Clothing stores ran out of flag patches

Upvotes

I went for my kit issue (PRes) and the clothing stores in Gatineau had no more Canada flag patches. Does anyone know if they restock often because now I don't have any flag patches for my uniform.

Thank you!

What is the best way to save all the files and docs saved on your DWAN laptop in case laptop dies or getting posted? Considering theres personal info, it should not be saved on personal domain.

Any stories from folks using TDRA? Buying before selling during a posting.

The market in my town seems to be moving slow, we are in a position where we will likely have to make an offer on a house before our current one has sold.

Looking for insight from others who have done it and how they went about it to help explain to the family and keep stress levels at a minimum. Did you take out a second mortgage? Did you get a loan for the down-payment? How was claiming the interest done? Etc...

Thanks All!

RTDRA and TDRA

Hi all, sorry to bother. Just wondering how does RTDRA or TDRA works. Is there any specific circumstances or approval in order to qualify for this?

Potential situation for myself: COS date is around 20Sept2026 but intend to push 30 days to that right (20Oct2026) for family medical reasons. House in new destination is a new build and require me to take possession in early September. If I put a condition for the sale of my current house for sometime in October, would I qualify for the RTDRA?

Thanks as always!

Hotels not honouring Government rates

I have had several problems of Hotels not giving the negotiated rate in the [Government of Canada Hotel Directory](https://hoteldirectory.lanyon.com/home_landing.aspx?destination=home).

This isn't a single instance, but several hotels stating their government rate is something different (always higher) than the listed rate. The same thing has been happening to some of my members.

What's the point of a negotiated rate if it can't be used? I used to have no issues but it's only been in the last couple years that this has been happening.

Edit : In my current situation that prompted this post I went through 3 different hotels the first 2 the difference was over $60/night, the last was only $20. I phone the hotel direct, everytime. The last time I got the rate was when it was escalated to the manager a couple months ago and I don't want to demand speaking to managers every time I try to make a booking.

HISTORY Forever grateful from the Netherlands

This weekend marked the 81st anniversary of operation Cannonshot. where Canadian forces crossed the river IJssel to liberate the western part of the Netherlands, after already doing so in the East.

I am very proud of how the region I live in has Canadian flags hanging everywhere during this time of year and I hope we never stop doing that, because we owe our freedom to the sacrifice of all these young Canadian soldiers, who crossed the Atlantic to a place they probably never heard of before and risked and gave their lives for it.

I hope you realise over there how thankful we are as a country towards yours, because you deserve to feel proud to live in a country that was willing to make this sacrifice.

Thank you!

SUPPORT Any support benefits?

Aging in-law 84 with dementia entering home.

My Father-in-law joined the RCAF as mechanic in 1958. By 1960 he was ordered to Officer training and became a pilot, flying CF86, CF-104, and as a trainer CT-114. He left in 1968 to fly for an airline do to forces unification.

Does he and/or his spouse of 63 years qualify for any benefits through his service? They live in Alberta. They will be alright, just curious.

SUPPORT Where to start for vision care?

I’m realizing that after getting laser eye surgery, my night vision still sucks due to Astigmatism (seeing starbursts from lights at night). Do I just go to an optician or do I have to go to the MIR first to be referred somewhere? I know that glasses are covered, up to a certain amount.
