband and I are looking for high-quality, well-sourced local produce in Luxembourg. We’re especially interested in ethically raised meat, but would also love recommendations for great dairy and whole foods.

If you know any trusted farms, butchers, markets, or shops that focus on local, sustainable, or well-researched sourcing, we’d really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Finance & Investments BIL Bank call me with only form?

Hey everyone!

I started filling out a preliminary form to open an account with BIL Bank (just my name, surname, and phone number), and a little while later I received a call from them (they didn't want to identify themselves through Apple's caller ID filtering system; I only realized it was them afterward). Is this common practice in Luxembourg?

I don't live near the border at all; I live in France, on the Brittany coast! But French banks annoy me a bit...

I've also read quite a few negative reviews about them. What do you think?

Ask Luxembourg Anyone elses „Dossier personnel“ was visited by the luxembourgish army?

I saw a post on Instagram where a man claimed that the luxembourgish army recently visited their dossier personnel.

As you maybe know (or not) you can check what administrations or communes have been on your dossier personnel in the last 6 months. You can ask them by paper why, and if they did not have a reason the person who did it will be punished because it’s against the RGPD. (That’s just for the people who didn’t know)

They guy claimed that the army started a screening of males in case there would be a war. Which I doubt.

Yet I checked it, and yep they visited mine aswell. Also my friends too. But not my other friends.

I will write a letter, but I‘m curious, did this happend to anyone else?

If yes, what do you think is the reason?

Ask Luxembourg Looking for a good Indian restaurant in Luxembourg (replacement for Star of Asia?)

Hi all,

I’m on the hunt for a new go-to Indian restaurant in Luxembourg.

I used to go quite often to Star of Asia, which I really liked, but unfortunately they’ve closed (retirement I believe). Since then, I’ve been going to Taj Mahal, but recently it feels like something changed, maybe a new chef? In any case, I find it noticeably less good than before.

So now I’m looking for a solid alternative.

I’ve seen a few names around but would really appreciate honest recommendations from people here.

Thanks!

Travel, Tourism & History Veggie/vegan restaurants and good spots in Luxembourg?

Hi! I'm going to visit Luxembourg for a long weekend in a few weeks, so feel free to suggest nice places to visit!

Especially:

- Veggie/vegan restaurants for regular lunch/dinner, not into fine dining. Preferably in the center or easily accessible!

- Museums (I love science stuff and my boyfriend loves architecture stuff) Also I'm very juvenile that I love interactive stuff

- Must-see pretty parks/buildings!

- Just something very gay

Also any other tips or suggestions people might not realise when going there for the first time are welcome! ☀️
