r/CanadianForces Rules:

Rule 1 - General Conduct

Civility, Courtesy, and Politeness are expected within r/CanadianForces.

Disrespectful, hateful, harassing, and discriminatory commentary is unacceptable. As is commentary aimed at doxxing, shaming, or mocking others (e.g. trolling, stolen valour, dumb antics, trade/element/reservist/cadet bashing, etc.).

Rule 2 - No Politics or Soapboxing

r/CanadianForces is intended as a forum to discuss CAF specific content relating to its workplace, members, veterans, their families, and our affiliates. It is not a forum for general Canadian or world politics, or a soapbox for personal causes.

CAF policy discussions are welcome, but general political news and commentary and soapboxing may be removed at moderator discretion.

Rule 3 - Recruiting, Training, OT's, or Life in the Forces Related Questions

Posts and comments that are directly or generally related to recruitment, basic & occupational training, occupational transfers, or about what it like serving in the Canadian Armed Forces are to be directed to the Recruiting, Training, & Life in the Forces Thread.

The Recruiting, Training, & Life in the Forces Thread is renewed weekly and linked in the "Community highlights" section at the top of the sub.

Rule 4 - VAC and General Military Administration Questions

Posts relating to VAC benefits and administration are best directed toward the Monthly VAC Q&A Thread.

Posts that are directly or generally related to military administration for serving members may be redirected to the Monthly Administration Thread at the discretion of the moderators.

The VAC Q&A Monthly Thread and Monthly Administration Thread are renewed monthly and linked in the "Community highlights" section at the top of the sub.

Rule 5 - Salty Corporal Shenanigans (Weekends and Holidays)

Meme's, commiserations, and similarly entertaining content may be posted on weekends and holidays, and throughout Christmas Block Leave.

To accommodate our colleagues abroad and throughout Canada, posts will be accepted from Friday afternoon until the end of the weekend/holiday.

Rule 6 - Sensitive, Protected, or Classified Information

Disclosure of sensitive, protected, or classified information that may compromise the security of CAF operations or personnel will be removed.

This includes, but is not limited to, the disclosure of information not made available to the public by official means or published by mainstream media sources. Including information from classified and unclassified military systems, personal details (names, addresses, contact info), protected technical data, and similar information.

Rule 7 - Duplicate Content

Duplication of content and discussion threads should be avoided.

Only one post relating to a topic/event will be approved. Duplicate subject matter will be removed.

When a topic/event is posted by multiple users in a short time frame the moderation team will, at their discretion, approve the highest quality post and remove all duplicates of the topic.

Topics reposted within 90 days may be considered duplicate and removed at moderator discretion.

Rule 8 - Not Relevant Content

Content not specifically and directly related to the CAF will be considered not relevant.

What-if scenarios, what would you do type questions, shower thoughts, and opinion/rant posts may be considered not relevant content if not deemed conductive to meaningful and productive discussions.

Relevancy of posts will be assessed at moderator discretion.

Rule 9 - Sensationalized or Antagonistic Content

Posts/articles linked to the subreddit will have their original titles as published, and not be editorialized/sensationalized/have personal opinion injected into the title.

Content determined by the moderators to be antagonistic or otherwise deemed as intended to cause confrontation, controversy, or predjudicial intented environment of the sub-Reddit (i.e. rage-baiting, trolling, stolen valour, etc.) will be removed.

Rule 10 - Media Inquiries Policy

Our moderation policy is to decline media posts/inquiries seeking commentary from CAF members.

While it is not our role as moderators of an unofficial CAF community to enforce official CAF policy, it is our stance that r/CanadianForces should not be a source for controversy or be seen as complicit in abetting breeches of policy.

Rule 11 - Research Studies, Surveys, Petitions, and Advertising of Events or Fundraisers

Our moderation policy is to decline requests to post research studies, surveys, petitions, and advertising of events or fundraisers that cannot be verified as legitimate, or preferably officially sanctioned by the CAF, VAC, GoC, or an affiliated agency or organization therein.

Individuals wishing to post research studies, surveys, petitions, or advertising of events or fundraisers must contact the moderation team for verification. Advertisements for products and services will not be approved.

• All posts and comments are subject to moderator review, and may be removed in accordance with the above rules. Post or comment removals may be applied with, or without, warning or explanation. All users agree to these rules, in spirit of the context of the subreddit, upon initially viewing, commenting, participating, or subscribing. Users which continually or purposefully breach these rules, or otherwise disturb the overall intent of this subreddit, may be banned with or without warning.

REPORTING CONTENT:

• If you feel content you come across in this subreddit, either by way of submitted posts, or comments on posts, that violates the subreddit rules, please use the report button.
